Casual spot for burritos and other Mexican food with a salsa bar! My friend and I were hiking nearby and wanted a hearty meal. Taqueria Extra looked good, so we decided to give it a try and it really hit the spot. We parked in the attached parking garage. There's one floor specifically for patrons of the square and has free parking. We came by Saturday around 1 pm and it wasn't too crowded. We each ordered a burrito - I got the regular burrito with steak ($11.99) and my friend got the grilled veggies burrito ($11.99). We each got complimentary chips and helped ourselves to the salsa bar, which had 6 types of salsa ranging from mild to extreme. The food came out quickly. Both burritos were massive, especially my friend's veggie burrito. I was starving when I came, but even then it was a struggle to finish the whole burrito. We both really enjoyed the food and thought they put a lot of meat and veggies in the burrito. Would definitely come back next time we're in Walnut Creek and want a quick and casual meal! read more

I love love the Al pastor very much. I usually only get this meat every time. Happy hour is until 6pm which is super nice. 3 tacos (limited meat options but decent) for $6! The employees are friendly and it is fast service. You order than sit down. They have a nice sitting area outside that my friend and I love. Also good salsa bar very fresh! Okay, guys and gals, you should check out this place. Why? The food is good! The price is very reasonable in my opinion. (you can check out the menu in my pics and blowup the photo to get the prices). My wife and I had happy hour chicken tacos 3 different ways, excellent toppings with it. The salsas were fresh delicious varieties. In addition we also had the nachos with beef! It was so loaded we couldn't finish it so we asked for a box and took the rest home. Meal came with chips. On the menu there is a large selection of various meat choices you can choose from which I really liked a lot. The service was good & quick. The food I tried is the California super burrito. I was intrigued on getting this because the California super burrito has French fries in it & I haven't been to a Mexican restaurant that has a dish like that. I can't rate the crunch factor on the French fries as I ordered mine to go & ate it at a later time, tho the burrito was delicious. We came in around 9:10 PM and immediately smelled strong bleach. We ordered one burrito and one carne asada plate, and both were terrible. My boyfriend asked for light black beans, but they added extra. The carne asada was so dry and bland it seemed boiled. The tomatoes were awful too, please never serve them like that again you might as well put them in the salsa. Around 9:30, a staff member started cleaning the restroom, and the whole restaurant smelled like cleaning chemicals while we were eating. It was also freezing inside. This is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area, but multiple times we've tried to place a tacos order for our kids, tried to specify "no salsa or cilantro" - which in theory should simplify the order preparation - and gotten tacos with salsa and cilantro, which our preschoolers don't want to eat. We have tried calling after placing the order, including special instructions. We tried asking the restaurant to add a second menu option for "Kids Tacos" to try to reduce the chance that they would the order wrong. They just told us to keep using the "special instructions" field, which they then messed up. Ultimately we will be switching to a restaurant that can consistently get our order correct. read more

Wife's wet burrito looked great: had red sauce and a lot of pico de gallo on top, which I've never seen before. My salsa verde was well seasoned. Self serve soda machine too. We've enjoyed Taqueria Extra at work twice in the last month and a half. I had the shrimp fajitas the first time and the shrimp burrito today. Both are good but the fajitas were somewhat salty for my liking. Maybe it was an off day when I had the fajitas in early August, as the burrito I had today was nowhere near as salty. I love that they offer spinach tortillas and the ability to customize orders (type of beans, tortilla, extras). I've never been to the actual location so I can't comment on the atmosphere and service. Their breakfast options, especially the breakfast burrito and chilaquiles, looked tasty so I may try one of those next time. With an extensive menu that has something for everyone, I don't think it will be too long before we have another lunch from Taqueria Extra! read more

