Of course, the agents working the JFK flight are the same outsourced people who worked the AMS flight. The young lady who printed a baggage tag and a boarding pass was polite and friendly. She did suggest the partner lounge here that I would be able to access, but it's on the groundside of the border check and I probably wouldn't have enough time. I got a sandwich instead. Yeah, that passport control check is a thing but at least if you've entered the European Union through Portugal, you can use the electronic passport queue. Otherwise it was going to be at least an HOUR in queue. Boarding was smooth for me as I have status. While I was not in Delta One on this flight, as a Diamond Medallion (for a little while longer) I get to board in the very next group. Beyond that, it looked like a bit of a crush. If you have a short layover, I recommend taking the Red Line three stops to Oriente to walk along the water and see unique public art. The Metro station itself is easy to navigate as it's at the end of the line. There's no way to get on going the wrong direction. There's interesting character art along the walls. There's a little shop and vending machines with drink and snacks.

Metro Aeroporto is the terminus of the Red Line on the Lisbon Metro. The station opened in 2012, as…read morepart of the Metro extension to the Airport. From here, you can get into the city centre in around 20 minutes. The Lisbon Metro seemed straightforward to navigate between lines and in stations. Ticket machines have an English language option. The pricing is reasonable, costing €1.80 for unlimited use of the metro within one hour, however, you must also purchase the "navegante card" for 50 cents, this can be re-loaded, but with it only being a tiny bit of paper, it is easy to damage or misplace, and the cost does add up if you keep leaving it behind. There are lots of ticket machines at this particular station, and there is a sign right behind them explaining the tickets in English, there weren't too many staff members offering assistance, I only noticed one employee who seemed very busy dealing with tourists. The main entrance/exit to the station is right outside Humberto Delgado Airport, so it's easy to access the Terminal from here, it is also a short walk to the shuttle bus if you're unlucky enough to be travelling from Terminal 2. I didn't notice any elevators inside the station, but the escalators are easy to find and follow up to the top, and shouldn't be too difficult to manage with a suitcase. There is a lot of empty space in the station, in one of the halls, there was a stand selling cheap tacky souvenirs, which would probably only be useful as a last-minute gift if you're heading to the Airport and have forgotten to get something for someone back home. The art around the station was amusing, with caricatures all over the walls. The Red Line overall is one of the best on the network for station art, so be sure to keep an eye out on your journey. 3* - Decent metro station serving the Airport, no worse or better than any other Airport but certainly useful.

There are ticketing kiosks which is useful because my 24 hour pass from the Lisbon network didn't work here. Cheap enough for an 8 minute ride - less than €2 each way. They have clearly visible signs showing not only how long until the next ferry departs but also what percent full it is. Helpful info! There is a small convenience store and some other retail. The station was under major renovations when I was here in January 2022. Easy connection to the trams and buses which took me most of the way to the Christ statue. I returned with a walk along the waterfront after dinner at Ponto Final and that five star review is coming soon. Inside the waiting area, some seating and some vending machines. The "boarding" sound goes and everyone starts moving for the ferry. It's an easy walk for a shop that does this a dozen times a day back and forth across the river. Overall, as pleasant an experience as one can have on mass transit.

Inside the terminal in Casilhas we bought one way tickets and they were €1.30 per person. The trip across the river was fast and smooth, a perfect ending to our day of walking in Cascais and visiting the Cristo Rei statue.

For almost the same price as airfare, we get to do a 16 day cruise to France! On this trip, we also visited Canada, Portugal, and Spain, but you know all that because you are following. Anyway, this is a low cost company so I have low expectations. I still remember our first MSC cruise in 2020 from Italy to Spain, Portugal, Canary Islands, Morocco, etc. A week later COVID hit.The ship after us in Rome, Italy did not let people off; we got so lucky. That was an eye opening cultural experience. But it helped set my expectations low. In summary, one of my most relaxing travels. Actually, I think I got record sleep on this cruise. Also more relaxing since we have done many of the ports and cities on this itinerary already. Our goal was to really start our vacation in France. See my excessive pictures spread out in all the MSC ports from 4/19 to 5/4/26. Ambiance - A larger ship than I typically prefer, but with only 4k guests (out of 6k), more than enough room for me. But then again, I am easy going and have low expectations. The food exceeded my expectations. And it did last year in MSC Japan also. Service - Expected, you get what you pay for. Price - Affordable. It is right down the street from Praca de Luis Camoes You can hang out in the waiting room, print boarding passes make photocopies, etc. nice clean place and the guy was very friendly. Looks like about 1 euro per bag per hour, a little more or less, depending on size and length of time. Seems completely worth it if you want to enjoy an afternoon in Lisboa without dragging a suitcase around what must be the worst cobblestones and the #*$@$@$& narrowest sidewalks I have ever seen. Or just walk in the streets and get plastado'd by a nutso tram driver. You won't have to worry about your flight at all.

The people around us were too busy to help us. Finally, we went to the cafe to ask for help. The owner sold us a one day pass rather than a round trip pass... Since we had the more expensive pass (double the price rather than round trip tickets) we decided to make an extra stop at Belem to get our $$ worth. Then when we got back, we found these two tourist girls also struggling to buy their train tickets, so we gave them ours as we were trying to pay it forward. Glad the tickets can get more use. I do not think they were trying to rip us off, but there was a language barrier. We appreciated the help. Price - Bought a one day pass. I think we paid approximately $8 US for each ticket. On the green line, the next station is Baixa-Chiado towards Telheiras. The metro station is completely handicapped accessible with lifts and escalators between the street level and platform level. There are automated ticket vending machines for the metro. I was here to catch the ferry, which of course is at street level. Separate vending machines for ferry tickets and a clear display indicating not only how long until the next ferry departs, the gate (there are three gates) and what percentage full. Purchasing the ferry ticket was easy (only €1.80 including the €0.50 for a new Viagem card) and quick. I was able to buy my ticket at 16:35, scan it and still board the 16:40 ferry to Cacilhas. 40 minutes or less from Lisbon's Cais do Sodré, this is the end (or the beginning) of the line. As…read moreterminal railway stations go, it's perfectly OK. There are multiple tracks and you might need to ask someone which is the next train to depart. Or you can just follow everyone who is boarding one or the other. If you miss it, there's another in 30 minutes (off peak) or 12 minutes (peak). But before that, you will need to purchase a ticket to scan at the turnstile. The machine has an "English" button and accepts cards, notes and coins. One-way fare is €2,30 and you should expect a conductor on board checking tickets. It is easy to find your way to the bus stop from here as there are signs and a tunnel. The 403 bus stops here for the ride to Cabo da Roca. Head out and to the left, stay on the sidewalk and follow the coastline to the Cidadela de Cascais or the Farol de Santa Marta. Beyond those, it is a 1.5 km walk to the Boca do Inferno but it's mostly smooth and handicapped accessible. Or you can wait for the M27 bus that goes the long way. The station has some snack shops and quick restaurants but you're also right into downtown, so there is much more nearby including all the tourist shops you can imagine.
