Even on a chilly Sunday morning we still managed to hop on our bikes and go for our ritual Sunday bike ride. After completing the main journey down la A enida Reforma we decided to cruise around the Roma neighborhood. This area is always buzzing with people except for today, and I think it's because of the frigid temperatures. We rolled-up on this restaurant after hey just opened up. My biking buddy opted for something light called the tostada de sopa and my favorite tacos are the tacos de birria, so I ordered three of those. Our Server was good especially since we were the second group of customers in the restaurant. I will say that the place could probably use a remodel, and it's evident by the outdoor furniture. read more

We came here on a recommendation. It's just a couple blocks from the place we were staying so it was about the convenience. Great seating, indoors and outdoors. The staff is super nice. We came here the first night in town, it was so good and so easy. I could see coming back. If I was staying in the area again. For the kiddos Pina aqua fesca Kids quesadilla Beefsteak taco An honest beer selection. The Alambre de Arrachera (beef and bacon) was good You know what though, I'm fairly sure everything they make is amazing. This is one of the better Taco spots I had in Mexico City. I really enjoyed all the tacos i had here. I have the al pastor tacos, the cactus tacos and also a few micheladas to go with it. Do you sit outside expect to have the occasional panhanded wire or someone trying to sell candy or some various wares. You could sit inside but it gets hot in there. Fastest efficient service the night i went during the weekday. Go across the street to get some churros after when you're done. read more

Uber driver recommended this so decided to try this out. Outdoor seating was nice during COVID times but literally in the hour of sitting outside, we were constantly greeted by folks asking for money, 9 to be exact in the time we were there. It was sad and heartbreaking but I'd totally recommend you sit INSIDE if you want to eat in peace. Food wise: - very disappointing - the guac was fine but the chips were the most stale chips ever and you could hardly eat them - I ordered the alambre sencillo with meat and it was the most unflavored dish ever - I had to squeeze so much lemon and add salsa to give it some taste - my friend ordered quesadilla de champiñones and it tasted like the canned mushrooms -- so it's just food Service: - it wasn't too busy but our server brought forks for my 2 friends and just totally ignored me. ?? And she wasn't so attentive at all. Overall, prices were cheap if you're coming from the States but you could probably get better tasting meat tacos at the stands nearby. They do take Credit Card and they just bring it to your table and ask you if you want to add the tip directly onto the machine. read more

Taquitos Frontera is a cool spot right in the heart of Roma Norte. They have outside seating which give you a great view of all that is happening. The food is really good. The Alambre de Arrachera is soon good. It comes with bacon, onions, and bell peppers. Just add lemon, salt, and their green salsa and you will not be disappointed. They also have tacos de Asada, al pastor, and other types of meat. We also ordered a casuelita of queso fundido. If you love cheese, this is it. It is so stringy and the top is burned and crunchy. The service is good and they bring your food quickly. read more

Let me set the scene, my girlfriend and I had been walking around this neighborhood of CDMX for about 5 hrs strictly eating 1 taco each at every street taco stand or taqueria we saw. We were on the back end of our taco tour at this point, starting to get towards our limits when we walked into this unassuming place. I ordered arachera con queso and bistek con tocino. First off, MONSTER tacos that come with a pile of tortillas each. Second, the flavor was OFF THE CHARTS, that perfect balance of greasy with charred goodness we are all searching for. After a night of taco crawling thru some of the best and most infamous taquerias in CDMX this one was just as good if not better than any I are all evening. read more

The Arrachera Alambre with cheese is great! I would almost recommend sharing it with someone because so much food comes with the dish. Meat, cheese, onions, peppers all top this dish with plenty of tortillas. A second tip, get the flour tortillas as well. They definitely add on to the dish. They take credit cards, just not American Express so just remember that as well. But the food was cooked just right and I'll definitely try and make it back during my last week here in Mexico City. read more

Not bad. Nice place for tacos and evidently open very late. They have six different kinds of michelada on the menu, and the cold corona looked delicious, though I chose not to partake. I recommend the tacos al pastor. Curiously good flavor. They may put ginger in there with everything else. The green salsa had a nice little kick without being painful, and the ingredients all tasted super fresh. Also a really affordable place to fill up, and the service is fast. read more

