For a massage and pedicure I was massaged by an individual by the name Joey, I told him a head of time I wanted to go soft and he went way to hard I feel more pain after & during. I complained to the front desk after I was done and they said they'll do something at the end and mgmt did nothing but apologize and they still insisted I gave a tip I'm like wtf! The lady Rebecca gave me an amazing pedicure, and her leg & knee massage made me feel better, I was happy to tip her she was amazing, she made me forget about my shitty massage. I haven't been back to this spa for over 20 years, I used to stay in the area and would take my girlfriend here for visits. Mainly I have used this Spa for massage visits, though on one occasion my wedding party also did mani/pedi treatment. I have never felt rushed here, before and after the treatments, you are encouraged to take your time and relax before and after treatments. The relaxing area and treatment rooms are dim lit, it is usually quiet, though you will hear clients if they are talking in the hallways during your treatment. My only issue is that Oasis is situated below ground level, so there is no windows outside or views of mountains or forests. Rightly so since you are in the southern end of downtown Calgary. What you will see are Egyptian themed wall decorations and photos. Insurance can be claimed on massages, talk to the staff when booking, some are automatically covered, some are pay first then submit at home. Like I mentioned earlier, my last visit was about 20 years ago, a last minute Christmas gift, massages for my wife, mothe-in-law and myself. Late booking (it was only a few days before) at a busy time of the year resulted in 3 different massages offered to us. Rain Drop, Thai and regular massage. I had the Thai which leads me up to my last problem that has not still been resolved. Men.... Specifically the items they offer men to use during treatments. Robes are big, but if you are "fluffy " sized it's gonna be small. The offered foot wear has never fit me, I have a 10 1/2 EEE foot, and the time I did the Thaj massage the pyjamas offered would not fit. So chat to your booking agent, you may have to bring in clothing items if your treatment requires it. Lastly, parking is paid, Oasis does not validate any parking, and there is a connecting plus 15, so you can park and not have to go outside. (Locals will know what I mean). We went on a Saturday to underground parking was $5 for two hours. We will be visiting Oasis again in 2024. read more

First off this place is a dump! secondly let me point out how there is no spa parking.. that's right, you only choice is to park in the parkade behind the spa and pay... Only 2 hour paid street parking, So you will be paying for parking in addition to your service... Lets start at the beginning.. The guy who booked our treatments over the phone... Fantastic! He said come early and enjoy our amenities and relax, when your done your treatments we have everything you need to fix yourself up for the day. #1, The men's change room was under re no? It had half patch up walls, patched up shower stalls, and there was no shampoo anywhere to be found. The items they had to 'fix' myself up... Aqua Velvet, and Roberto Hair mouse... Honestly, am I 100 years old or in the early 80's? #2 The waiting room, Gross, take a look at all the stained furniture. I ask what high end spa has not heard of a furniture steamer... Filthy! #3 The library... They have old free hotel magazines, 'Where Edmonton", Oct/Nov 2010, Free Calgary Renovation Magazines, Dec2010 and the usual US Weekly and People, all well read from last year. Now my treatments. Men's Facial $108.00 #1 As soon as I crawled in to the cold bed under the duvet the esthetician came in and turned on the bright Magnifying light, pointed it at my face and left it on for over 45 mins. #2 When I was put underneath the steamer she sat in the room for the 15 mins... what was she doing? Staring at me? My friend who had the treatment in another room said her girl massaged her arms while she steamed... Jealous! #3 When she did extractions she did not use pads on my eyes or goggles. Just the brightest light (which was on the whole time) 6 inches from my eyes.. I'm lucky I'm not blind. #4 I had a 5 o'clock shadow, at the start she toned my face but the cotton pad tore up in my facial hair, she never again did any work there, When I had my mask, she only applied it to my forehead, cheeks and nose. #5 The towels she used to remove product from my face where luke warm, and if she wasn't using a towel she was using Kleenex, I have never had my face wiped with a scratchy tissue at a spa When I was done I was sent back to the filthy furniture waiting area, I went to library again in hopes to find something to read... Nope!! Not unless I wanted to relive 2010. Next service Men's Manicure $44 #1 The esthetician was really nice, I went and sat down in an uncomfortable chair, unlike the nice massaging ones in the $20 places all around Calgary have, and had my nails did. #2 She didn't clip them, they were long but she said she liked them that way..so she just filed them unevenly Now I should mention that I usually do them myself because I don't trust that people won't nip my fingers or that the job will be done below average... Ive included photos so you can judge for yourself. I should also mention that I am a hand model. I'm sure my clients would love to see these photos. I can't imagine who thinks this place is not a dump... If you like a dirty spa experience, You have found your place. If I were you, I'd head to Skoah,I know its in a mall and that's weird, but, the beds have heating pads and the facialists give you the whole rub down. Not to mention the spa is super clean... Not worth what you pay for. Used a groupon rate to get a 60 minute massage along with a facial. Asked to have a gentle massage, had to remind the therapist to go lighter, not a very gentle touch at all. Room that I had my facial in was freezing, was advised if needed I could lay my robe on top of the two blankets already on me to warm up. Not what I would have expected considering the $95 groupon rate just for the facial. When paying I was advised I would be charged a gratuity of 10% based on the groupon rate...isn't a gratuity/tip earned? Why does a vendor get to dictate the gratuity being paid?? I will be taking my hard earned dollars next time to a spa/salon that works to earn the tips they receive. There are much better spas out there! read more

