Tom was great! I went in there to get an anniversary gift engraved and it was perfect. Would recommend

Tanners did a quick turnaround for a small brass plaque I needed. I really appreciated their cooperation!

It is my pleasure to recommend Tom at Tanner's engraving on Race Street. Tom is a no-nonsense craftsman. He gets the job done quickly and gives very professional and informed advice. I like his pricing and his work. He is located on Race Street with a well-marked store front and ample parking in his private lot. read more

I got a watch for my boyfriend and the establishment is very professional every was completed in the time promised and the engraving was beautiful. read more

When I inquired as to the pricing and if they could do better I was met with what amounted to a lecture. Really didn't appreciate it. A mere 5 or 10% discount was all it would have taken this new resident to the area to become a loyal customer. Stating that their competitor had a higher minimum didn't help matters any. I called that competitor as soon as I got back in my car and learned their minimum job charge was 33% lower than I paid. read more

The engraving was not easy on the piece I wanted engraved. But he did a great job and it will be looked at often with joy.

Tanners Engraving made up 10 large engraved plates for a work project I am working on. The quality, speed and workmanship is outstanding and exceeded my expectations! I will return to Tanners Engraving for any future engraving project I need! Thank you Tom! read more

Cannot comment on quality of work as they were not able to help with my project. But as far as customer service goes - had very unpleasant and not friendly discussion, for no apparent reason. Pity. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Cathy but in a hasty and unfortunate situation. My best friend passed away suddenly and as a tribute to him I wanted something engraved with his name on it saying something positive and reflective for his mother. Cathy was very helpful in picking out just the right piece and just the right words and was able to deliver the symbolic gift at his funeral to his mother, whom so deeply appreciated the detail and thought that went into the memorial gift. I apologize for the sadness behind this review, but with the courtesy, attention and compassion of Cathy she made the experience so special! read more

Tanner's Engraving - Engraving Near Me - San Jose, California

I was in search for a high quality engraver, and was recommended to Tanner's Engraving. When I first met Tom, he was very courteous and professional. His shop is clean, and well kept. I had a very special item that I wanted engraved, and after discussing the details of the work with Tom, I felt comfortable in moving forward to use his services. I am very pleased with the quality of work Tom provides, and have used him twice to date. Selecting an engraver can be a very personal experience when the piece you are submitting holds sentimental meaning. If you are looking for someone who is meticulous, and takes pride in their work, I would encourage you to visit Tom and Tanner's Engraving. read more

Tom is the greatest. Not only does he di a fantastic job, and not only is his attention to detail second to none, he's got a super cute dog in the office just waiting for a pet! Seriously though, I dropped off my stuff for engraving and was told it would take a week or so. No problem, I wasn't in a rush, and had heard such good things about Tom's work. Low and behold I get a call the NEXT DAY (!) from Tom letting me know my piece was done. Can't ask for much better than that. When I picked it up a few days later I couldn't have been happier. Tom does great work, is a very nice man, and is very fairly priced. If you're ever in the need for engraving, don't even consider going anywhere else! read more

I had a urgent order for engraving on a curved stainless steel surface and Tanners were able to turn it around inside 24 hours, they even called me to check the spelling in the evening, so obviously they were working late to complete my order. Very professional, courteous and accessible. I would recommend Tanners unreservedly. read more

amazing people! had a simple job, but cathy was very responsive and the job came out excellent! price was reasonable too! thanks again!

Flawless craftsmanship job and quick turnaround time. Came in for a last second engraving and Tanner's was able to deliver perfect work in less than 24 hours at a reasonable price. Super professional staff with high attention to detail, and great taste!! They are masters of their craft!! read more

Need some engraving same day, for a small but important gift. Called around and spoke to a few different engravers that qouted me $75-100 for a small 2" 40 word plate. Thats when I found Tanner's on Race! Tom said he would do it same day for less than half the other rediculous quotes I got. So I emailed him the mock up I had made on my PC and drove over. The name plate was ready when I go there and looked great. What really impressed me was the way Tom attached the name plate. I watched him do it and the care he took to attach it perfectly is the kind of work you only see in a craftsman that strives for perfection not just because its good business but because its in his bones. I love to find a friendly family business like Tanner's. read more