It doesn't get any better for street tacos! The pastor is cut to order and then topped with melted queso and some carmelized onions. You have a choice of salsas and limes cut as well as grilled onions to top it all off! Best is that for 6 tacos and 2 beers we spent a bit over $11 with a very healthy tip! This place is incredibly shady. I didn't realize it until after the fact, that they had ripped me off, because I (naively) assumed that they would be acting in good faith. After we finished eating, the waiter quoted me the total by showing me a number on the calculator - a number that in hindsight could not have possibly been the correct amount. I pull out my credit card and the waiter tells me it is cash only. I point to the clearly visible credit card reader on the counter and I am told that it is not working. I tell him I don't have enough cash and will have to run to the ATM. He requests that I leave something behind for security purposes, so not knowing what else, I leave my credit card. He runs off with the card and before I am able to leave for the ATM, he comes back with a receipt. Ta-dah! The machine suddenly works now; only the total on the receipt is EVEN MORE than the already inflated total that he had quoted me. I point this out and I am told he will refund me the difference in cash. He runs off again - presumably to find some change. He finally comes back with some change - but it is even less than the difference between what he charged on the receipt and the amount he himself quoted me for. He seems oblivious to the actual amount owed, so I calculate it on my phone and show it to him. He then coughs up the remaining amount and FINALLY the payment transaction has been completed. I should have caught on a lot sooner. I even left a tip, despite the hassle. None of these actions were suspect to me until I pieced together the menu prices of the items I had ordered, and suddenly the entire incident seems very ill-intended. Lesson learned. I would advise staying away. read more

Close to our hotel. Very tasty. High quality. We had several choices of tacos. They were all very good. So much more meat than I had in Canada. I really like the salsa they offered. Beer is inexpensive. Out seating is more comfortable. I was amazed by the armchairs. They have the name of restaurant engraved, so delicate. Highly recommend this place. read more

After a shower and brief nap on my hostel, I was ready to venture out into the lobby and meet some of my hostel mates, time to make friends. Walked into the lobby area where a few people were sitting and asked where can I pick up some drinks nearby? To which I learned that actually, a few people were about to head towards a rooftop party in the city center if I'd like to join. Bingo! I had no idea what to expect but Dave from Jersey, Adam from France and Leandro from Argentina all seemed amped up about the Sunday rooftop DJ set. Who was I to argue. So we all hopped into an en Uber and headed towards this semi exclusive DJ set on the roof. Unfortunately when we arrived we learned that if you didn't have a ticket, it would be an hour and a half wait including an undisclosed cover charge once we reached the door, anywhere from $500-$700 pesos. Hard pass. Thankfully I wasn't alone, my lack of enthusiasm was shared by my hostel mates. As we deliberated what to do next, more and more people continued to shuffle into this alleyway rooftop party all to learn the unfortunate reality of this exclusive party that everyone was invited to. So we ubered back to Roma for plan B. After walking around we all agreed we were hungry enough to find wherever we could sit and eat and drink a beer or two. In comes taqueria frontera, an nondescript establishment that just so happened to have an available table for four. We sat and waited some time for our server before placing a standard four beers and a handful of pastor taco order. The food was fine, service a little slow, but it gave me an opportunity to learn about my travel mates extensive travel stories, which neighborhoods to avoid in certain Central American countries, who has the best nightlife and how to generally get the most out of traveling for a living while not going broke. I should have taken notes. Moral of the story, decent tacos, great company. And I gotta travel more. read more

Walked by this place at magic hour, a man was chatting with the staff over a simmering pot of something...casually playing Spanish style guitar. I had to try it. And OMG am I glad I did. This place rules. The arrachera and quesadillas were phenomenal, and we were served by an older woman with a wonderful twinkle in her eye. This was the first place we ate at upon arrival in CDMX because it was right by our hotel. The tacos are generous and delicious. We had tried a few different tacos and they all fantastic. Coming from NYC, I thought that we had the real deal but NYC taco trucks are pale in comparison to Taquitos Frontera. The tortilla are thin and soft and comes in different sizes for different types of tacos. We've been trying tacos from other colonias and Mercados but I'd still rate Taquitos Frontera the best. We went here 4 times during our 4 day trip in Mexico City. We always got the al pastor tacos (11 pesos each, what?!) and queso with al pastor + pina (which is al pastor and pineapple on a bed of sizzling cheese). Tortillas FRESH, salsa options are on point, service was EXCELLENT and FAST and open LATE. So glad we stumbled upon this place. The hours are wrong by the way, Fri-Sun (yelp says it closes at 5pm but we went at 10pm and it was open). read more

This little taco shop was delicious. The tacos were double the size so don't over order. The service was great. Inside and outside eating. However dont order carne asada, as this doesn't exist in Mexico city. It's on the medium price scale for the location but still a great value. Seven of us ate for about $60, this included drinks. Cheap, quick, and tasty. There are two locations close to each other on Alvaro Obregon, and both are busy at all hours of the day (and night). They are known for their tacos and frijoles, but I'd also recommend their consomme de pollo on a chilly night. This is a great non-touristy way to get your authentic taco fix. read more

This was our go to taco spot, we were staying down the block at Stanza Hotel so it was super convenient. The tacos were ridiculously good, unfortunately the service was not. I believe we went when they were short staffed and were in the process of looking for a new waiter. It was basically open all the time. We went at 4am, 3pm.
