I can't believe I've slept on TAP Wine Lounge for so long (opened 3 years ago)! Well, I finally checked it out because of their new kitchen collab with Elevated Eats 916 (reviewed separately). As soon as I walked in, I took a seat at the bar and was warmly welcomed in by the enthusiastic co-owner, Cynthia. What a doll! She was super friendly and shared her story as a small business owner. I love how she remodeled an old dive bar into into a cozy, intimate space for like-minded artisans, community, and neighborhood. They host different events most nights that are open to the public. As I mentioned, Elevated Eats 916 provide a vegan menu that include mushroom sliders, avocado fries, and mac n cheese. TAP also has a seasonal rotating wine menu, featuring local or black-owned wines and also vegan wines. That night, they happened to be serving (Dusty) Baker Family Vineyard reds, one of my favorites at the moment! Had a really fun night Friday supporting a colleague of mine for an event! 10/10 venue was so unique and so welcoming. The wine choices were great, there was a home made drink I wish I could remember the name but my goodness that was so delicious. They've recently partnered with Elevated eats which is a vegan food restaurant who serves different mushroom sandwiches and sliders that are sooo bomb and yummy! Let me start by saying that every single nice thing said about the space and the owners is absolutely true!! It is a wonderful and comfortable spot showcasing some local talent art wise and run by the most delightful and charming person on the planet. Cynthia took great care of us and made our night truly special. The food we had was delicious and the Cabernet was wonderfully balanced. Cynthia chose the wine for us and has incredible knowledge about her products. Where this fell short for us was with pricing. So much so that I actually researched and compared several local higher end restaurants with what we received. We ordered the shrimp which was $18 for 3 very medium sized shrimp. Hook and Ladder sells their garlic shrimp for $12 which includes bread and 9 shrimp. The Nook wine bar has their 6 gambas priced at $16. You get where I'm going here. We felt this was equally true for the small flatbread we received. The wine pricing is even more staggering. Most of the wines at TAP are priced per glass at the retail bottle price. This is bananas!! Their Riesling is $26 a glass and the bottle retails for $27. The Theopolis Pinot noir is priced the same for a glass as it retails for bottle wise - a mind blowing $45 a glass. I compared their pricing to Ella and Firehouse. Ella appears to charge about 1/3 of the bottle price for a glass and Firehouse is charging almost half. I just can't imagine how this will be sustainable. There is a serious lack of value here in an already crazy inflated world. read more

I have just found my new favorite wine spot! To start, the owner is a ray of sunshine and an absolute delight! Every single wine here is a Black Owned wine and she is extremely knowledgeable about each and every wine she has in stock. This place not only has amazing wine and food, it's also all about the community, giving back, and supporting local. Everything is carefully and beautifully laid out and it gives such a cozy vibe whether you choose to sit inside our utilize their outdoor patio. Got the chance to check out the new Black-owned wine lounge in Old North Sac. The owner, Ms. Cynthia greeted my party with the biggest smile and made an effort to check in on my group throughout our visit making sure we were content. TAP, which stands for The Artisan Pour, features Black boutique wines by the glass or bottle and delicious tapas from local chefs. Be sure to check them out before they blow up! I had the following: -Stover's Oak 2019 Reserve Red - very reasonably priced bottle, red blend (if I hadn't ordered three of these bad boys I might be able to recall the price). -Grilled Salmon Nuggets - opted for the lemon and herb sauce with garlic aioli. Didn't know what to expect but these little nuggies were so dang good! -Goat Cheese Fritters - no explanation needed, these were dank. The fruit preserve was the perfect accompaniment. -Fried Brussels - another winner. I have never met a fried brussel I didn't like. -Olives & Bread plate - variety of olives, served with cauliflower dip and toasted french bread. Starting from the free valet service, we knew this was going to be a great place. The attendant was so nice! He even helped my mom out of the car and opened the door for her. We were sat in very comfortable chairs and given a wine menu. We ordered their Cabernet by the glass. It was SO good that we ended up buying a bottle! For $30 a bottle, it's a better option. Since we had a late lunch, we were not very hungry and the small plate food options worked for us. The owner and her staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of all night. Next time, we would like to have drinks here then go to the owner's comedy club down the street! read more

I was so happy to see that TAP was opening up and made my reservation immediately. This was the opening weekend to the public and they were ready for us. The decor and hospitality was very inviting. Good wine list and the pairing menu was perfect for the wines. My friend and I had the crimini mushrooms, lamb lollipop and salmon nuggets. All were delicious. I tore into the lamb before realizing I needed pics. Hard to wait to get this picture before getting that last lollipop! Great service, especially for opening weekend. Came here on a Thursday night with a few friends after an event a few doors down and was greeted warmly as soon as we walked in. The ambiance was really warm, inviting, and comfortable. The couches and chairs were even more comfortable! They had a wine flight special that myself and another friend got, while two other friends shared a bottle of their red Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. All the wines were good! We were offered their food menu, but had already eaten so we just stuck to our drinks. When we were finishing up (which we later realized was past their closing time), they were more than kind and split our bills in the way we asked. The prices were really reasonable as well! Once we verbalized that we were hurrying out and we're sorry that we hadn't realized they were already closed, they were nice about it and basically said no worries and didn't rush us out at all. My husband and i stopped by last night and had a wonderful date night. The paintings on the wall were awesome. You have to take the tour with Elijah and hear how the paintings put together tells a story. It opens up your mind and some serious deep thinking goes on. Cynthia, the owner makes you feel like you have known her for your whole life. She is very informative about wines and her community. I love her spirit and comment to her community. The environment makes you want to just wind down and relax. Great place after a hard day a work or just life in general. I highly recommend you stopping by.