Oasis is located in Mount Royal Plaza. If you're not familiar with the area take some time to look around because this area has lots to offer. If you can't find parking on the street, go to the underground London Drugs location and buy a gum. You'll get 2 hours free parking! My friend and I were interested in trying Oasis again because it has recently been pushing hard on Groupon and other social media sites for business. We decided on early morning pedicures and facials. If you allow extra time, the steam sauna is fabulous. If you forget something they'll have you covered. They have a full amenities bathroom that carries a bit of everything including blow dryers and sprays. The pedicure was very relaxing and included polish, salt scrub and cuticle removal. The paraffin dip was extra. By the end of the 3 hours at Oasis, I was jelly. Lunch at Freshii and dessert at Ollies, made it a perfect day! read more

Not only was it my first time at the spa last week, it was also my first experience to get a massage. The staff are pleasant and understanding and personalized experience by giving me a tour of the facilities first. Massage was great not knowing what to compare it to so I was happy. The only thing that bothered me and probably made it worse because I had to focus on and it was the shoes. The flip-flops that they hand you to waddle around the space are awful. They squeak, not just like a cute little duck. No it's like you're constantly stepping on a dog squeaky toy and it always lets out this long exasperated hiss . When you're trying to relax and be in the Zen state and all you can hear is suffocating ducks up and down the hallway its hard getting your zen on, it's very distracting. read more