Some of the most rude people I've ever encountered. The lady at the front desk, horrible attitude, horrible customer service. She would not honor a price quote her coworker has previously given me. Would never do business with people like this read more

I have used Tanners for about 6 months and find his customer service and quality to be above all other companies I have delt with. And I have used more then a few. I rarely write any reviews good or bad but in this case I felt it nessisary to share the great work and solid customer service I have and continue to receive for this local shop. I had a black tungsten tag I needed engraved, and he did a great job. Turns out, the tag was so hard it couldn't be scratched with a diamond, but he managed with a spinning diamond drill. I was impressed with how fast it was ready, and how nice it looked, and also surprised at how little he charged me. In short, he did a tough job well, quickly, and inexpensively. I have had Tom and Cathy do a bunch of stuff for me and my company. Tom has always asked the right questions and if there was ever a mistake we worked to fix it correctly. Most recently for a company closing dinner, I had these favors engraved and they came out awesome. CEO, Chief Legal Officer, GM of our group all commented on how nicely the work was done. Always great service and friendly! I would highly recommend. read more

I had a really custom job. It took 20 hours, over the course of 5 visits to get it done. There were 10 items to be engraved, each had custom fonts, artwork, etc. Tom was super accommodating to my schedule and to my expectations for quality. I was able to work with him during the entire time and had 100% control over how the parts came out. Totally exceeded my expectations, and to boot the price was better than if I had to send the parts out to be done elsewhere. read more

I put in my order and had it done by the next day. They made me two signs for my door (very simply engraved signs) one for each line of business I have. They also made a nice instructional sign about the rules of our business for clients to see. Very happy with the product and the price was great too! read more

Tom is a great guy! First time doing business with him and definitely won't be the last! Thanks for the work sir! (Terminator voice) I'll be back read more

This is all about Customer Service, or shall I say lack of... Apparently because my request for engraving was extremely minimal--it appeared that my business wasn't really wanted. I was tersely informed that there's a "minimum charge of $20"... I said no problem. I understand a guys got to make a buck! That said, it appeared to me that I was wasting Tom's time--and he could care less whether he got my business or not. The engraving was done fine--but I won't go back, and I will urge my friends to find a place that values customers REGARDLESS of how big their order is. read more

1) This shop messed up two pieces after hand holding the owner through the job and spoon feeding all the information and details. I painstakingly prepared the correct file formats for his antiquated machine and process (Corel 6 or whatever 1995 software he is using). He does not know any new programs or techniques. I then sent the exact reference images with placement and designs, 1 for each piece. This was an update to an older email. He never bothered to take a look at what was sent or is incompetent as you can not ask for any more clear direction. 2) 3 weeks after dropping off the piece for work, I called just to get an update on the project or see if it was started. He begins with a rant about how these jobs are complicated, he will get to it whenever and ends the conversation with "you can pick them up if you can't wait". I was just asking when they would be ready after 3 weeks with no update. Great attitude for a business owner. 3) Owner posts a picture of the project without my knowledge or consent on the site. When confronted, says his wife put it up, total bs. 4) Sends pleasant emails after review. Thanks for the laughs Tom. I spoke to another customer who had the same experience with a messed up job. You can take your chances with this temperamental owner or go to a professional and get the job done right the first time with good customer service. read more

We are so pleased with the engraving job that they did. It was done in a very timely manner and the response from our recipient was worth us waiting to find the very best engraver for the job. I highly recommend Tanner's Engraving and hope that they remain at the top of their game for a long time to come as we'll be returning as loyal customers. read more

Superb signs & advice: Found Tanners Engraving via a referral from a retail store. Started work as a GM at a Family Entertainment Center, I was looking for custom signage not available at the hardware store or mail order. Took some sketches to Tom, and he provided me with options and suggestions that had not even crossed my mind. The end result was professional signs at a price even a small business could afford. I worked with Tom to get a custom design engraved on a pair of silver cufflinks for the best man at my wedding. He was very knowledgeable and asked all the right questions to ensure a nice finished product. There was a decent amount of back and forth for a while to get the design right for engraving, but that is to be expected with anything custom. Very affordable and professional, he gave me his original quote even though he had to put in some extra time to help me get the design right. read more
