Uhmm this is the coolest place EVER! This dog park is a huge whoppin' 7 acres and has a lake in the middle. Plus there are trees so there are actual shaded areas too. There are benches and picnic tables around the lake, a small dog area (no water access) and a training area with ramps and jumps. My dog becomes the happiest version of himself when he's here. I've never seen him run and get zoomies the way that he does at Bow Wow Beach. It's really an incredible thing!!! read more

Great dog park!! Took my rat terrier puppy here today and he loved it. They have a main dog area with a lake where the dogs can go swimming and run around. There is also a smaller area for the smaller dogs. My dog loved the smaller one with the smaller dogs. He got a good workout running around with the other pups. There are plenty of benches for the owners to sit while the pups run around without a leash. There is also a double entrance gated fence so you can make sure your dog run away without a leash, which was a definite plus! read more

Such a fun stop! It's huge so chasing and keeping track of your dog if they're a runner is a challenge but our dog had the best time. It's got areas of grass and then sand before the water. The lake is fantastic if your dog likes to swim. in addition they have an area fr small dogs which is fenced. in addition the Stow Lions offer a Pawfest every third Sunday of September. Love this dog park! Picnic tables for people, bags for people to pick up after their dogs, a big lake and beach area for the pooches to play in. Every time we have come the people are friendly the dogs are happy. The only down side is not everyone is responsible so you still have to watch your step, and the obstacle course needs some TLC. read more

NEVER AGAIN! We have a service dog and we have to be extremely careful what dogs we are around. We needed a place to take a break from our busy day and saw this place and found a little place that had no other dogs and was out of the way and quiet. Not 5 minutes into our visit, dogs on the other side of the water started growling loudly and rough housing. No, we are not staying. I am trying to gather our things and our dog and couldn't move fast enough. Those dogs come out of nowhere and the owners can see I am trying to leave. So I position myself in between my dog and this on coming dog and stare it down. The owner shouts "Don't you want your dog to meet other dogs?" I yell back, "Not yours. Call it back to you or I will make sure it stays back." It took many calls for it to go back to its owner, all the while our service dog is wrapped around my leg. I WILL NEVER come back here. Not only are the people rude, the rules are ridiculous! No training collars allowed but you have to keep your dog under control! Really? How do you do that without training collars? Because those people I saw didn't keep their dogs under control, nor respect my privacy wishes. read more

The only local water that I know of where you can take your dogs. At first we were a little hesitant to take our dog(s) because we weren't really sure how they'd re act in such a large open fenced setting. We ended up using training colors and only use sound setting which tells them we are calling them back and they seem to do really well. There are showers for dogs. May want to take a couple of carabiners. They have chains on each side of stall so that you can hook and hold you dog centered while bathing. Our dogs always have a blast here. They also have some smaller non water fenced areas for small and another for larger dogs if you want something smaller. We love coming here. read more

Bow Wow Beach is a fun dog park/beach in Stow, next to A beautiful park and picnic area. It is fully fenced off so your pups can run and exercise freely. There is ample space for throwing a ball for your pooch, or for your pooch to take a dip. There is also a separate fenced off area inside that is just for small dogs, so safety is not a concern. Overall it's a decent sized lake, so you could walk the perimeter and get some exercise in yourself while you pup socializes. It is a fun and relaxing little dog park. read more

This is by far the most amazing place I've ever been too! My 3 babies absolutely love it here! We are apart of morning regulars group and we go everyday for a few hours! The people and dogs are as sweet as can be! There are the occasional outbursts but they are rare and part of the risk you take when you come to a park fIlled with dogs who don't know each other yet! My family occasionally drives from Pennsylvania with their dogs just so we can take them to this park!! It's a great way for people and and the dogs to make friends!! read more

The people that go here love to judge you. My boyfriend and I own a 2 year old blue-nose pitbull, and was NOT welcomed with open arms. Our Riley is the sweetest little girl, well-trained loves to play. Sadly, she never got the chance to socialize with any other dogs because almost every person we walked past (we walked the perimeter of the park) got ahold of their dog and held onto them for dear life as we passed. I must say-I'm pretty aware of the judgment that comes from owning a pit, but never experienced so many disrespectful and just plain mean people, than I did here. I compare it to walking into a mom's club when you're the new one, and feeling left-out and not welcomed. It's almost like they are part of a club-and they make it known that you are not part of it. I had never experienced people actually taking ahold of their dogs' collars and waiting for us to pass them by. Just something I will never get used to I guess. However, my Dad owns a yellow lab, and he is welcomed with open arms there, because he's a yellow lab. Even though he's not trained and doesn't listen to anything or anyone and likes to harass other dogs, HE is welcomed perfectly fine...because he is America's pride and joy dog. I will not be taking either of them back here-I would much rather for-go the judgment and harassment and dirty looks by the rude, RUDE people that are here. read more