I will not go back to this spa again. I am surprised that the massage therapist was licensed because he did not seem to know what he was doing. It was a very uneven awkward massage. For the whole massage he was sniffling loudly, cracking his neck. It was the worst experience I have ever had at spa. I was way more stressed than when I went in and very sore the next day. Lovely afternoon with my mother having a facial and pedicure. However the negative comment was this: please do not have your staff provide a facial to your clients if they have a bad cold. With Christmas around the corner and flu season in the air I was quite mortified when my service provider was loudly sniffling and preventing her nose from dripping while providing me the facial. Every few minutes she was coughing into her sleeve (I hope - my eyes were closed). When I asked her if she had a cold she said "it's just cold outside???!" At least wear a mask please. Consistently, I'm greeted with a warm smile and attentiveness by the front desk staff and Ada's (Spa Director) attention to detail is wonderful. Every massage, facial and pedicure I have received in the last few years have been top-notch. It saddens me to read some of the negative reviews. The owner is very honest and professional. I used to go here monthly but the customer service has slowly gone from average to downright rude. I will never be back and would suggest that unless you are a sadist, you should probably avoid Oasis as well. Here are just a few of the reasons why... Friend and I booked their glow package offer ($100 for a pedicure and facial, each service lasting an hour). We asked when booking if it was possible to have the pedicure first so our toes would have extra drying time. We are relaxing in the great room waiting to be picked up. Everyone else's therapists arrive to take them to their service and we wonder, have we messed up the time of our services and arrived early. I go back to the locker room to grab my phone. Finally, our therapists arrive 15 minutes late and usher us off to our facials (ok, we wanted them last, but not a major issue). The facial was nice, but I did not appreciate the high pressure from the therapist to upgrade to a more expensive facial. The facial was nice, but seemed short so I checked my phone and realized that it was only 38 minutes. We were both returned to the great room where we commented that it seemed short but perhaps we misunderstood how long the services were supposed to be as part of this glow package. We waited there for another 15 minutes and then were picked up by the same therapists for our pedicure. The pedicure lasted 32 minutes (I had my phone with me and noted the time) and just felt very rushed. When we went to pay they tried to charge us additional fees, despite the fact that we had purchased the package off the Oasis website and it was prepaid. NOTE - even when I was happy with the service, they are notorious for incorrect billing, you need to really watch to make sure that they don't add on extras. I asked how long each service was supposed to last and was told an hour. When I commented that our experience was disappointing and that I felt that 32 minutes for a pedicure quite a bit different from an hour I was met with a blank stare. The girl then told me that there was nothing she could do. No apology, no offer to take my details and have a manager contact me. I asked to speak to the manager (after all, I come here monthly, wouldn't Oasis want to know that I had a poor experience?) and was told that no one was available. I asked for the manager's card and was given a card with the manager's name, no email address, and no direct phone number. I asked for the owner's and the manager's email address and was told they were on the website. My friend and I went home and sent an email to both of them letting them know that our visit was inconsistent with our previous experiences. We followed up with another email AND a call a week later. We have never heard anything from them. Recently, I tried to book a massage (am running a marathon) and there is a massage therapist that I like there that works on the day after my marathon (AND I have a gift card to use up). I phoned at 7.20pm (10 minutes before they closed) was told they were closed and if I needed an appointment I could call back tomorrow. No thanks, I've decided to give the gift card to a homeless person that really needs a shower. I'm sure that they are used to having rude people talk to them and the Oasis people could use a lesson in treating ALL people respectfully. Overall, I am a reasonable person and I feel that I gave them multiple chances to offer something remotely resembling customer service. If the owner doesn't even care about his business, then he won't care when I take my monthly visit to another Calgary spa. read more

*THE FRISKY MISHAP AND BIRTHDAY BLUNDER* My experience at Oasis was memorable... but not in a good way. I decided to spoil myself for my birthday and get a 90 minute massage (something I really needed). So I call to get an appointment and the receptionist is less then enthusiastic to help me, or give me any details to finding the place. She just kept repeating the address... like that's helpful? I googled and within seconds figured out the best route on getting there. Anywho, I arrive 15 minutes on time (as required via phone) to fill out health forms. Some of the questions are a bit too personal.. nobody needs to know when I got it on with some guy...you get the picture. So I get escorted 30 minutes late to my appointment into a dingy hallway room where they sit me down in a small room with a semi-comfy couch to wait another 5 minutes.... an employee walks by and ask if she can help me. "Umm, sure I want my 90 minute massage..." I felt like saying that, however I don't like comfrontation. So she shows me where I get changed in some locker/ shower area that's more like a wash room with dirty showers, the ladies putting their street clothes on ready to leave didn't seem impressed with their pedicures or facials... that should have been my first instinct to run away- and fast! So I get escorted by some dude to my room (finally), and he doesn't introduce himself just say's get undressed, put the blanket over yourself and I'll be back. To me that sounds naughty... right? SO he returns to do the massage. Now don't judge me I have nothing against guys giving massages, but the only man I feel comfortable with touching my buttocks is my boyfriend. Oasis should have prepared me by asking if I was Okay with a male rubbing me down. The whole experience was uncomfortable, he wasn't gentle and kept yapping away about spa products. He even went as far to say "You have really dry skin... perhaps you need more moisturizer." Ugh... thanks for making me more self conscious... All I could stress about was "Should have waxed my legs". I left feeling sore, embarrassed, uncomfortable and undecided on crying or not. It was a HORRIBLE BIRTHDAY PRESENT TO ME!!!!! When I went up to the reception to pay for my services she asked if I liked it or not... when I shook my head no, she then said "Well I'll bring out your Massaues and you can tell him!" Me Mudder-in-Law was in town and it was her BIRTDAY, so I brought her for a massage. While she got massaged, I decided to get a pedicure. I cannot remember the name of the pedi lady, but my god was she aggressive. She was very curt and didn't smile, and basically lectured me on my feet. Fine, I have Donkey Kong feet, but jesus christ I don't want a lecture about not getting pedicures more often. She also told me I shouldn't have shaved my legs. Oh, my bad. Usually when I know someone's going to be touching my legs, I SHAVE THEM. Call me OLD FASHIONED. There was definitely some up selling as well, but it just wasn't enjoyable for me. I saw some other ladies getting their feet done next to me and they seemed relaxed and happy because their Nazi Lady wasn't giving them the gears. Sigh. All in all, this spa is very expensive for what it offers. I've also had massages here which weren't bad, but overall this isn't my favourite spa in the city. Spa's aren't just for women! If you're a dude looking for a great spa experience, I highly recommend Oasis. Really relaxing place, with a cool Egyptian theme going on. The guys change room has showers, a wet sauna, and a dry sauna. These might as well be private saunas as you almost never see another guy while you use them. The main service I have used is the massage. I have always enjoyed the massages and have tried a lot of different people. I will keep my favorites a secret as its hard enough booking them now! You really can't go wrong though, everyone there is top notch. I've had the peticure as well (it comes in the couples package!), and while it's not something I would want all the time but it was pretty cool and relaxing. Oasis also has various deals on their website or at the counter which really help keep the price down. The massages are definitely more expensive than you will get at a chiropractor/clinic situation, but its definitely worth the extra money. read more

