I live near this park and have been using it for over 60 years. Here is some updated information: Swimming is no longer allowed. (for humans) Dogs can swim on Thursdays only. There is no charge to get in. The paved road around the lake has been split into a one-way driving/biking road and a with an adjacent walking lane. There is a Hike/bike trail called The Freedom Trail that borders this park. Metro Parks Summit County is going to add a connector trail between them in 2026. The Freedom Trail in this area is a rail trail, so it is pretty flat. There is an area called Tallmadge Meadows that to me is a separate park, because the two areas have very different prior ownership and history, but Metro Parks considers them to be the same park. The parking for Tallmadge Meadows is right around the corner from South River Rd. on South Main St. (Rt 91). There is also a trailhead in Munroe Falls for the Summit County Bike and Hike Trail. It is about a ¼ mile North of South River Rd and runs along the Cuyahoga River. I used to be a Firefighter/EMT in Munroe Falls and it was not unusual for us to get called out to the "Metro Park" and have to ask, "which one"? All 3 of these are great parks and I consider myself luck to live in between them. read more

Great spot for a going away picnic planned at the last moment. I was happy. The bathrooms were open and clean, plenty of trash, young screaming kids, sand, and stuff to do. Its COVID season, I haven't gotten out anywhere so this is the best I can do since I haven't eaten outside since Feb. This was nice but, of course, catered with my own cooking. Gosh, what a great hidden little park. I almost think I should write a bad review to keep people away. LOL. But this is a wonderful park. So this has a single 2.2 mile walk path. It is not flat, but compared to many, this is a fairly easy walk. There are lots folks that are out running as well if that helps gauge the slopes. It has a fenced in lake for swimming ($5.00/person) complete with life guards. It is lake water and not a pool, but has a sandy bottom with a good slope to the deep portion. You can sit in the shallow. It has a grass to water and a sandy beach section. Lots of covered areas and BBQ spots. You can rent paddle boats. There is a first aid station and dressing room. It is just a great park. read more

MFMP is a favorite swimming spot in the area. It is a decent sized lake, complete with a sandy beach area, that does allow swimming. The lake has sandy spots, spots that go from grass to water, and if you walk out, it does get deep. The beach area is usually crowded with small children, just a forewarning. There are also life guards on duty, and they do have safety breaks. The park also has a changing area and restrooms, lots of covered picnic areas, and ample room to throw a blanket out on the grass near the water and make your own picnic area. There is a charge for entry, I believe it's somewhere around $5 per person. You can also get a season pass. In addition to the lake, there is a trail and room for exploring. Overall this is a tucked away little spot to beat the heat in the summer that won't break the bank. read more

A very nice, welcoming park (unlike some other parks in the area) with amazing topography, plenty of photo opportunities, and beautiful sights and sounds. Rules/restrictions are clearly stated and the park is well maintained. The paths are long enough to allow you excellent cardio as well. All in all, a nice park that I strongly recommend. read more

This is a summit county metro park that closes at 7pm?!?!?! Maybe I'm used to the national park or cuyahoga county metro parks but this seems very odd to me. The beautiful lake was ruined by putting a trump-esque fence around the entire lake I'm guessing to be able to enforce the hours of operation. Plus they charge to get in. read more

Munroe Falls Metro Park is a very nice metro park located in Munroe Falls, It is about a mile off of 91. The centerpiece of the park is a lake which is open for swimming during the summer. There is only one trail, which is a bit of a drawback, but the trail is very nice. There are a couple of ponds and plenty of hills along it. It is a loop, which is always a plus. Overall, if you're in NE Summit County and are looking to get in touch with nature, consider Munroe Falls Metro Park. read more

I enjoy taking my kids here to swim. I personally liked it better before they put the fence up and now your forced to park in the crowded main lot. I can spend a whole day there grilling out then playing basketball, volleyball, tennis or let my kids play on the playground. read more

Been swimming here since I was little, taking my son since he was little... this year though was disgusting. Big clumps of nasty "Algae" I think? I don't know but it was gross. Tried 3 times to go this year... just to leave. I'm not splashing clumps of algae in my 7 year olds face. I know they test the water... but it should be closed to public when it's like that. Or at least warn people before they pay. Me and 3 people left after seeing it and paying. read more

It's a scenic park with a lake and trail. There seems to be confusion on here about the swimming and the trail. The trail is called Indian Spring and it's a loop so you WILL NOT end up in the Stow area. You'll end up right where you started. It's about 2 miles long and you pass by a spring and a pond. The lake is open for swimming from Memorial Day through mid August and costs $4 per person. You can drive in and get to the trail without paying , because the area where you pay is walk-up. They stamp your hand if you want to leave and do the trail and then return to the beach. The beach is nice but I can swim in a bigger lake for free, so I don't know if I would frequent this place for swimming. I'm going to note to you also that the park staff seems a little... Rude. They seem like they are watching you like a hawk on the beach and one time, my husband and I walked (not drove) to the park entrance at sunset and 2 park rangers laughed at us for not knowing it was closed?? and acted like we were going to bring drugs to the park..they watched and laughed as we turned around to leave. read more

There have been a lot of recent changes to this park, hopefully ones that make your visit there less frustrating; as this is not a park you can visit year round. You'd think that during the spring/summer months that all parks would be open to the public; however, this is not the case with this specific location due to their beach. Unless you want to swim & have access to the hiking trials, volleyball & tennis courts, shelter houses and playgrounds- you have to pay a fee to go swimming. And yes, this is exactly as stupid & unfair as it sounds. Last year (because there's no signs at the parks entrance stating this) I went to walk my dogs around the lake & was denied access to the hiking trails unless I was willing to pay a fee to swim even though I didn't want to use the beach. The girl working the booth was incredibly rude & almost wouldn't let me through their gates so that I could turn around (you can't reverse due to their lane set up) without paying anyways; seriously wtf! But other than the bad customer service & stupidity of the moron who made this rule; it's an okay park. There's really only one hiking trail that is usually so muddy you can't use it but when it's dry out it is a weird and unlabeled path of twisting roots and confusing routes...eventually you will actually wind up in the back of another park near Stow. But it's okay if you can figure out where you are...walking around the lake is actually the only pretty part of the park I enjoy but now they've put a weird fence all around part of the lake so who knows what'll happen next... read more

this park on s. river rd. is awesome! the price can't be beat (unless it were free), the lake is great. no matter how many people are there it doesn't feel crowded. if you enjoy sitting in the sun or in the shade, on the grass or on the sand there's a place for you! the trail is great. you can take a little walk around the trail then go jump in the lake. plus the concessions are also very reasonably priced & a wide varity of choices. read more
