a friend and i got a voucher to go on a two hour falconry into / hawk walk here. it was about an…read morehour and a half drive from dublin the falconry was out the back of a large garden center that also had shops and a restaurant (kinda like avoca). the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. we were introduced to about a dozen different breeds of owls, falcons and one hawk. there history and country of origins explained and any questions we had were answered. we all got a turn of holding and petting the owls and we could take as many photos as we wanted. the whole thing was hands on, the only two birds we didnt get close to was the vulcher and the hawk but i was quite happy not to get too close to them! we then went on a walk around the surrounding countryside with martha the falcon. we all got plenty of chances to call her to land on our hands and send her off flying again. over all it took just over two hours and was a fantastic experience.
