I have to admit, after reading all the negative reviews, I was scared for my appointment. I had bought a coupon book which included a free microdermabrasion which is why I opted to go to Tania MediSpa. I have never had a microdermabrasion before which also made me nervous. The only bad element of my experience was actually the bus ride home after the appointment (bus never showed up). The reception area is pleasant and there is tea, coffee and water available. Signing in was quick and easy, filling out the usual forms. I was taken back for the procedure and the room was comfortable, the chair had a lovely plush blanket on it which was super comfy and the lighting was adjusted for me so I would be comfortable. Also, before she began working, she explained the whole procedure to me, showed me the tools she would use and indicated where I might feel discomfort. Everything was clean and the whole thing was very professional. I actually enjoyed myself and several days later my neck still feels very smooth (not so much my face but I went in with a lot of issues there so I'm not surprised and supposedly you are supposed to do microdermabrasion in a series of appointments to get the best results anyways). Booked an appointment Oct.31 at 11, and when I came Tania said "We aren't open until 1, just so you know we made an exception for you and your mom" since my mom and I were going together , like excuse me? You could have told me when I asked about this time you couldn't do it not make me feel guilty and talk down to me. I forgot to bring a voucher and I apologized and it was my fault and she said she couldn't do it my pore cleansing because she has to sign the voucher (even though she had done it before) and I drove all the way there so I left and she literally walked behind me and shut the door behind me. Her attitude rude as hell, I won't be going back. Place is dirty, disorganized and crammed, highly wouldn't recommend. Would give 0 stars if I could. Don't be fooled by the fake reviews. Tania is a scam artist. Do not buy any vouchers for her Spa. There are multiple reviews going back years stating the same thing. I recently got a voucher from an advertising agency. On of their representatives came into my work. My coworkers and I had all asked (multiple times) if there was any additional charges. The representative had said no and confirmed there would be no extra cost. I bought the voucher and had called to make an appointment. (which took about two weeks to actually get a hold of somebody) When I talk to a woman on the phone to book my appointment. She said it was "recommended" to get one of the bonuses that are listed on the voucher. I told her I wasn't sure and for now I just wanted the Chemical peel. When I went in today the girl at the front desk told me it's mandatory that I have to pay for an additional service of at least $25. She said multiple people had come in with the same issue. The girl at the front desk called the owner Tania. She told me there was nothing she was going to do that the ad agency had made a mistake. Either I would have to pay the additional cost or call the ad agency to see if they could refund my money. She would not refund my money herself and said it was not her problem to deal with. I asked her where on the voucher it stated I had to pay for something extra. Neither Tania or her her employee could show me where this was stated. I left and will never go back. read more

Happened to find this gem. First time booking a two hour massage. Angel was perfect. Perfect pressure. Listened to me about my area of concern and made sure he checked in with me. My only comment would be I was so relaxed and fell asleep when another therapist came into the room. Her entry into the room was not only weird but it disrupted the relaxed space I was in. If I could rate lower I would have. A lady came into my work place and sold me and two other staff members these $72 packages for Tania Medi spa, which seemed like an awesome deal at the time. After we had bought our packages my boss told us that she googled/ Yelped TaniaMedi spa and they had some really awful reviews, some saying you could never reach anybody, some saying the lady put them on hold and then hung up, ECT. So I decided I was going to call, and get some confirmation that I was going to receive everything my package entailed, and then I wanted to book my first appointment. So I called about 2-3 times before somebody answered, on both of their phone numbers, even left a message. Finally when a lady answered, it started off pretty good but as soon as I mentioned the reviews the lady got abrupt, started speaking over me and telling me that the reviews don't matter and going on about how she has nurses as staff or whatever. I continuously attempted to say that all I wanted was confirmation that I would receive everything on the package and she wouldn't let me speak she just kept blabbering on over top of me. So I started getting upset, and asked her to stop interrupting me and she told me that my "attitude" was unnecessary and I was being rude and that she needed to put me on hold now. So, because of the review that said they were put on hold and hung up on, I said "no, I do not want to be put on hold I would like confirmation that I am going to get the service i paid for"! And the lady put me on hold and guess what? She hung up on me. So that was that, I called back repeatedly until she answered again. Right off the hop the lady was unapproachable and stuck up, "I've been a business owner for 5 years!!!" she started off with a sassy attitude. So I told her her she was not a very good one, and to expect some negative reviews in the future and hung up on her. So then, I get a call from the marketing company that sold