I love this park. And my dog loves it too. She's a senior dog, but loves to swim, and this is a great place for her to do it. Dogs are well behaved and there is plenty of space. However- beware- keep your things with you in sight at all times. I usually sling my dog's leather leash over the entrance chain link fence to be retrieved on the way out, like so many others do. And today, someone decided to steal the leash. It wasn't a mix up. There was no other leash left there by mistake. Pretty low rent move. So keep that in mind if you decide to go there!!! read more

Let's just say that anyone who actually did their homework in regards to properly taking care of their canines would never visit this (or other) dog parks. The reason for this is simple, it's disgusting, know body follows the summit county leash & deification laws and the bike path is over littered with dog feces and rude bikers. Yes, it's awesome that there's a local park that has a huge fenced in swimming area for your pet, but that water isn't filtered. Which means every time your dog jumps in, they're swimming in other pets urine and feces which can lead to infection and the spread of zoonotic diseases. Especially if you fail to vaccinate & wash them (not rinse) afterwords. Also, it's beyond annoying that more than half the pet owners that visit don't pick up after their dogs defecate. Not only does this reek in the hot sun but leads to parasites such as giardiasis and other harmful illnesses. It's also against the law not to curb your dog and to fail to keep them on a leash when outside a fenced in area. Even if your pet is friendly, that doesn't mean other pet owners dogs are and you could wind up in the emergency room or loosing your beloved dog. Dog parks are amazing for socializing your pet and even making new friends yourself but let's face it, is it really worth the risk? If you want your dog to be able to roam free, you could always set up a play date or join a doggie day care- trust me, there's plenty around the Stow area! read more

Great place, worth the drive! Has a LARGE area with a pond and grassy area around. There is even an area along the pond with an obstacle course for dogs. There is usually a decent amount of dogs and people here, but it's so big that it does not seem crowded and you can usually find a little area to hang out if you prefer. There is a nice dog wash area and 2 double gated entrances... 1 by the main pavilion and the other by the small dog area. A full set of agility equipment is available next to the fully enclosed small dog area... and there are always some tennis balls floating around if the one you bring gets stolen by a faster dog. There are bags with the waste receptacles... and benches and picnic tables... a child height sign is located by the main entrance / pavilion. The location has to entrances, as well as a area to wash your dog off after you are done so they don't get your car all sandy. there is also to set areas for smaller dogs, one which is all fenced in and the other which is fenced in on all side but one, so bigger dogs do go into that area. they also usually have a big bowl of water out near one of the entrances of drinking water, your dog wont get sick if he drinks the lake water but he probably will get runny poop. Other dogs: Every time I have gone there my dog has had a blast, I have not yet come across any aggressive dogs, everyone seems to do a good job watching over there dogs. People: I have meet a good number of people there, they are nice and talkative, Its a great place to go if you not only want to take your dog somewhere nice but also if you want to meet some people and have some conversations. Open: It is open from spring to november. they close when it gets cold enough for the lake to be frozen so dogs don't fall in. dawn to dusk. My dog LOVES BWB Dog Park. He's an English pointer, and if you put him near anything with more than an inch of water, he will jump and play in it. So, naturally, if you give him a HUGE puddle of water, he's super excited. This is the only dog park we go to that when we go home, he's snoring in the back. Which, if you know anything about young pointers, you know they're complete monsters if they haven't had enough exercise that day. There are usually a good number of balls for throwing, a sandy area where the dogs can run wild, and a nice walking trail around the place for those who want to get a bit of exercise themselves. Also, because there is a huge sandy area, there are also three little stations where you can rinse your dog off before putting him/her back in your car. Truly a blessing. Overall, I've found most people there to be very friendly and social. They're a bit more laid-back than the folks at the dog park off Memorial, which is nice. read more

My dog Misha is a small spazz of energy. I need to take her often to places that offer her friends to play with and room to run. Bow Wow Beach is PERFECT. Bow Wow beach is set up perfectly for big and little dogs. All dogs can run unleashed in the fenced in park that surronds a small pond. For the smaller dogs there are two separate fenced in areas (one completely fenced in on all sides and the other is fenced in with a beach so smaller dogs can swim too). My little dog likes to think she's a big dog so we spend more time outside the small dog areas and we have never run into any problems. Dogs and their people are great. All dogs are friendly and it's great for play and socialization time. During the summer months there it seems like they're are thousands of tennis balls in and out of the water to play with. In addition to toys and water, there are waste bag stations throughout the park as well. When it's time to go home (and really what dog wants that?) there are several showers to wash off muddy paws, which the way my dog plays it's great to rinse her off before getting in the car. *Note: there are two entrances to the park. When you enter, the entrance to the left advertised for small dogs but the showers for rinsing are on the entrance to the right. read more

