I absolutely love Taps and Tails every time I go! My dog is now reaching the elderly stage, but I wanted to keep her active and meet other dogs in the area. This place is so inclusive to all different sizes and breeds of dogs. The staff was so amazing they're always engaged, keeping an eye on the dogs, stepping in when needed, and cleaning up after each pup as they leave. I've also attended a couple of their special events, most notably their Minis and Mimosas party! It was perfect for small‑dog owners who might feel anxious about their pups being around much larger dog - and my old morkie loved it! As a bonus too, there is a bar for human visitors! I wanted to love this place, but after two bad experiences I feel compelled to share. My girlfriend and I are both 22, but look young. On our first visit, instead of simply asking for IDs, staff pulled our mothers aside and questioned them to "prove" our age. It was unnecessary and uncomfortable. We gave it another chance, but the second visit was worse. In front of a crowd we were told we "look like 10 year olds," then met with glares and a cold demand for IDs. Even after showing them, we felt stared at until we decided to leave. I respect the need to verify age, but this could have been handled professionally with a simple ID check at the door. Decided to take my pup to Taps and Tails for her birthday! The online process to register your dog was much easier than I expected. You can just upload a photo of their vaccinations and a human actually goes in to review and accept it. Very happy I didn't have to deal with any auto rejections, etc. from a bot. They even have online verifications with some vets in the area who can send your records straight over. It's $10 for dogs to enter, but since it was my Mocha's birthday, she got in free. There are plenty of doors and gates to stop any wayward pups from exploring outside where they shouldn't be. The indoor play area isn't huge but it's a good enough size for the dogs to run around while still being looked after. The Bark Rangers are attentive and most owners seemed to be looking after their dogs attentively, which was comforting. The real draw is the massive outdoor play area. I'm looking forward to bringing my dog back in the summer to run around. The bar is fine. They had some pretty good beers on draft, including my beloved Jackie O's Razz Wheat. I did initially get a spicy strawberry margarita, but it was only okay. It was likely a premade mix and I probably should have tempered my expectations from the beginning. All of the cups are plastic, which I didn't like, but I understand. While I love the concept and the idea of allowing my dog to run and play with others, ultimately I don't think this is for her. Most of the dogs were medium to large size and my Yorkie Pomeranian was just a bit intimidated. But I love their social media and their events seem cool. I've been here many times with my pup. I love having this kind of space in cleveland where you can have a great bar with cheap drinks, and your doggo can have the best time. I ended up getting a monthly membership because it made financial sense, but you can get one time entrance, monthly or yearly packages. They recently increased the prices so make sure to check on their website. What also sets this place apart from regular dog parks is all the cool events they have like breed-specific nights where your pup can get in for free, holiday parties, glow in the dark parties, etc. Makes it super fun. I also appreciate how they have "bark rangers" that watch the dogs to make sure they are all playing along and help pick up poop for you too! This place is so much fun for dogs and their owners! I took my two small dogs here for the first time and they had a blast. They were extremely nervous at first because they have never been around bigger dogs before. The dog area here is not divided, all dogs play together. Some dogs can be a bit rough at times but I felt like the staff handled them well. The staff gave us a heads up about dogs that might be a little bit of trouble for our smaller dogs. They also did I great job cleaning up after the dogs, if they made any kind of mess and the owners weren't around. The staff at the bar was also very nice. For a dog place, I was extremely surprised by how clean it was. There were no messes left by the dogs. The human-only bar side was really clean. The place is decorated and it's adorable! I love all the dog themed stuff. The outside part is really nice too. There's plenty of seating everywhere (inside and out). There's also heating inside that's great for the colder days. As for the food, it's just bar food. I didn't expect much when I ordered it. It was good enough to do the job. They have a smaller menu for food but the drink menu has lots of options. I would love to see them add some dog-friendly food options for my dogs to enjoy on the patio. I totally recommend this place and I'm excited to take my dogs back again sometime soon! read more

We drove 1 hour to visit this establishment and after making a phone call about visiting and bringing all required documents , we arrived to find this in a very bad neighborhood to start , then when I went in to register my dog the smell in the facility was disgusting, I can't believe they serve food and drinks in there. But we wanted to give my high energy dog a release to burn off energy before exploring cleveland well that was ruined they would not let us in because they failed to inform me on the phone that any dog needs to be spayed or neutered, so we had to drive back home day ruined and never got to explore cleveland area thanks so much for dropping the ball Taps and Tails I will never be back and will spread the word on the smell that came from inside place maybe food inspectors need to pay a visit soon read more

