Came in for lunch after doing the titanic walking trail. Service was AMAZING. Lunch however had mixed reviews. I had the fish and chips and it was beyond greasy. There are not too many places to eat waterside in Cobh so we were pleased to find The Quays. Good service, very tasty Prawns Pil-Pil (which I had as a main) but limited and somewhat pricey menu. read more

Went back to The Quays after a prior visit a year and a half ago and I was once again impressed by the quality and depth of the lunch menu. As I mentioned in my original review, most lunch items are less than 10 EUR, and if you're only interested in sandwiches, then you're only talking 5-6 EUR. Having a hard time thinking about how to rate this place. We came in on the first weekend back from their renovations. We had no idea, as we're not from around here, until we were paying. So first I'll rate as if we didn't know that and how we felt throughout the meal.... the service was very slow and the food was extremely bland. At least for my husband and I. My parents said their seafood chowder was great but the pizza was pretty terrible. However, I need to be honest... we're from the New York/ New Haven area. -- pizza is our thing. Anyways, food was disappointing. Now... rating based on what I know now.... the place is beautiful and will be amazing on a nice warm day to sit outside with a few drinks and some snacks. THE QUAYS You may arrive at the Quays Bar and restaurant in Cobh by car, on foot, by train or by boat. The establishment has its own pontoon. It also has a decking area, part of it under cover, so you can take in the harbour views as you dine. Called in there at the weekend, by car, and enjoyed a decent afternoon cup of coffee, a large one (with wrapped biscuit) that cost €2.50. The inside bar area looks clean and comfortable and service was efficient and helpful and smiles all round. We took the coffee on the decked area, took our time and watched as one of the cruise liners left the nearby Deepwater Quay. You won't get views like this at too many restaurants, though one in Venice, where I enjoyed the local "green" sardines, springs to mind. I haven't sampled the fine cuisine in The Quays yet but Saturday's experience suggests that it should be up to scratch. You can see the menu and prices on the website and they also have specials. Saturday's Specials included Soup at €4.50 and main courses ranging from Pan Fried Sea Bass with White Wine Sauce at €20.95 to Black Sole on the bone with a caper/butter sauce at €27.95. read more

Really impressed with the Quays. Despite the cruise liner having departed two hours earlier staff were really accommodating. Two of our party were running late but the chef was happy to wait. The wait was well worth it. 7 different orders and everyone was very happy. From a Hugh Cod portion to the perfect lamb shank and the beef salad the food was Devine and well presented. Interior is not fancy but the view over the harbour says it all. We'll be back. read more

Good food, centrally located, and beautiful view. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that the dinner menu was a little limited.

Tons and tons of outdoor seating is the real draw here, including a covered and heated section for chilly Irish nights. Food was OK; the spicy burger was clearly made from a frozen and preformed patty, and the server said she could not safely take a temperature below well-done. The cheese, jalapeño, and BBQ sauce made up for it somewhat. Fries were good, because Ireland. We also ordered the goat cheese salad, which featured nasty little pucks of pastry-wrapped cheese and a decent pile of greens. Service was a bit erratic, but it was a sleepy, no-ship-in-town night so I'm sure we didn't get the A team. In what seems to be a Cobh-wide trend, wines by the glass took the form of crummy airplane mini-bottles. read more

There is something special about this place....I have been to this bar twice now during my trips to Ireland and I just love it! We were lucky and hit fantastic weather both times, which makes the outdoor patio a great place to enjoy a pint. I suspect it's a happenin' spot in the summer time, as they have an outdoor grille. The view from the patio and the bar is very relaxing and it makes you just love Ireland all the more. They make a fantastic Irish Coffee and the bartender actually went back into the kitchen for about 5 minutes just to freshly whip the cream for my hot toddy. Great service! Short walk from the Cobh Heritage Center - a great way to sit back and talk about the Irish Emigration you've just learned about! read more

I had a great meal about a month ago with my family. We had great steak and wine, the desserts were super. The nice weather made eating outside great. The staff are friendly and very helpful which to me is a huge plus as I hate bad service. I will for sure bring my friends to this bar in this part of the country on my next visit. read more
