When they learned I had a five hour drive ahead of me, they let me know I could get a free refill on my coffee before I headed out. Plus, the delicious breakfast burrito was HUGE! Stayed in Taos visiting family for a week and a half. Did a whole tour of breakfast burrito options, and by the 5th day this was consistently our breakfast spot for the next 4 mornings. 1) yes, the burritos are preprepared and microwaved on demand 2) yes, that upcharged salsa is likely Pace's out of the bottle 3) yes, the coffee was pretty mid (from people who are ridiculous coffee snobs with professional equipment at home - honestly the coffee was just fine but stick to a cappuccino or cortado or straight iced coffee) But, I tell you what - that combination of seasoned potatoes, ridiculously crispy and salty chopped bacon, green chilies, the right amount of cheese and somehow still perfectly moist my scrambled eggs, and that nuked feeling in the roof of my mouth from a scorching hot burrito - it was heaven. Something about the sum of its parts had me craving this for days after leaving Taos. It was that delicious. My wife had equal feelings about the chorizo burrito. Also, don't sleep on their quiche. Our toddler, ever the sophisticated food connoisseur, loved the spinach quiche, and we did too. The staff were really nice, small town polite and gave our toddler a lot of attention. Also, they have a drive through - that was really awesome. On our last day, we mentioned we were heading back home and we were sad to not come back for breakfast the next day. So nice. Loved it, will return with vigor when we make it back this way. read more

Had my partner pick me up a latte and his son got a smoothie. Zayd was sucking down the smoothie like nobody's business when they walked in to deliver my latte. I was recently traveling through Taos and was looking for a good place to stop for breakfast and a coffee. After reading a couple reviews, I saw that many people recommended Taos Java for their breakfast burritos. The cashier was very friendly and patient and I absolutely loved the vibes of the place. It was extremely cozy! The breakfast burritos didn't quite live up to the expectations. They were soggy and under seasoned which was a little disappointing but the coffee was excellent! Great coffee! Cute shop, lovely staff. However, the fruit smoothies are actually just sugar syrup (no fruit in them at all) I wish this were more clear on the menu. And the burritos are pre-made, then heated in a microwave and the ingredients tasted artificial/processed to me, not my favorite. I imagine the bagels are a good bet. read more

Perfect morning retreat for a coffee and breakfast burrito. I had a piñon coffee with cream and sugar. I brought my own thermos. Service is excellent and very friendly. I also had a green Chile and cheese breakfast burrito which is stuffed with potatoes and eggs as well. A touch of spicy salsa was the perfect accompaniment. Right across the street from our hotel, so I walked across to get some good coffee and was not disappointed! Service was great! My wife drinks black coffee and the barista made sure to let me know they had 3 options and the flavor profile for each. I got the medium roast and had a happy wife. I got the caramel macchiato and it was fantastic! Better than the "big" coffee chains. They also had breakfast burritos that I want to come back and try...didn't get one on this trip. What a cute place! We ordered a caramel macchiato and latte with a slice of blueberry loaf and a bacon green chili burrito. All were great. The ladies behind the counter were friendly and pretty sure the owner was in the process of cranking out more burritos and he was nice enough to cut ours into two separate pieces and bagged them up so my husband and I could each have our own on the road. It was a good sized burrito! Could feed two easily. What a lovely establishment. read more

The staff at the drive-through were amazing. I went through the drive-through twice and both times the service and the personalities were incredible. Great local vibes. It wasn't ski season when I went but this would be a perfect stop on the way up to the slopes as they have a drive-thru. Lots of options and they have enough for breakfast as well. Plus, whenever I'm visiting New Mexico, I love places that serve Piñon coffee! read more

My gf and I were visiting Taos for the week and decided to stop here for coffee and burritos. We were not disappointed, this place was amazing! Everyone working there was extremely friendly and the inside was cute, warm and welcoming. The breakfast burritos were some of the best we've ever had that we had to come a second time before our drive back home to Texas! The owner (I wish I had gotten her name) recognized us from the day before and threw in an extra muffin for us to try + gave our dog a treat! We will absolutely be thinking about Taos Java for a long time and hope to come back one day! read more

Such a welcoming and cozy coffee shop at 6:15 am on a cold winter morning. The bacon and green chile breakfast burrito was full of fluffy eggs, potatoes with plenty of bacon and just the right amount of green chile. It was excellent and the Americano was as good or better than I've had anywhere else. I highly recommend this place. read more

I'd been a regular at TAOS JAVA since Donna opened it in 2005. I used to go every single morning after getting out of work from Don Fernando. After I moved to ABQ and even Cali, the only place I cared to stop at when I came home was Taos Java. After Donna passed, I was sad. She was so proud of that shop and the way she kept it old school (and it paid off). After the doors closed last year when I moved back, it was even sadder. There wasn't any place in taos left to get great coffee. Today was the first time I've been able to stop by since they reopened under the new owners. It's nice to see familiar faces there and even better: the caramel macchiatos (my fave) are the same, and the food is even better. Imagine my surprise when I ordered breakfast burritos and they came with salsa... the best salsa in taos! For once, I have found a place that has salsa with a kick to it, not that watered down gringo tomato paste other places in town have lowered their standard to in order to appease the growing transplant population. I'll always support Taos Java. read more

Came here for coffee but my favorite thing about this place has to be the guy who runs it. Super happy, super helpful, super kind! The coffee is great and he helped me decide which one to choose. Honestly, the coffee (light roast) we got was bitter with less acid than I like and didn't have a lot of tasting notes. However they also had food (lox) and burritos, and a lot of other coffee shops just have the carbs (muffins and biscotti, etc. they were pretty busy but got the food and coffee to us at a decent time. Main reason they are getting 5 stars is they were so kind and it seemed so genuine. Nice for a last place out of town read more