Sadie, my pooch, and I had a fun filled day. We and four of our friends from the Eastlake, OH, dog park, Patti and her pup Small, and Retta and pooch Maisy, went to Bow Wow Beach in Stow, OH. It's a 7 1/2 acre fenced-in dog park surrounding a 5 acre lake. The amenities include a doggie playground with a tunnel to walk through, hurdles to jump, ramps to climb up and down, and much more. There are benches to relax on, picnic tables to sit at, fireplugs for the boys and grassy areas for the girls, first aid facility, bowls and bowls of fresh drinking water, "shower" stalls to rinse sand off before leaving the park, just to mention a few. The whole "vibe" of the place is happy and uplifting. and the scenery and setting is beautiful. We just got back and I have never seen Sadie so relaxed and content. Right now, while I am writing this she is at my feet sawing logs. Sadie, Small and Maisy all give Bow Wow Beach a rating of 5 loud barks. read more

I took my very shy pitbull to the park and it was the first time he would be around strangers and strange dogs. He used to be very scared of people and dogs but it was getting better so we decided to go. There is a mix of breeds. Rottweilers, Great Danes, cane corsos, retrievers, collies, so many dog breeds. My dog took a while to warm up. All the people were friendly and for the most part responsible. There was only one dog the wasn't being watched and it wasn't aggressive just had bad manners. There are lots of places to sit and lots of provided poop bags. The park seemed really clean and owners were usually within 5 yards of their dog. Also people were really friendly with other people's dogs. My dog kept getting caught up in groups of people and they all pet his head and said hi. The water was lake water so it wasn't dirty but not clean either. I had heard that dogs got sick after going but this is not true at all for me, my dog was completely exhausted afterwards. They provide an area to hose off your dog before you leave and they also provide a water bowl. I had a great time and so did James. He made friends with a cane corso and a Great Dane. People that saw dogs getting rough called them away quickly. There was one dog that got in my dogs face and started to growl and a random person that didn't know the dog called it away. Amazing place to spend a day. Everyone is very nice and helpful. read more

This is the best dog park in Ohio!!! The lake is what makes it special and my little cattle dog loves to play and swim in it. At one end, there's a little dock that she can jump off into the water too. There's even a little dog area that's fenced off from the lake, which is perfect for keeping the big dogs separated from the little ones. For the most part, I always have a pleasant experience when I go there. But reading some of the bad reviews I must say and warn people that THIS IS AN OFF LEASH DOG PARK. You SHOULD expect that other dogs will approach you and your animal. When you enter the gates to the enclosed park, you forfeit your right to privacy. Some dogs can be aggressive and it's every owners responsibility to control their dog. As far as people not being friendly.....I don't go their to socialize with people and no one is obligated to socialize with me. People from all over Northeast Ohio come here and I wouldn't expect each one to be friendly nor make a pint of introducing themselves. The "regulars" like myself, know each other or at least we know each others dogs name!! Lol The little dog owners do hang out in their area and keep to themselves which is their right. I don't hold it against them or Bow Wow beach. The Lake is dirty. But the parks department treats it regularly. It's not safe for humans to swim or drink it. But your dogs will be safe....enough. There's fresh water hoses to use for washing your dog after. I do suggest using them as the lake water smells a bit. Use common sense when coming to Bow Wow beach and don't judge it based on these silly reviews. I love it and feel so blessed to have it close by. This was our first time at the dog park with our 7 pound Yorkie. We started off heading to the designated small dog area and was very disappointed. While the large dog area had a massive pond, a beach area to play in and an obstacle course, the small dog area contained a tree, a waterless kids pool and a bench. Our dog loves to swim and interact with other dogs so it was disappointing to have such a small area for him to play in without any where to swim. While that being said this park seems very suitable for big dogs but if you have a small dog I would never recommend coming here. read more

I will not take my dogs regularly, if ever to bow wow beach. There is no vetting process of any kind, and so there is always a risk of aggressive dogs and owners with no idea what to do. Fights break out all the time. The water is filthy. My dogs love to swim, but after seeing a dog poop in the water, i'm not comfortable letting them in anymore. One owner may bring multiple dogs, and if they run off in different directions WHO is going to watch them both? outside toys brought in by owners are risky, because some dogs are possessive of 'THEIR' tennis ball. It is a bit of a trek for me to get over here, but it is definitely worth it for my pups! Completely fenced in area with a pond for them to swim and a path that goes around the pond if you feel like walking. They've got a few sitting areas and my favorite part--a wash station! So no worrying about getting a dirty dog in the car or convincing them it's bath time when you get home! (So bring a towel and some shampoo!) It's a win in my book! I think its a great place/opportunity but I won't be back untill someone shows me the water has been cleaned up. Where does the water come from and where does it outflow? It's nice that there's a path you can walk around , so you can all keep moving. He was exhausted afterwards. Absolutely the best dog park around! We couldn't be more fortunate to have this right here in our city. I meet people every time that travel a good distance to bring their pups here. My dog cries for joy every time we turn into the parking lot, so hard to get her to leave! Great place for swimming and meeting new dog friends. There are 3 wash off stations, don't forget your shampoo and towel. If you have a small dog there is a separate fenced in area. Good place to walk a few laps around the lake, plenty of picnic tables and a bench swing to relax. The city does weekly water testing, there were a few weeks this year where they had to close for water treatment to ensure the dogs are safe. Cant wait for the park to open up soon! read more
