Cute hole in the wall spot known for lottery winners! The bacon egg and cheese was perfectly done, exactly what I was craving. A bit high for the $10 price point, but it is Hollywood. The croissant was very flaky but filled with chocolate donut glaze - not bad but definitely not the same experience. The regular coffee is not great. For $17 total it hit some cravings, but still felt overpriced. The cashier was prompt and professional. read more

If I could give a negative stars I would! I waited 15 mins for a Bagel Egg & Cheese, mind you, I'd preferred a croissant but they were all out. They were practically out of everything... donut shop wit no donuts at 10am. Not only was there only one employee who's attitude could be much more pleasant- but she's the only one, I get it. Anyway, after waiting 15 mins, when my food was finally ready I asked for a refill of coffee. "We don't do refills here," with a sucking of the teeth. That was her response. Needless to say, I won't be returning. Refills on coffee, really... during my 15min wait I watched you make a fresh pot that probably costed you less than my ONE CUP. We went hiking at the nearby Batman Cave and wanted a sweet treat afterwards. I picked out a strawberry danish style pastry and it was very good and wasn't too sweet which I enjoyed. They also sell Lottery tickets and I bought our office group pool tickets here. We are still in this C19 pandemic and they have a funny system on getting your money and returning it on a small go cart back and forth system. read more

Tangs Donuts is one of the best spots in Los Angeles. Stopped here not long ago to eat some donuts and bagels. They have a variety of different flavored donuts. They offer more than just donuts tho. Orange juice and coffee is good here. Owners and customer service is great. Its in a nice area too. I will be back. read more

This place use to be good, but over the years has become worse. the lady running the shop is tired and does not care anymore. She needs to hire help. I have been coming here for years, like 10 or more and lately the burritos are burnt, don't have all the ingredients and takes 20 + minutes to come out. Who has that kind of time in the morning. The donuts are mediocre, There are better donuts shops just up the street. Today was the last straw, waited for 7 min before she even came to the front, then she took my order, paid for the order, she went to the back. Then 10 min later she came up front to help another customer. Then she went back and never came back up front, waited way to long for a simple burrito. I left even though I paid, went to the Oaks and got a better burrito much quicker. I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO TANGS AGAIN! read more

I have been really good lately in not eating too many donuts. Don't know why but donuts and ice cream seem to be my favorite desserts. I was in the area and trying to decide on where to eat for breakfast and it was a toss up between finding a place to get pancakes or have a breakfast burrito. I thought the breakfast burrito would be the healthier option since it had some protein so and I was near Tang's Donuts shop so this is where I headed. They actually are known for serving a variety of sandwiches and they have them posted on the wall with pictures of each item. They have a "combo" where you can get a particular sandwich and a donut on the side. I saw the breakfast burrito and donut combo was $5.50 so I vied for that since it's what I originally came in for. Although, a lot of the other sandwiches were tantalizing as well. Placed my order and proceeded to pick out my donut but there were very slim pickins at this point since they apparently had a mad rush earlier in the morning of people grabbing donuts to take to work for Halloween. The case was empty except for one danish and a bunch of donut holes. Well, I got stuck with 6 donut holes as my side. The breakfast burrito was decent. It came with ham, bacon, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese. They also served a small tub of salsa. It wasn't a huge burrito by any means which made me think that paying $4.50 for this somewhat skinny burrito really wasn't a good value as I can get a larger burrito elsewhere for about the same price. I enjoyed eating it though as the bacon was crispy and the flavors all blended well together. I just wish there were a little bit more of it. It's alright though, it was close and convenient. Another competitor actually had a similarly priced combo with a bagel sandwich but it included coffee too where here, you had to pay extra for it. Still, not a bad place to get sandwiches or donuts. The owner is friendly as are the wait staff so I'll probably be back again. read more

First time here. See it often as I drive down Franklin (next to Gelsons) so stopped in today for coffee and donut. They have sandwiches and other snacks/drinks but I was up for coffee and donut. Both good. Inexpensive, too. Lady was nice. I stayed here about 30 min to read and eat. Lot of regular customers came in, joked around, bought food and lottery tickets. A lot of lottery tix! Ok I'm buying a lottery ticket on way out. Obviously they can't sell more winners than any other venue but the folks who scratched off here DID win some $ profit. I'm in! read more

Ridiculously long wait time 20 minute I spent in there with only 1 guy before me. My egg bacon and cheese sandwich was very tasty BUT my order was messed up! The first donut I order to go along with my entree was the glazed maple bar which is NOT IN THE BOX!! Also I was supposed to get 7 of the donut holes and I counted 6! She messed up my order, made me wait ridiculously long, and was not very polite in the beginning when taking my order-however she was nicer when ringing me up at check out. 2 stars instead of 1 because the breakfast bagel sandwich was that good and I was hungry. read more