me the voucher! He said that the lady phoned him scared I was going I write a negative review! Oh I jut had to laugh, like come on lady. So the marketing company says they will give me and my coworkers a refund because this situation was unnecessary and that he understands why we wouldn't want to spend our time and money at Taniamedispa. Since the marketing guy was so nice, I was just going to take my refund and forget about the whole situation. But then, TODAY, the exact same lady I spoke to on the phone previously had the AUDASITY to call me again, to "return the voicemail" I had left before the incident occurred. So after I had to remind her of what had happened, because she clearly forgot all about it, she continued on with the same BULLSH*T from before about being a business owner for 5 years and how the google reviews don't matter in the long run and she has nurses as staff all the while continuously speaking over and above me and not letting me get a single word in. Again. And then, she told me I was being rude and that my attitude was unnecisary. AGAIN! Practically word for word. I hung up on her and blocked her number and am now here writing this review. I was told to pay "extra $10" because the dealathons (ncrowd now) never paid them, owing a thousand dollars to them. Highly unprofessional! They don't know how to speak with clients. The vouchers are a scam - they just want the money. They will reschedule appointements themselves and if something happens to the client where they can't make it they will call you and say its not good for our business and that the client is making excuses. Horrible experience. Had an appointment at ten am.The estitican didn't show up until 1030. It was for a half hour facial. It ended up being only 10 minutes, not even! Can this really get any worse? At my massage on Sept 22 we booked the final massage for Fri Jan 18 @ 10:00 AM. That little voice in my head kept telling me "you should call to confirm this". zero out of 5 stars but had to choose one. Booked for a one hour couple hot stone massage. We knew going in that the staff were not RMT but were just looking for a relaxing hour away from it all. Negatives: washroom was not clean (hair and dust), no head rest on one of the massage tables, about a half hour late starting, room was cold (but they do have small space heater they did turn on but it did nothing) and the deal breaker, they had no idea what they were doing! One staff member actually watched the other member and did her best to "copy". (Having no head rest and having to awkwardly hold ones head allows this to be observed.) Both staff have no idea how to hold there bodies away from the client and tend to lean into the client. I understand that burping is a bodily function that happens but in this situation, one should step away from the client or apologize. We were never given the opportunity to turn over. Positives: The massage ended 10 minutes shorter than scheduled (again no head rest allows the clock on your iphone to be seen), it's in a neat old house. The staff is friendly but not educated or skilled enough in this area to offer this service. Don't waist your money! Go to the professionals! No stars but forced to select one: I took my fiance here for a couples hot stone massage...worst experience ever! The "massage room" was FREEZING, the cream applied was ice cold, I left with such a chill! And the girl had the audacity to complain to her friend how cold my feet were during the massage!! WORST MASSAGE EVER!!! This was flat out the most unprofessional place I have ever been too. They showed up 15 minutes late and were completely unprepared. The rooms were divided by curtains and during my massage, someone walked in and out of the "room" a couple of times. The massage was terrible, she shorted me by 20 minutes and then told me she would make up for it if I ever came back! Ya right!! I bought a voucher for this 'spa' and was greatly disappointed. My appointment was for 9am. I was the first client. When I was showed to the room, it was ice-cold. The therapist turned on a very small heater that did not do much to warm up the room. I undressed and got onto the massage table, which was also ice-cold. The sheet were very cold. By the first 10 minutes, I was literally SHIVERING. The therapist offered me another blanket, which I took, but it did not help much. The massage itself was rather useless. She did not apply ANY pressure at all, even after I requested numerous times to do it more deeply. After the massage, I got up and the room was STILL cold. The only place that was warm was just the one foot on front of the tiny heater. My voucher entitled me to go back another 2 times but I am not going to put myself through the torture again. They also charged me GST on the FULL price of the massage. As a business owner I know this is BS. You only remit GST on the amount customers actually paid. Guess whose pocket the 'GST' would end up in? When I asked for a receipt for the GST, I was given a fake receipt that did not have the GST number printed on it. read more

