We gave it another chance, but the second visit was worse. In front of a crowd we were told we "look like 10 year olds," then met with glares and a cold demand for IDs. Even after showing them, we felt stared at until we decided to leave. I respect the need to verify age, but this could have been handled professionally with a simple ID check at the door. The concept of this facility is great, but the approach left us feeling unwelcome.

In fact, there is a nice community of humans who visit, so most of the time the humans have a chance to socialize as well as their dog counterparts. Everyone seems to be willingly to pitch in to take care of the park as well, with some bringing water for the bowls and more baggies for cleanup. 3) It's a lot quieter than Stow's Bow Wow Beach. Not going to lie, Bow Wow Beach is our favorite playground, but in the winter it's closed and a lot of the time there's so much going on there it's a little overwhelming. Keyser is nice, I never seen more than 5 dogs there at one time. Would HIGHLY recommend to new owners trying out the off leash dog playgrounds. It's a nice baby step for both human owners and dogs. *only note: while there are no hours for the dog park there are no lights on the premise.

Registration is a bit of a process. You first have to create a profile through the Lorain County Metro Parks system, then return to the Splash Zone site to register for a specific program on a designated day and time. Once registered, the system shows your cost--mine initially showed $0. I arrived about 30 minutes early on the morning of my class, which turned out to be helpful because I had to re-register in person. After completing that, I was told there would normally be a $3 fee due to my SilverSneakers account. However, the woman at the front desk kindly let me attend for free that day, explaining that future visits would be $3. Since I'd never been there before, I had to navigate through several locker and pool areas. There are multiple pools separated by glass dividers with automatic doors--someone shared a helpful tip that the small black box above the door shows which side to stand on to trigger it. The instructor came in without much of an introduction, set up a small carry-on-size speaker, put on her headset, and began the class. The workout was aqua Tabata (a Japanese-style interval workout): 20 seconds of fast-paced movement followed by 10 seconds of rest. The class lasted 45 minutes. I stayed for about 30 minutes, choosing to leave early since shower space is limited and I like to be considerate of others. The workout itself was excellent, and being in the water felt really good. The showers, however, were not great--hair on the floor and a general "public park" feel, even at 10:30 a.m. I was glad I wore water shoes. On the plus side, the water temperature and the very hot shower afterward were appreciated. The instructor mentioned that this is her business and encouraged people to connect on Facebook (with a profile photo), and it's clear she's very talented. Overall, despite a few logistical and cleanliness issues, I'd go back again--and next time, I'd happily pay the $3 when I'm in town.

Then the lifeguard switched a bunch of times. She was able to go on the side all those times. And she was tall enough all those times also. And then there lifeguard who didn't let her and said she was too short. I let him know that she was a really strong swimmer and that she could touch the bottom of the pool. There was this one kid who was in line in front of her and he let her go was the same height as my daughter. And then the lifeguard Lucas said my daughter was too short. Even if she was the same as other girl that went in front of her. Her hair was what was making her taller. And he said the hair on her head counts. So I put my daughter's hair up in a bun and he said well that doesn't . She cannot go on the slide. That is what got on my nerves. We will not be going back to splash zone again if it has anything to do with that lifeguard.

I went for aqua aerobics. These signs were on the wall for motivation.

All of the trails are challenging! I would say front a suspension mountain bike is a must, and having a rear suspension would make these trails a little easier. I have seen people riding these trails with no suspension. Roughnecks! The first trail, Huffman Trail, is a low to medium difficulty trail. Though, it is much harder than most the other mountain bike trails in northeast Ohio, based on the little bit of biking I've done in the last few years in the Cleveland Metroparks. To me, the climb is probably the toughest part. This trail will challenge you both physically and technically. It starts off flat, but then there is a long climb that will get your heart going. Most of the technical stuff is on the way down. There are several rock gardens and sharp drops that will test your balance. The second trail, is the Fawn Ridge trail, which connects to the Annex trail, which connects to the River Trail, but for my reviews purposes, I'm treating them as one trail because, well, it feels like one trail when you ride it. Fawn Ridge and Annex are not that long or difficult and there is one section where you actually have to ride along the road to get to the next section. Basically, this is the trail you ride to get to the difficult River Trail section. The River Trail section is really challenging. There is a very steep, downhill rock garden with small logs that cross the path. It's very bumpy and hard to ride without losing your balance, while maintaining the right speed. It's tough to brake because your rear tire is bouncing off the logs and rocks, if you have no rear suspension like me. You don't want to give too much front brake because you don't want to fly over the handlebars. Out of approximately five attempts at this obstacle, I've only made it past it once without falling and that was during my first attempt! This trail circles back to the Annex Trail, where you will cross the street to the Reagan Park Trail. The Reagan Park Trail is a large, difficult trail with some interesting obstacles. Lots of climbs and narrow single track. But there is a nice section that is a gradual decline through a pine forest. Very cool! There is a section where you have to cross a creek, and yet another section that has a 10 foot drop that is extremely steep and makes a 90 degree right turn at the bottom. I usually just drag my rear wheel down this part and steer through the sharp turn. When you ride all three trails, it will get you in shape quickly. You will need lots of water, preferably a Camel Back to keep you hydrated. There is also an RC car track, which is cool to stop and watch people using while you catch your breath.

The park is great, but beware that my car was broken into, and my purse and cell phone was stolen. Don't leave valuables unattended, particularly if heading to the big dog park. You can't see the cars from the park. It was in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday. read more

Negatives: location! Its only entrance for vehicles is off of Silver Meadows BLVD, and this park is backed right up to the Silver Meadows apartments. There have been shootings in the past, there is definitely drug activity, and there have been robberies. It's not often, but it does happen. MY kids LOVE this park! We go there to feed the ducks and geese often. BUT this is a park that I do not bring my kids to unless I am concealed carrying.

I stopped going here so often because one of my dogs is a pure bred American Pitbull rescue & I wasn't crazy about the Silver Meadows (it butts up to the park as well) trash harassing me to buy my dog every time I'd visit. Or sizing me up & making comments about taking my dog while they got drunk; anyways, I guess if you're a dog owner don't go by yourself. Your best bet is to take State Route 59 (a.k.a W. Main Street) to the Don Joseph Toyota, there is a side street in between the dealerships called Stonewater Drive. If you take that straight back you will see 2 gravel parking lots & Stonewater Skate Park....there is a gravel path that goes directly behind all the houses that will lead you to the hidden park. There might be better directions but since the park doesn't have an actual address I'm not sure how to explain a way to get there otherwise.

It's not the biggest, or the most glamorous, but it's got plenty of open space for running. There are toys, water bowls, hand sanitizer and a separate area for small dogs. Archie walked in and immediately made a friend with what seemed like a breed of sheep dog. What I loved about this park was that it wasn't packed with folks who were sitting on benches with their coffee and not watching their canines. Tremont seems to attract owners who want to interact with their dogs and play with them while they're here. Since this was my first doggie park experience, I was a little worried about Archie running off or misbehaving with other dogs. The owner of the sheep dog quickly informed me that he wouldn't get out and to relax and let 'em all play. Great advice. One thing I could do without is feeling like I'm playing next to a radioactive power plant. I kept thinking I was going to leave here and develop a third eye from the toxic waves. Not a great view. I also wouldn't come down here alone at dusk, but during the day I don't think that would be a problem. Lastly, we didn't bring my boyfriend's son with us this time around, but we plan on it next time. There is a huge playground right next door for kids and since I know he'd get bored in the dog park within 10 mins, it would be a perfect situation for an energetic 6yr old.