The Egyptian decor is exquisite and lends itself to the feeling of luxury. I had a Hot Stone Massage and the masseuse (who I will leave unnamed - so I can still book with him and not have to fight with all of you to get in!!! ) is by far one of the best ones I have ever experienced. I got two Pause (facial and massage) packages for hubby and I based on a friend's recommendation. We did have to pay an extra $10 each to get a shared room for the massage. The masseuse (Lilian and Shelniel) were excellent. When the discussion moved to random topics they were quick to bring it back to relaxation and relaxing thoughts. The facials were also great. Good products, steam, extraction and a solid classic facial. I was not all red afterwards. My hubby fell for the upgrades but whatever, he loved everything and never spends any money on his skin so an extra $60 was fine. It was an anniversary treat after all. I loved how big and clean the facilities were. The teas in the relaxing area were a nice touch. We will definitely go back. Check out their website under specials. I love this day spa! My first ever so I might be a newbie but it was worth the 150 + tip that I splurge on my 90 min massage with Lola. The message felt like it would never end!!! Definitely the way to spoil pamper yourself and get away from reality. I was there about two hours before my appointment and was greeted with friendly smiles and tour of the facility. You can use the spa and steam room to relax and mentally prepare yourself before your massage. The environment is calming and very clean! The supply you with most toiletries( shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, lotion, hair dryer, curling iron etc!) I'm looking forward to come back for another R&R and hopefully enjoy the next one with my honey in a couples massage. Everyone deserves a little pampering once in a while. read more

I truly enjoy myself every time I go to Oasis. I usually just get the 60 min therapeutic massage (because it's luckily covered by my benefits). I've been going here for about 2 years for 3-4 massages a year. Customer service on the phone can certainly be improved as those that have answered don't seem to be too interested in either their job or helping you out. But nonetheless when I get there the steam room is one of the hottest I've been in and usually I go when it's not busy. They have good amenities although I like to bring my own products. Most of the therapists are good but some are just too light and I get shy to ask for more pressure. Whatevs, don't like to complain too much considering its Calgary. One of the best spa's I've been to is Qua in Las Vegas and i don't suppose anything in YYC can compare. Unless you have suggestions on a better place, for now, Oasis is my number one and I got the passport this year so all massages are $98! read more