She said the super quesadilla with meat inside is $14 but if we do a quesadilla without the meat would be a cheese quesadilla. We said OK but we want the beans and the sour cream and the guacamole (the items in the super quesadilla) but she said it would be three dollars extra just for the beans. So now we are basically paying $14 for a cheese quesadilla and having to pay four dollars extra for every item we want to add inside the quesadilla. We got takeout from Taqueria Limon 3 in Walnut Creek, and it did not disappoint! The husband called in the order, and estimated pick-up time was accurate. There is no parking in front, but there is a free garage (was free today, not sure if it's always free) around the corner. We ordered the following - Super Burrito with Carne Asada and pinto beans - OK, I wished I read the reviews because I would have chosen the al pastor or carnitas because the carne asada in my burrito was very bland. There were some salsas provided, and I had to use the hot one to give it some flavor. The hot salsa reminds me of a diluted version of el yucateco's xxxtra hot hot sauce. The other salsas didn't have any spice to me, and was a bit bland as well. Their green salsa was alright. Super Burrito with Grilled Chicken and refried beans (combo) - this one deserve all the stars. It was their special for the day, and combos on their specials is just a little bit more than the entree itself. It was just a dollar or so more to add on chips, salsa, and a drink with the super burrito. The grilled chicken had so much more flavor than the carne asada. They even let us get horchata as our beverage. So much better than a regular fountain drink! Chicken Quesadilla - the kids got the grilled chicken quesadilla on flour tortilla. It was filling and both kids enjoyed it. Usually they would complain when we get them quesadillas because they either don't like the texture of the chicken or it's "too spicy." They both ate up all of this one, so we're very pleased with that. Will def come back to try more of their menu, along with some al pastor. Yum! read more

Restaurant looked relatively new when we walked in. We had several options along this street but choose Taqueria Limon 3 for Tuesday night dinner. There were no taco Tuesday specials. I ordered 2 crispy tacos a la cart with chicken and asada along with a Chile relleno & ceviche tostada (fish). He had the two taco plate with shrimp and fish. I liked their salsa offerings. Service was okay, you order at the counter and they bring your food out. Chips and salsa bar were basic but they had several salsas which I thought were nice. The crispy tacos were not real crispy tacos. It's the cold packaged taco shell with meat loaded with cheese and lettuce on top. I won't order this again because it just wasn't good. The Chile relleno came out piping hot covered in a delicious red sauce with peppers and onions. The ceviche tostada was flavorful and had a nice bite to it. However the two taco plate with the shrimp and fish was slightly disappointing. Fish was cubed and shrimp didn't have much flavor. For what we paid for, it was okay but not that great. I guess I expected more but with plastic utensils and self bussing the tables, I feel like the experience fell short. read more

I think this could easily have been a 3/5 review, but I'll stick with 2/5 which usually corresponds to "Could've been better". When I walked in the menu above the cash register was very overwhelming and difficult to follow. Luckily I had looked online ahead of time where the menu is a little more organized, and knew I was ordering a veggie super burrito. Online it said it would come with guacamole and sour cream. I was handed a water cup which I appreciated and a small basket of chips. Easy to find location by the way and lots of seating. Great. Their salsa bar was nice and definitely is something that would bump this place up a few stars also. They had great options. The salsa bar was self serve, and was still very clean and organized. I liked that. But the problem was with my burrito. I was going to take photos of it, but as soon as I cut my burrito in half, our came a ton of sour cream color water and fluid. It was such a wet and messy burrito and I did not appreciate that. There was barely any cheese, and I could not find any guac or sour cream in the burrito whatsoever. I just was not that impressed by the burrito unfortunately! But I think ordered a different menu item might have given for a different experience and could easily get this place more stars forsure! read more

We doordashed our dinner from this restaurant. I ordered shrimp fajitas and I was a bit disappointed in the amount of shrimp they gave me in my plate. I feel like it could have used a bigger portion of shrimp. My boyfriend got a veggie burrito and it was warm to cold when it arrived as I marked in the notes to "MAKE SURE THE FOOD IS HOT".