I bought a voucher for 6 one hour massages through DEALFIND for Tania MediSpa. When I called to book, they could not take me until 2 months time. When it came time for my first massage they called to cancel as they were moving. I had to book in another months time. The first time I went for the massage it lasted 40 minutes as they started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early. The second time I went at the appointed time, NOBODY was there accept a carpenter doing renovations. I called to rebook and was given a long sad story by the manager about all her problems and she would call me back when the construction was done. No surprise that she never called back. I called once again to book a massage and the same manager informed me they were not honoring Dealfind coupons anymore. When I protested she gave me ANOTHER long sad story about her expenses and how much trouble she was having. I said I really didn't care about that I just wanted a massage. If I could give this no stars I would. I bought a package from dealfind for a pedicure and manicure with my friend, I booked a month in advance and first of all when she took the reservation (I assume it was the owner) she asked for my mailing address?? I made the reservation for 2 people but never took down my friends name. When we went to the appointment they were late and the door was locked so we had to wait outside for the esthetician to arrive. We waited with another woman so there was three of us but only one esthetician was there at opening. It turns out that there was only one person scheduled until 11am and that the owner never put a single reservation into the book for that day so they had no record of us. The esthetician spent a good portion of the morning trying to call the owner but she never answered her phone, the other woman left in a huff and mentioned this wasn't the first time this happened. By the time the 11am esthetician came in there was another appointment waiting so we had to continue to wait for one person to do 2 manicures and pedicures. Needless to say it was not relaxing and we had to endure the two of them complaining for the rest of our appointment which didn't end util 12:30pm! This was by far the worst experience of my life and I do not recommend this place AT ALL! read more

The first one was okay- although I hate the massage lotion they use-it has eucalyptus in it and in small doses is fine but having a full body massage with it was not enjoyable. It was the middle of winter and I was freezing! The second appt the lady used so much pressure she had me cringing the whole time not relaxing in the least. The third appt by far was the worst another client walked into the room in the middle of my massage, the masseuses phone went off during my massage- which she left to answer, she lifted the sheet right off me so I could roll over exposing me... and slapped the bottoms of my feet- which was odd and jarring when your trying to relax. DO NOT USE TANIA MEDISPA After a couple months of trying I was finally able to reach someone at the Medispa to book an appointment. When I arrived they had over-booked the appointment time by four people! After blaming her staff, Tania asked for volunteers to rebook. This over-booking also happened the first time I went there for an appointment. It is just an excuse. When no one volunteered to rebook she told me that because she had not been paid by the deal company she refused to honour my voucher. Tania told me that I would have to pay full price for the service. Of course I didn't, saying that I had already paid through Dealticker. Again I don't believe this is the truth and is just another excuse. The lack of professionalism here is implorable and I am embarrassed that such an operation continues to run in Calgary. Not only do they have no concept of customer service, respect and the power of word of mouth but the treatments are also lacking with questionable hygiene. I see deals advertised for Tania Medispa constantly on various deal sites. Save yourself the trouble and just don't buy them. I give it a 0/10 read more

Aestheticians don't wear gloves or wash hands before procedures. Was not asked if I was comfortable with someone who had never done a brow tinting to assist. I was not asked if I has a shape in mind for my eyebrows and over waxed more than I would have liked. No proper waxing technique was used and my brows remained red for hours and sore. Had to clean the excess wax off myself. Wax was left on my eyelid as well. The aesthetician touched her shoe then my face during the waxing. Pretty disappointed that proper hygienic practises are not used in a medical spa. read more

I give this company NO STARS I went to Tania Medispa with a Dealfind Voucher and had the worst experience ever. I bought two of the vouchers so my friend and I could go together. 1. The young lady who was put in charge of my pedicure had obviously never done one before. 2. The massage chair I was sat in was broken so you had to lay back in the chair at a very uncomfortable angle and could not sit up. The chair when turned on to the massage setting made a whining grinding noise as though it was stuck which was very unsettling so I turned it off. 3. The spa magazines are from 2011 and 2012 and I went to the spa half way through 2014. 4. The selection of nail polish colors was really small to choose from. 5. All of the products around the room had Dollarama price tags on them. 6. The foot bath water was cold and I had to ask them to add hot water. 7. The pedicurist did not follow standard pedicure procedures. She seemed to struggle with just removing my existing toe nail polish. I watched her struggle with filing my toe nails for 45 minutes. And then she started trying to clip the ends of my toe nails with the cuticle nipper making a jagged edge along the toe nails she had just spent the last 45 minutes filing. She started to paint the toe nail color on before she had cleaned underneath my toe nails, before she had buffed the nail bed and before putting on toe separators or applying a base coat. When asked why she was not doing these things she could not understand what I was asking because she couldn't speak English. It was an hour and a half before she had applied the first coat of color on my toe nails. 