I've been to this spa twice now. Both times had a few annoyances, but overall I still like it and would recommend it to anyone. The first time, I made an appointment, and asked the woman on the phone if there's anything I should know/do before coming, she said no, just some paperwork. I didn't know until afterwards they have a steam room you can use. When I arrived, and filled out my paperwork, the lady at the counter asked if I had been there before, I hadn't. She took me back to the change room, told me I could change there, and to go to the lounge when I was ready, and walked away. Where was the lounge? I'd never been there before, and didn't know where anything was, I also didn't know there was water and tea available for guests. Once I was actually in for my massage, it was amazing! We had an absolutely horrible experience - we will never be back. Not only did they mix up the booking and ruin a surprise gift but sending the confirmation to the giftee instead of who booked it, they were also EXTREMELY unorganized and the spa was horrible managed. Upon arrival we did our usual check-in, the girl we were dealing with left and another came and made us restart the process as she somehow confused us for another couple with completely different names. Then the steam we booked was double booked and others were in there so we could not use. THEN while we were waiting multiple staff were coming in and out, grabbing the wrong people and then bringing them back, telling people their services could not longer happen as they were double booked, and many other issues. This happened 4-6 times within 20 minutes. WE also waited over 30 minutes LATE for our massage and then had a shorter massage and NO compensation was offered. The entire experience was NOT relaxing. I am not sure what has changed, this used to be the best spot in Calgary for massages, but it has seriously gone down hill. I would rather drive to the mountains and pay double the price to go ANYWHERE but here again. read more

I've been to Oasis Spa twice now and both times I've had a positive overall experience - I'm surprised it's got middling reviews on here. The spa itself is in a building undergoing a ton of construction right now, but once you get inside the atmosphere is suitably relaxing and intimate, with an Egyptian theme carried throughout. Both times I was greeted pleasantly and offered a tour. The changing rooms could use a little updating as they're kind of locker room-feeling, but they do have a number of amenities, including digital lockers, a steam room, changerooms, and some essentials at the bathroom and haircare stations. You also get a robe and slippers to change into, regardless of what treatment you're having. These may sound like relatively basic amenities, but I've been to other spas that offer none of them, so for that, I'm grateful. While waiting for your treatment, there are a few different waiting areas (some of which seem to be reserved here and there for bridal parties or other gatherings). All of the waiting areas have plenty of comfortable seating, dim lighting, and that same Egyptian theme. There's also a water and tea bar for you to hydrate before and after your treatment. Both times I went to Oasis, I went for a massage. My second visit was a direct result of my first one - I had the same masseuse both times, Janina, and would strongly recommend her. My husband (we were there for couples massages) had two different therapists but advised in both instances they were some of the best massages of his life. In short, Oasis isn't cutting corners by hiring poor massage therapists - I would go back again simply for the therapist. The massage experience itself was relatively basic; there weren't too many bells and whistles re: heated blankets or choosing your oil scent or scented pillows or anything of that nature. In that sense, it can be a little pricy for what you get. But if the real point is to have a good massage, I definitely had that. Oasis, overall, has offered me two great massage experiences. The facial was wonderful and I am still glowing from it, and the pedicure was one of the best I have ever had, my feet are as smooth as a babys bottom. If it's possible to give negative score here, I would! I had the worst customer service in this spa. In this review, I am giving pure facts and complete relevant details. If you are the owner of this spa, I don't need any complimentary service whatsoever. I am here to (1) give my review so others can be forewarned (2) make the owner aware if in case this issue did not get brought up to their attention. Here it goes: My husband made an appointment for massage for the two of us at 2pm today (April 10, 2015). We both showed up at the spa at 1:45pm. Because it was my first time in their facility (2nd time for my husband), I was given a form to fill out and a tour of the facility. Everything's still fine at this point. Changed to my robe and proceeded to the waiting area and met my husband there. My husband was picked up by his massage therapist. I was left alone...waiting...waiting...and waiting. At 2:14pm I proceeded to the reception desk and asked what time is my appt based on their records. They said 2pm. And also said that sometimes there's a lag of 15 mins from the last appt and assured me that my therapist would come pick me up soon. I went back to the waiting area. And waited. Waited. Waited. At 2:32pm I went back to the reception desk and asked where my therapist is. This was the only time they realized their mistake. What specifically went wrong - not sure. Then they offered me a complimentary pedicure. To which I said yes (in my mind, I already wasted hours of my day might as well get something to cheer me up). They said the esthetician will pick me up in 5-10 mins. So I waited AGAIN. 20 mins have gone by, no esthetician. I then decided to just change and just wait outside for my husband. After my husband's massage was finished, he found out what happened and confronted the reception desk. They again were offering me complimentary service - but after they have screwed up even the "complimentary pedicure service" they offered, I didn't think they deserve to be given a 3rd chance and let them waste my time again. Never again. A while ago, my mom and I decided to treat ourselves to pedicures here. The waiting room is quite nice. Our pedicurists came to get us, and everything started out alright. That is, until my pedicurist started lecturing me about how big my feet were (I have size 11 feet, I get it. My feet are big, no need to insult me!) and how I had fungus on my big toe. I actually went to my doctor a couple weeks after and he confirmed that I did not have fungus like this woman claimed. She kept trying to sell me some oils and also lectured me for shaving my legs the day before. She said "I much prefer when women don't shave their legs, the lotion goes on easier". Ok that's your preference, but I like to have my legs shaved. At one point, I was almost in tears because of how rude she was. When I have pedicures I want to relax, not be insulted. My mom was much luckier, her lady wasn't trying to sell her products or insulting her in any way. When we went up to the cash to pay, my pedicurist had left a bunch of oils and lotions for me. The receptionist started ringing in these items before I could tell her I did not want them. She rolled her eyes when I told her I was not buying the oils and lotions. So, if you want to get treated like crap by the pedicurist and have the receptionist be rude to you after your mediocre experience, then this is the place for you. Otherwise go to Stillwater or Lakeside, much better experiences there! read more

