I've been here twice in two weeks. I got the Adobada both times, once in burrito form, and once as tacos. Very good and fresh, I'm a fan!

Smarty Pants is a cool, no frills restaurant and bar in Georgetown. Located in a really cool area…read morenext to some awesome stores. There is no frills here- standard seating, typical bar. Food is fantastic- myself, and the three people with me all loved our sandwiches. Italian beef was delicious- I would pass on the potato salad. French Dip was scarfed down- one of my husband's favorite French dips- in his words. We all shared the chips in queso as an appetizer- was shocked how spicy it was, but was very addicting. My only reason for 4 stars is that two of ordered Moscow Mules and we were brought what we thought were Whiskey Sours- definitely not what we ordered. Our server seemed to be the bartender and server- so she was busy! Overall highly recommend for decent drinks and bomb sandwiches.

Food: we split the Chicago Italian Beef with provolone cheese and the Taylor Street Italian. The…read moreItalian beef was superb--wouldn't change a thing. The Taylor Street was mediocre--the cold cuts were whatever and it needed some sort of zing. For sides, the green salad with bleu cheese dressing was outstanding, thanks to the house-made dressing, but the chips and salsa were lackluster due to the stale chips. The salsa was good. Service was top notch--attentive, friendly, and timely. Ambience: I like old buildings, so this was right up my alley. The restaurant was clean and had an upbeat vibe. The seating was hard on the butt and back.

Walking into this cute little shop somehow brings me memories of my time in Tokyo. They have…read moreautomatic Japanese voice greetings when you walk in and order and Japanese music playing in the background. Everything is self serve and easy to order. Chirashi bowl (5/5) For the price, you just can't beat it anywhere else. It's totally worth it with 5 different kinds of sushi, shrimp and eel and roe. The fish tastes fresh and the wasabi is strong. Amazing price, generous portion, excellent quality. Unagyu don (4/5) This bowl has a mix of tender beef and eel and it's quite heavy on the sauce. I wouldn't say it's very salty but it is saucy and you need to mix it with the rice properly to balance it out. The portion is generous and it is very filling. Not bad but I'd go for the chirashi every time.

Georgetown has some nice hidden gems and I would consider this one of them... just good,…read moreno-nonsense Japanese rice bowls of comfort. If you're a fan of Red Bowl in Financial District, this place has a similar vibe with its approach to rice bowls. Having been here twice on different weeks, I think this will become one of my go-to places in the area when I'm craving fresh seafood on a weekend south of downtown. LOGISTICS Parking is convenient for Georgetown area, given they have a dedicated lot for customers of businesses in the area. Entering in, you order through the kiosk and if you're dining in, you can seat yourself and they'll bring the order to you. The space is small for larger groups but if you're 4 people or less, generally there are tables available on off peak hours (at least what we observed Sat/Sun). Ordering happens at the kiosk, which you can choose for takeout or to dine in. Keep in mind there are some items available for dine-in only (ex. udon or seared salmon bowls), but if you plan on doing takeout anyways you can order online or call ahead for pickup. Note - they do close at 2:30 pm but re-open at 4:30 pm. So long as you get your order in by 2:30 pm they'll still service you... which was nice since the last two times we came in around 2:00 PM. FOOD First off, they have nice nice presentation both in how the food is arranged and the bowls they use when dining in. From the ceramic/decorative bowls to the trays they use... it's the little things that add to the dining experience and make you think a business cares about its food. (Note: there was one time we had initially ordered togo but decided to eat in person; so they kept the food in plastic bowls for one of my photos.) In every bowl we had during our two visits, the rice was excellent! We've had some terrible rice at other donburi places before where it can be too overcooked or too mushy. Fortunately their seasoned rice was a good texture and tasty to eat on its own. The seafood was also excellent for the price / quality - fresh tasting with a melt-in-your mouth texture. Volcano Bowl: Spicy salmon + spicy crab salad w/ masago - despite the description it wasn't too spicy (siracha mayo) but it went really well with the rice, like a deconstructed sushi roll. I liked mixing in some wasabi to give it a stronger kick. Aburi Sake Bowl (seared salmon bowl): This is only available to order for dine-in; if you love salmon... I would recommend this one. Seared salmon is delicious seafood umami. I liked how the salmon had the right amount of fattiness too. Chirashi Bowl: If you like variety, then this is an excellent bowl to try a little bit of everything. I was amused that they also included unagi (I don't think I see that in most chirashi bowls). Even the shrimp, which is usually my least favorite part of chirashi bowls, tasted good with a slight sweetness. OVERALL Awesome place and a good location for the area given there's parking available. Price was just right for the quality (I'm amused how much cheaper good seafood is here in Seattle compared to the Bay Area) and the staff were really friendly. There are also two excellent bouldering gyms nearby (Castle Climbing Club and Momentum)... so if you're looking to recharge after a climbing session, I would highly recommend coming here!

Since my last review I have tried several more of their artisan sandwiches and have loved every one…read moreof them in their own way. If you also want to try a lot of their sandwiches, do how I do it and get their half and half so that you can choose two kinds of sandwiches each time for a great price of $16 before tax. As mentioned before, you can even order online and pickup at the store! Now for the other sandwiches I got to try: - Pulled pork and grilled cheese: very heavy because of the cheese but flavorful because of the tender pulled pork. This one came in really piping hot for some reason when I got it. Also grilled cheese is one of my all-time favorite sandwiches no matter how plain! - Salami: had some peppers and jalapeños to balance the peppery salami throughout this sandwich. The bread used here was harder to chew on yet it had the right aftertaste to complement everything in this sandwich. It's as if the bread had some olive oil or butter on it. - Cuban: all in a hoagie bun and full of tender flavor from the pulled pork. Pickles added a nice kick. - Philly: has the ingredients of a Philly cheesesteak while feeling like a mild version of it. Bell peppers and onions stood out to me for giving the roasted beef some more oomph.