Been coming here for the past few months after moving into my apartment close by, I guess the donut shop is ran by one lady who you can very easily tell is tired all the time and clearly needs to hire some help--one of my main gripes with this place is that for a donut shop there doesn't seem to be that many donuts sometimes none at all, I've gone in the mornings to try and get a donut and coffee but on most occasions I've gone the donut selection was either very lacking or there were none at all...the other thing that's a bit annoying is that they have a selection of sandwiches you can get which are actually pretty good however going off of how I mentioned there's only one lady who works here she makes the sandwiches and takes her sweet time, I usually get a tuna sandwich with the usual toppings (lettuce tomato onion) nothing too complicated but she'll usually take about 10-15 minutes to make one sandwich, if I went to a sub shop I'd be in and out of there in 5 minutes even if I had them put lots of toppings on my sandwich. Long story short this place is alright it's nothing special, if you wanna go to a donut shop that actually has donuts and where you won't have to wait weird amounts of time for food go elsewhere. read more

They have a great assortment of soft drinks and coffee, salty snack foods, donuts, croissants, and pastries, and I love their breakfast sandwiches, especially the bacon egg and cheese croissant. TDS is not an anagram for a precocious genital wart but they are the initials of a certain well loved donutterie in the Franklin corridor otherwise known as "lower Mayfair." Truth be told, I am not a donut expert or donut Nut but do nut pretend to be more than someone who observes in the wings. Having said that much, there is nothing extraordinary about the sticky, fatty, rings of dough at TDS. What they make here is no crime, for sure, but why do neighborhood denizens flock there in a daily pilgrimage? The answer is a socio-economic one. For one, TDS offers the pocket change low price point of many donutteries. It's a quick sugary fix for under a dollar. For another, it's a social salt lick for the working class that is as unpretentious and unthreatening as the red plastic sandwich baskets here at Tang's. They have fuzzy television playing and a California Lottery station in the corner in case you're jonesing for the scratchers. It's high cal in a low cul environment. It's what keeps the Franklin bourgeoisie in check with all their wheat grass shootin, doggie biscotti eatin bee-yotches. But donuts are never enough. I shall digress even further. Some places aspire to donuts and Chinese food which is really so very Americanesque not in the propagandist "melting pot" goo lore but more like conjoined twins that share a single waistline. Freakish at first glance but it can work. Here at TDS they make a gesture to work within the white power structure and offer all American sandwiches which seem like something an Asian immigrant mother might make for her son's school lunch. Yes I find the it mildly inspirational to see TDS as a champion for another capitalist success story but beyond that quaint fable, it is what it is. This place is really amazing. I am not that fan of donuts. But today i wanted to try have a breakfast here because i had a little tome before work. So to tell the truth egg turkey cheese croissant was wonderful. I am sure i haven't had such a good breakfast for a long time. I usually make them at home. I discovered this place when a friend came into town and we were on our way to the OTHER coffee/sandwich shop on Bronson. Luckily for us that place was closed so we stumbled upon Tang's. Tang's Donuts & Sandwiches is the kind of place that would seem at home on some street off Sepulveda in Van Nuys. It's nondescript, unpretentious, and the laminated menu displayed in the window shows poorly lit photos of each food item. But for that reason, it really is a find in Franklin Village. I agree with most of the other positive reviews on here - the breakfast sandwiches are great (I got the bacon, egg, and cheese on a buttery and flaky croissant), the coffee is so-so, but the price in Hollywood can't be beat. Service is also no nonsense but not off putting. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat in the morning before running errands, or having a meeting, look no further than Tang's. read more

The shop was a ghost town when I entered and I stood by counter for at least 10 minutes without having a single soul -- employee or customer -- appear. Average/generic quality donuts, tried several varieties, little difference from Winchels or Dunkin donuts but better than a grocery store at least. The staff were wery nice and happy to assist. I agree more with the review that said "Sometimes Bonnie is totally nice, sometimes barely cordial. It's a crap shoot". But I do like going to this store to buy lottery tix or donuts. The fanciest strip mall yet for a donut shop, unfortunately the donuts did not match that of the exterior - they were mediocre in taste & in presentation. We sampled the Apple Fritter and the Old Fashioned Maple. The Apple Fritter was far superior than the Old Fashioned, and if our rating was solely based on it, we would give Tang's a 4.0, BUT the Old Fashioned Maple took our rating down a big notch because it was not fresh, the Maple flavor was not Maple and we were left with a strange aftertaste in our mouth. The Apple Fritter, however, was crispy in all the right places, had apples evenly distributed, and was what we would hope for in an Apple Fritter - above average in our books. With all that said, we would recommend this donut shop ONLY if you and your family is on their way to the Bat Cave and just wanted to pick up a couple of donuts for the fam on the way up to Adam West's old hang out. It seems like a nice leisurely thing to do, BUT if you consider yourself a donut connoisseur by any means, this is not your place, even if you like an Apple Fritter, there are better donut shops out there, with better Apple Fritters. "A-OK" is pretty much the definition of Tang's. Everything's just about what you'd expect. Here's how it goes.... You walk in and someone greets you about 2 minutes later. Before you know it you've only spent $2.85 and you're eating 2 average donuts and sipping an average coffee. You feel pretty average after your stop in and you walk out into average LA weather. Overall, if you're looking for something that is the definition of average, stop by Tang's. You won't regret it, but it won't change your life. read more
