We were a big group, seven ladies. We made last minute reservations because we had just finished wine tasting. The service was super friendly. Some of us spoke Spanish but you didn't need to because the servers knew English. The menu was both in Spanish and English. I had the enchiladas verdes and I thought they were just okay. My favorite part of my meal was the freshly homemade tortillas! My girls all loved their meals and they ordered the more pricier items like seafood and steak so maybe the restaurant specializes in that! We ordered guacamole which was amazing. It needed salt but thankfully there were salt shakers on the table. As part of the service, they give you the house made salsa and a buffet of salad options with dressings! The salsa and the salad were so good. For dessert we had the Xangos and I wish I didn't have to share my dessert because it was so delicious but I did. The custard was so delicious in my dessert. This dinner was just a perfect way to celebrate my friend in Rosarito! The best Mexican food I've ever had, and I'm from Southern California where Mexican joints are a dime a dozen. Everything is FRESH and homemade, down to the salsa, chips, and tortillas. No shortcuts here. You have to taste it to experience the real difference. For a steak house, I was surprised that this place rates a tad below a Sizzler in taste. Cuts of meat were underwhelming. And the bill for 5 adults and 2 kids was about $250. Also their credit card machine was not working so they could only accept cash ‍ My most expensive and meal in Rosarito over 10 years in Baja and my least satisfying. Save the money and get a far better meal in Valle de Guadalupe! Also, I notice the place was busy and when I walked out, I questioned a fellow American what they thought of their meal. Basically they said they live in Rosarito and there just isn't much selection. So you gotta take what you can get. In Tijuana the food is far better as well and better bang for your buck. read more

Most fantastic dinner of my life! Beyond the ambiance of the beautiful rustic restaurant that makes you feel as though you are in a movie, the food is to die for as well. The owner was so gracious and gave us a wonderful tour before sitting down to tell us about all of their ingredients, special techniques and dishes they offer (including the best tequila-infused olive oil dressing!). The portions are large, the quality of the food and service is impeccable, and truly the entire establishment and experience is comparable to Michelin-starred restaurants. Not to mention, delicious drinks (we ordered Palomas, margaritas, etc) and very heavy pours. If you are visiting Mexico, you need to add this place to your list or you will regret it. I tried my best to speak in Spanish to the waiter but when he saw me struggling he kindly spoke English. Food was amazing, we came for breakfast. Then the delicious, fresh, made to order salsa was followed by a salad bar (huge lazy Susan of awesomeness) brought right to our table just for us! My friends and I had a great experience here. The inside is very unique as it looks very game of thrones. It was chilly in there so I recommend you bundle up if you go on a cold night. I'll post a picture of the NY Steak that I ordered so that you can see for your own eyes. Grisly, poor sear (probably cooked on a pan or grill that wasn't hot enough), and low quality meat. I guess in retrospect, I should have looked at the pictures in advance, because I knew it would be bad the moment it hit the table. Lesson learned -- don't try to order american steaks at mexican restaurants, even if they're "known for their steaks." I have been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. The food and the service is typically amazing. The food today was no exception. I had the chilaquiles (red and green) with egg. This is the first time I have ever been charged a higher price than was listed on the menu. When I brought it to the servers attention, he made an excuse. What's worse is that I was asked if I lived local or not, making it feel like a "gringo" tax. Very disappointed and not sure I will ever return because this is no way to do business. Tapanco is our favorite restaurant in Rosarito Beach! We've eaten there MANY times. One week we ate dinner there one night and had breakfast the next day. Both meals were very good, but the stand out for me was the garden ambiance and the excellent service. You have choices for seating. You can sit in the inside of the restaurant, the garden, or the ocean view second story dining area. We checked out the upstairs and it was nice, but the garden is very pretty and we liked to sit at the table right next to the waterfall. We were attended to by who I believe was the manager, Mile, (not sure on the spelling), and several servers. We were given chips and salsa, but they also have salsa made right at your table and I recommend you give that a try. You can direct the flavor of the salsa they make by letting them know what flavors you want. If you want it hot, make sure they put in enough chiles! Everyone who provided service to us did a great job. All of our meals were delicious. My husband ordered a taco plate and was impressed that he got three great tacos with beans and rice for around $6US. He said it was great. My mom and I both had the garlic shrimp dinner and it was fantastic; the shrimp was cooked nicely and it was served with a baked potato, which I loved. My dad had the steak and he said it was really good. The freshly made tortillas were muy rico! A nice part of the meal is a "salad bar" is brought right to your table, with a selection of veggies and dressings to make your individual salad. Overall, we all really enjoyed our food. When we returned a few days later for breakfast, the breakfast selections were also good and they provide fresh home made jams for your toast. Machaca and chilaquiles were the orders of that day and we all liked our meals that time, too, except for my mom who decided she doesn't like chilaquiles afterall. We have had a couple experiences that weren't as stellar as this one, but the best part is that the managers are very professional and take care of you, so if there is a problem, they make it right. I highly recommend the restaurant for breakfast or dinner, although dinner was by far my favorite. They accept Visa & MC, but in Mexico it's always a better deal to pay with cash because the exchange rates fluctuate (not just in the country, but also from business to business!) and all credit card transactions are done in Pesos. You could end up paying quite a bit more even if your credit card company doesn't assess an International exchange fee. To find Tapanco from Rosarito, just head south on the Tijuana-Ensenada Free Road and it's about 2.5 miles south of the 7-11 station at the south end of Rosarito. You'll find it right near the second OXXO store on the west side of the road. WHY NOT!?! read more

Tapanco is the cousin restaurant to El Nido and is better in my opinion. It's located outside of town and is much smaller. They have the same atmosphere and ambiance. And they have Alfredo the owner who is always around and makes sure that his customers are having a good time. The meats are good and gamey, but specifically the salsa is the best. They have a cart that goes table to table and prepares fresh salsa with a molcajete. There is nothing that compares. Meals include a cream tortilla soup and a buffet style salad is brought to your table. The are known for preparing their meats in a stone oven. They also make fresh tortillas in the dining room. They also have the traditional Mexican fare along with breakfast, but either way you go, you won'l lose. read more

The flavors were bland and the beers were not authentic. Although service is ok and the people are nice the food was disappointing. I hope they work on the quality of the food. Service was super attentive to the point that any time our heads were looking around to take in the decor, they would ask us if we needed anything. Great cheese for two with chorizo, super salad with 6 different dressings, nice smoked Tbone for $19! Perfect dinner for us except they were out of tres leches cake! Easy to get to just about three miles south of Rosarito Beach Hotel on the beach side of the street. Easy parking - there's an attendant that watches your car. You can't miss the sign after you pass the second Oxxo in Popotla. If you see a third one, you've gone too far. We would definitely come back! Maybe for breakfast.