8. My friend and I decided that we would rather forfeit the manicures that were supposed to go with the Dealfind Voucher since we were already exasperated with the experience up to that point. When we told the owner of the spa about our experience she started to tell us about all of her experience in all of the top spas in Calgary and told us that not everyone does pedicures the same way. She admitted that the girl who was doing my pedicure was new but said that I must be patient with her as she is just learning. I said with all due respect, I have come here for a luxury treatment and this girl is not yet ready to be released on paying customers. She continued to make excuses and refuse to accept the feedback I was giving her. 9. The owner told me I was rude and asked me if I planned to get my money back for the voucher and I said that Dealfind will definitely be hearing from me about this experience. She said if I wanted my money back she wanted to remove the polish that had already been applied before I left, as if to imply that I was just trying to get a free pedicure. I said I would be happy to remove the polish on my toes in favour of a refund. The owner then sat down and removed my polish shoddily. My friend and I got up to leave and the owner chased after my friend to say that she still owed for taxes and tip for her pedicure. I said that she had a lot of nerve expecting two completely dissatisfied customers who are leaving half way through a treatment to pay anything additionally. She insisted that we owed unless my friend wanted to have her polish removed also. Since my friend's polish was Shellac and would be a much greater process to remove, she decided not to subject herself to the removal process but rather to not ask for a refund for her voucher. And admittedly her pedicure had not been as bad as mine. Realizing that there was just no reasoning with this women who has no concept of customer service I ended up giving her $10 before leaving. I have never had such a bad experience in all of my life and I cannot warn you enough not to go to this spa. They do not know their business or how to treat customers. I just had one of the worst pedicures and manicures possible. I was there for 2 hours and she never did give me a proper manicure. My granddaughter could have given me a better pedicure, polish on my skin and only partial polish on some toes. Manicure consisted on cutting my nails and using the buffer, that was it!!!! We made an appointment for a mani pedi and it was cancelled 30 min before the appointment due to "renovations" when we started asking for our money back a guy showed up out side the door. He was texting the girls inside. He would not step foot in the house, but was contantly staring through the window and keeping an eye on things. I do not recommend getting eyelashes done here as I paid 60 dollars for a full set of broom bristles lashes. Not only are the lashes rough but she only put on like 12 one each eye and they were extremely long, has me looking like I have daddy long leg spider legs on my eyeballs. The thing is that she did not shorten the lashes as it approached the inner corner. She also said that because I have pretty brittle lashes that that's why she couldn't put more one but I don't understand why a) she didn't let me pick a size and b) used shorter lashes that weighed less. Not only did it look bad but she wants to charge 40 dollars for a fill which consists of getting only 10 lashes??? She is charging 4 dollars per lash which probably only costs 10 cents because it's such bad quality. Moral of the story is do not get lashes done here :) spend your coins somewhere that's gonna do a good job and apply to almost all your lashes rather than a couple. But Taína and her team are nice I'll give her that, it's just this company is money hungry and does not care about the satisfaction of the clients. read more

I concur to what other's have said here! The owner Tania is a sweetheart but she has NOT a CLUE how to run a business!! Nor do any of her employees know how to give a massage, to me it would have been more effective to rub my back on the corner of a wall, not to mention that every massage I had (made the mistake of buying 6 treatments with the coupon!) they made me flip over TWO times in less then an hour, what is that about? My last treatment was a pedicure that I had scheduled 2 days proir to my beach vacation, got a call to re-schedule to the day before i left and when I got there, there was another person having a pedi/mani done, so like many others have experienced, I had to wait, yes she got my feet soaking, for a full hour while she was tending to the other person, then when my feet were good and pruned I had my lame pedicure followed by the WORST paint job i have ever seen! Wanted to go home and finish packing but I had to stop and re-paint my toe nails UGH. I see that this spa is offering permanant makeup, well if you don't like it I have my doubts you will be able to go home and use some nail polish remover to remove that bad paint job.... just sayin!! I am not one to bash a business but this was honestly the worst service I have ever seen in my life and I did not even get into how long it took me to get through on the phone to book and the two times that they did not even write my name in the schedule book only to put someone else in that slot! This place is horrible! I bought a 3 deal massage for Tania Medispa through Dealfind. I tried for weeks calling to book my appointments but could never get through. When I finally did the lady on the phone told me I had to book the massages 3 months apart. When my first massage date came up I received a phone call that day informing me that they had not completed a fire inspection and would not be open for at least a week and as a result would have to re-book my massage. I found this interesting as when I initially booked my massage I was