Enter Taps & Tails, Cleveland's first dog park, daycare, and brewery. For those living close to Tremont, it'll be worth it to purchase a membership for your furry friend rather than pay the $8 single admission each time (humans are free). Admission gets you entrance to puppy paradise where Bark Rangers employed there will supervise the silly shenanigans your canine gets into whilst you kick back and enjoy a cold one. All dogs registered require proof of vaccination and the check-in process is seamless once you've registered. They'll even remind you when vaccines are due if they're coming up! There are multiple areas separated by wooden gates dividing human-only and human and dog friendly areas. The indoor and outdoor park are connected by stairs and a ramp and provide a decent-sized area for dogs to chase each other around. Various small play structures are scattered around outside, along with a water bowl and small tub. The ground is a mix of woodchips and dirt/grass all fenced in by tall chain-link. Humans are welcome outside too, just pull up any of the various chairs. There isn't much shade unless you're hugging the side of the building though, so bring sun protection unless you like the burn. The raised patio is open to both humans and leashed dogs and is a great area to enjoy the beautiful Cleveland spring/summer/fall days. There's several high top tables to keep watch on your pup below deck, and you might also catch Burning River BBQ or another food vendor cooking up food while dogs salivate behind the fence. The inside dining area is small compared to the overall square footage, but makes efficient use of wall-space to display dog-themed artwork. The bar is open both indoors and outdoors so you can quickly refresh and refill before heading outdoors again. No dogs are allowed inside the dining room itself. The beer selection on tap is quite good, including popular locals like Jackie O's, Great Lakes, and Brewdog, along with classics like Corona and Sam Adams. Well drinks and cocktails are currently available only Monday-Saturday. Not only that but they always seem to know us (and our pup) by name but we love the peace of mind that all of the dogs here are up to date on vaccines, monitored by staff, and have a good temperament. I'm am so stoked that this place has popped up! It's a fully stocked bar (delicious cocktails, extensive draft list, and more) + snacks, and a dog park. This indoor/ outdoor dog park allows for your pup to play because they have their employees watching over them, picking up after them, and making sure safe and fun play is happening. All you have to do is check your dog in, send in photos that your dog is vaccinated () which is done in person or online, and you're good to go! I came here without a pup and had their delicious cocktails and again with a pup and enjoyed my entire experience. This is my current favorite CLE establishment! Let's be real here and say that my dog is pretty much the love of my life and seeing him happy brings me deep job. That being said, my little 9 pound bundle of joy is not a fan of winter and has not been getting much exercise this winter. We all know that a bored dog is a bad dog and so I was so pleased to finally get my doggo to Taps and Tails. This place is super cool. There is a dog park area, both inside and outside where the dogs are free to roam with or without their owners. The humans can either sit in the dog park on the chairs surrounding the perimeter and watch the doggos or they can hang out in the bar area. I personally chose to hang out with the dogs so I could get pets and licks and watch dogs do funny dog things. I ordered a drink through the window and spent an hour watching my dog play inside, in the heat for over an hour. This was the most fun he has had all winter and I got to take him home completely exhausted. You know what they say- a tired dog is a good dog. read more

We have taken our yellow lab here a few times to play with other dogs. All of the people that bring their dogs there are very friendly! Our lab is quite shy so only likes it for about 30 minutes but the other dogs are having lots of fun running around with each other. They also have beers for the adults that they can bring down into the dog area, making it enjoyable for both the dogs and adults. They also check vaccination records, making sure that the dogs are safe. read more

We've been taking our dog here for over a year. We don't even go to public dog parks anymore. They have staff members walking around all the time keeping everything chill. Problem dogs aren't allowed back which does a lot for peace of mind, and the cost to get in is negligible. I've never tried the food but the full bar is nice. I have used the daycare service a couple times and was pleased with that as well. This place is great and I'd highly recommend it as long as your dog is well socialized. read more

Absolutely amazing place. We drop our dog off here 1-2 days a week for daycare and she loves it (always trying to pull to go to taps and tails when we walk by). She also comes back very tired. They take care of the dogs here and always have people watching out for them. All the dogs here have also been friendly and I haven't had any bad experiences. read more

