Not the biggest fan of this place. I really wish I didn't have to write a negative review since Frankies has such a high rating and it's a little family shop, but my experience here left a sour taste in my mouth. We came in with a custom award bought elsewhere hoping that we could get some help engraving one of the plaques on it. The woman helping us immediately asked us for the name of either the font or the method used to engrave the award. We honestly don't know anything about awards or engravings since this was just a little family gift, so we were clearly confused and expressed our unsureness of her question. She made us feel like total idiots, snapping at us afterwards and saying that we need to come in knowing this fact. We NEVER got an explanation of what she meant or how to figure out the answer and she quickly got our name and phone number and said she'd call us when it was done. She didn't even say we were at the end of our transaction or anything, so we took our card out like how a normal transaction goes, and she snapped at us again saying we pay when we pick it up. How were we supposed to know? I honestly don't know, but I feel like her hatred to us was very targeted. We are very young looking POC and we immediately felt unsafe stepping into the store... that's all I'll say about it. read more

I've been a customer here for about five years. As a high school coach, this is where I choose to get awards for my students. Frankie's has a large selection of different kinds of awards, including every sport you can imagine, trophies, a wide variety of plaques, and corporate-style glass or acrylic awards. The store is small, so examples of awards are often stacked 3- or 4-deep on shelves, but if you ask Gloria or Frankie for some ideas, they will be able to take you right to an award that can work for you. This review is based on a phone inquiry only. I called several area trophy shops looking for 4 plaques for student awards. Of course, I waited until the last minute and need them in 6 days, by Monday. I described what I was looking for, and the woman who initially answered my call said she wanted me to speak with Gloria. Then she set the phone down and I heard her tell Gloria about me, and heard Gloria sounding like she didn't want to talk to me, but finally she picked up. I pretended I hadn't heard, and I described what I am looking for again, to Gloria. She immediately told me that what I wanted (a small plaque with a stock emblem and engraved plate) is more expensive than an acrylic award, and started talking to me about acrylic awards. It wasn't really what I wanted, but I was willing to be convinced. However, it didn't sound like what we are looking for, and the price was WAY high ($50-60 each). I told her that and she said they have a $30-ish option in resin, which again wasn't what I'm looking for. I am shocked that they are the 3rd store I've spoken with that cannot do a simple 6x8" (ish) plaque for a student achievement award for a reasonable price! I'll keep looking... read more

Perhaps I caught them on a bad day, I'm not sure. I had a specific trophy I wanted that would need to be ordered from one of their vendors. I explained that it was for a person whom had recently passed away, and how we wanted to use the trophy. I was quoted a particular price for this trophy which seemed high, but it was a unique trophy, so I thought I'd check around since I had the exact part number of the trophy. Turns out the price I was quoted was more than 400% markup!! That's just ridiculous and unacceptable in my book. read more

I am in total agreement with most the high praises on here. These folks are far more reasonable than the previous place that used to do my engraving and just as good in quality. I feel we are fortunate to have them around to help those of us that are on a budget but also want "quality" in the product we buy. I use them to do the plaque engraving for my artwork and they are always quick with their work. I've been able to bring my artwork in so they can assess what plaque would work best & got the plaque done the same day while I sit there and wait. How amazing is that! Another time I had an award engraved to give someone as a gift and I couldn't believe their low price compared to this other place I had gone to for decades. Again Frankie's simply have the best hearts as the gift was to a young boy whom was going through difficulties in his life and the award was meant to cheer him up. I was purchasing a perpetual plaque for "Employee of the Month" at my day spa and she went above and beyond to create what I had envisioned. Even made suggestions that helped it look even more fantastic! I was wishing the wood was a tad bit darker... And she went through the entire box to find the walnut that was the darkest.