informed that cancelations must be made 48 hrs in advance or the massage is void. Apparently the same does not apply to them. I was suppose to have my first deferred massage today. I received a phone call this morning (4hrs before my massage) informing that Dealfind has not paid them the money they are owed so they are no longer honoring the vouchers I purchased. Clearly annoyed I asked her what I should do if Dealfind didn't get back to me. She said it wasn't their fault and there was nothing they could do but if I wanted to spend an ADDITIONAL $10.00 they would do the massage. I refused and hung up. My daughter had a voucher for a 60 minute hot stone massage, she received it at Christmas. She called yesterday March 25 and the coupon expires end of March 26th. Yes she should have called sooner. But when she called she was told they had no openings and too bad for her. So I called and spoke to the owner. Did not get a name. She was rude and did not seem to understand that we paid for a service we were not going to receive. She had trouble understanding I wanted my money back. I also asked if they had no room on March 26 (as they are closed I monday) why she couldn't do it wednesday or Thursday she told me she could, but she didn't like my attitude and hung up. I did laugh at her once, as she was so unbelieveable ignorant about the whole situation. I said this is no way to run a business, she didn't care. I see from reading reviews the filtered ones, that this is common practice for this facility. I would suggest to anyone who has a Groupon voucher get your money back from Groupon and go to a real SPA. The reviews under the filtered section are amazing on how bad this place really is. These people have horrible business practice!!! My mom and I booked an appointment back in November 2011 when we had purchased a deal. They gave us an appointment for March 2012. The evening before the appointment they called and cancelled, stating that they were moving their location. They told us to call back in May to rebook. We called back in May and they gave us an appointment for August 18. Our deal was for a mani, pedi and massage. They advised that we would have to book the massage another time. So on August 18 we arrived 15 minutes early. A lady met us at the front of the store and took us to the back where the pedicures would be done and told us she would be right back and to pick the colors we wanted. About 5 minutes later she came back and asked if we could come back at noon as they had double booked. I told her absolutly not, we have had this appointment booked for quite some time now. She said that she could not do our appointment until noon and that we also will be charged $20 each. I told her we had already purchased our deal and would not be paying any more. She then told us she would not do our pedicures. So all in all she completely wasted our time, never even warned us when booking the appointment that we would be charged an additional $20 EACH and then cancelled on us. Oh and to add on to this they never did move locations. So we we're lied to and given a complete run around. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! read more

Hi, I just read the other review and I had a similar experience. Had the LivingDeal voucher I paid for a while back and they were late for my massage (noone was at the shop) and ended up waiting for someone an hour later to open shop - there were 3 of us booked, and only one therapist who showed up at last. So the other ladies had to wait until after my hour massage (over 2 hours wait for them). The booking for the mani/pedi same issue. Made the trip out and was early and waiting and they had double-booked us - the guy got his massage, but I was asked to return the following day. The owner Tania, claimed it was her receptionist who was ditzy and making wrong bookings. However, she was the one I had talked to on the phone earlier when making the booking. I returned following day, drove out a long distance for this specific appt as she promised she would be the one doing it, and she was opening the shop on Sunday to do the special mani/pedi for me. She was not there, and after leaving many calls on her phone, and waiting for over an hour, noone showed up at her shop and no phone call of apology from her. This woman is a bad business woman. She is disorganized, and her workers don't seem to want to support her. If considerig buying a deal, you're better off avoiding her business, and booking somewhere else, unless you are a glutton for punishment, and don't mind wasting your time running back and forth hoping she will keep to her bookings. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I had purchased two vouchers for a recent promotion for microdermabrasion. I would NOT recommend this place at all!! Before buying, I was told the treatments were about 1/2 hour. I arrived at the shabby and dilapitated old house at my scheduled appt time and waited 15 minutes. Nobody was around. I phoned the number and was told they would be there in 5 minutes. After another 10 minutes, the owner Tania, shows up and proceeds to process the vouchers, at which time she tells me that the treatment is 15 minutes and that it is standard at ANY spa to wait at least 15 minutes, and that I would have to fill out a questionaire for another 10 minutes. I expressed my disappointment in the misinformation about the treatment and how it was now 1/2 after my scheduled appt time and she basically told me that if I wasn't impressed then I should get my money refunded. Thankfully Deal-A Thon rescued me and I was able to get my money back. The owner is extrememly unprofessional and I feel much better that I did not allow them to touch my face. No stars is more appropraite! read more