We were excited to come here to have a drink and bring our dog. Within 15 seconds of entering he was tackled by a husky who grabbed his neck by his mouth and pushed him to the ground. Complained to the attendant on multiple times and her response was that was simply her way and nothing to be concerned about. the dog which I Believe was hers. This dog did the same thing to multiple dogs. When I told her this wouldn't be acceptable even at bow wow beach( self monitored) or any day care we've ever been at. Her response was " it's ok here" if you care about your dog stay away from here.. FYI i am not a wimpy dog owner. This was simply over the top. Multiple Customers agreed but didn't want to say anything. Shame because we would have been regular customers. read more

We started paying for full membership costs on the 1st week of business while we were still fostering dogs. We continued this membership throughout our dog foster experience, paying for entire months at a time that we didn't even use. But we eventually adopted one of our fosters. Yesterday, we spent 3 hours and a ton of money hanging out here. Nobody spoke to us about a problem with our dog. The owners continued to serve us drinks and chat like we were friends. Our dog occasionally played with, chased and/or tug-o-war'ed with other dogs. Today, they fired us as customers. They sent a 3-paragraph email about how our "unsocialized" dog is no longer welcome there. Apparently, the way he played with the tiny dogs (allowed into the same space as our 65 lb pitbull) upset some other guests. He does spend 3 days a week at a better daycare center, where he is sequestered with dogs of his size, and is often used to test the temperament of new incoming dogs before they are released to play with a larger crowd. There was no aggressive behavior, the little one (and his owners) didn't even express unhappiness with the way our dogs played together. But as some of the very first members of this establishment, we are no longer welcome to bring our dog. Taps n Tails is owned by a couple of jerks. Lakewood Dog Park is a better place to relax with your dog, and Cleveland offers far superior day care. Do yourself a favor and skip this sinkhole in the valley. read more

Initial impressions were favorable, (i) Great concept, (ii) safety seemed to be a priority (website and checking records), and (iii) indoor and outdoor options for both humans and dogs. The further we and Bailey (miniature dachshund) got into this place, the more things started to fall apart: (i) the outdoor play area for dogs is 50/50 mix of dirt and wood chips (i.e., a mess), and (ii) this place does not have separate areas for large and small dogs. I have nothing against large dogs as I had boxers growing up; however, they do come with more responsibility because they can cause more damage, harm or just be annoying AF to others. Some dog owners take this responsibility seriously while others just don't give AF. This is a place where most owners fall into the latter. Small dog owners aren't able to just sit at the patio bar and enjoy the day, but instead have to sit down in the dog play area to keep an eye on their pups while the large dogs run around like chickens with their heads cut off. There is an outdoor pool for dogs for hot summer days, which would be cool except when you have a 120lb soaking wet dog rubbing up against you or shaking off next to you. Oh, and because the ground is basically dirt these are 80-120lb wet dirt balls rubbing against you and your dog. All of the above is a nuisance to small dog owners but still can be tolerated and accepted for what it is. What can't be accepted is when the safety of your dog is at risk. There are employees monitoring the dogs but can't react to everything quick enough. I was getting a drink at the inside bar and Bailey followed me in. As I was waiting on my beer, Ghost (i.e., Game of Thrones direwolf) came out of the Woods of Winterfell and attacked Bailey. Luckily I was there and picked Bailey up right away. I brushed it off thinking maybe it was because it was a tight space. Fast forward 20 minutes, my wife and I are sitting outside while Bailey is minding is business getting water from a bowl when we see Ghost creeping up on Bailey like a lion getting ready to pounce on a gazelle. I jumped up and as soon as I did Ghost pounced on Bailey and had teeth fully engulfing Bailey's neck. I was able to push Ghost off pretty quick and pick up Bailey with beer in hand, but Ghost jumped on me and my 15 ounces of deliciousness spilled all over my shirt. One of the workers came over and I explained how Ghost attacked my dog for a 2cd time; she was very helpful and said they would put Ghost on a leash inside. Not more than 5 minutes later Ghost is out running around off leash. Another worker (possibly owner) came over and was like "well this dog is here 4x a week and has never really had any issues". They did not give AF about their own rule "All dogs must be non-aggressive. Owners will need to certify that their dog(s) has not harmed or shown any aggression or threatening behavior towards any person or other dog." Btw, we talked to 3 other owners that said Ghost was extremely aggressive towards their dogs as well. To top it off (pun intended), they didn't even offer to replace my beer that was clearly on my shirt instead of in a frosty mug. This place gets one star for a good concept and a one star for the employee that actually cared and tried to help; everything else was a major disappointment. read more