This is a nice spa and the girls that work in the back are awesome. My problem is with the girls at the front desk and booking appointments. At certain times of the day Oasis has specials on facials, massage etc. When I booked my appointment for a facial, I booked within the special time and I was just talking about the specials with the receptionist. So when I booked my appointment, in person, I believed I was being booked for the special priced facial. When I went to pay for my facial I was told that I owe $113.40. I asked why it wasn't the special price, and it's because I didn't specifically say that I wanted the special facial, even though I was just talking about it with the receptionist. Dirty dealings! Oasis has just lost a custom because of that. It's too bad because the estheticians are awesome. read more

Okay...so I do like Oasis. I've been there a few times and I did enjoy my massages, however after being able to visit some really beautiful spas outside of the city, i'm finding it a lot harder to compare. I do believe its one of the better one's locally, but i'm now destined to find a game changer. Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying goodbye to Oasis Spa forever, but I would be interested in visiting something with a little more amenities. read more

Beautiful place, they make you feel like you are someone important. My husband got me a gift certificate for my Birthday. I have been twice, one for a 60 min and then again for a 30 min massage. Both times were great. A bit more pricier, but if you want to spoil yourself, its worth it. read more

My favourite place on Calgary to get waxing and eyebrows threading. Kiran is a fantastic aesthetician, with wonderful care and beautiful energy. Having the opportunity to enjoy sauna or steam room before treatments, I love that! Pedicures and manicures are really well done, and you have the opportunity to soak your hands and feet on scented paraffin to get a wonderful sensation after treatment! The environment at the spa it is great, putting your robe on and have a cup of tea waiting for your appointments, I believe it could be a great alternative to put a side for a moment your daily routine and have the experience! read more

I have had 4 massages in the past 3 months. I have been searching for a spa since I moved to Calgary, as a self proclaimed "diva" i have had a hard time finding the right atmosphere. I am very impressed with oasis and especially Curt the Registered Massage Therapist. We have lots of laughs and he is amazing at what he does!!! All in all am excellent experience. First time here today and this place is awesome. Really cool ambiance, awesome location (easy to grab a menchies afterwards :P). Really impressed with the knowledgeable staff and experienced aestheticians. I would definitely recommend Liga for any waxing needs, especially for any ladies looking for some southern grooming.
