My friend and I went to Chado Tea House to simply celebrate life and catch up after watching Bridgerton S4. We're so lucky that they have a special Bridgerton theme set which was perfect. I got the Benedict Blosson Tea and My friend Got Sophie's early (name probably not correct but that's what i remembered). I was in awe on their selection of teas. Our set came with a fruit cup, bubly n/a berry sparkling drink, our teas (which was brewed properly) then our food tower. The server gave us a fan in the middle of our set and a cute mug as part of the package. We super enjoyed the experience. The only thing to note is that we thought they serve alcohol like champagne/ prosecco but the server informed us that the staff does not hold lisence but the store does. A little bit of bubbly alcohol won't hurt. Will definitley come back . Fyi: Parking is validated for 2 hours. We went a week before Oscars some roads are closed. read more

I haven't been to this place for the past 7 years. I've been to other locations. This place is very special to me since this was the first place my daughter and I had our afternoon tea in LA. Since I'm taking my friends daughters first afternoon tea experience, I thought of this location. We came in last Wednesday, Feb 11 and booked for 1045am. I called in ahead of time to ask if they have gifts to include on this reservation, she said yes. I asked to leave it by the table so it would be a nice surprise for the birthday celebrant who was 9 yrs old. We came in and eye excited for her and there was no gift box on the table anywhere we looked. I asked the lady and she said "you're 15mins late and I thought maybe you went to another location and since you're 15mins late it's good as cancelled." I couldn't believe it. She assumed everything and didn't even bother to give us a a courtesy call. She was rude and her personality doesn't belong to this business Good selection was okay but that whole attitude of hers totally ruined our experience. A friend and I came here for afternoon tea recently and we adored our experience! The shop is so cute -- I love the teas lining the walls and the subtle nods to Alice in Wonderland. We actually had the place to ourselves since it was 11am on a Thursday, which was lovely, but I do hope the shop gets busier sometimes since they deserve to! It's tucked away inside Ovation so perhaps people just don't realize it's there. I liked that there are a variety of tea services to choose from, and everything is individually done, so your party can enjoy different high tea experiences if they choose to. My friend and I both selected the classic tea, which included a scone, four sandwiches, and a variety of desserts, plus a pot of tea. I chose the Birthday Tea, which was floral and delicious, and presented in the most adorable elephant-shaped teapot! There was so much food we couldn't finish it all. I especially liked the smoked salmon and the egg salad, the chicken salad was a bit too dry. The scone was tasty and the cream was delish. I would give this place a couple more stars if it weren't for the receptionist with the red hair and glasses. Normally, places like this should know how to explain the menu, but we were left figuring things out on our own and we felt like a bother asking this server for help. There was a point where I can see her sighing deeply and rolling her eyes. Annabel was the highlight of our stay at Chado Tea Room. She was way more engaging, respectful, and eager to ensure that we are well taken care of. The sandwiches and tea were delicious and the overall ambiance is relaxing and very Disney-esque. The deserts were a total miss since I feel like they're store bought. Hundreds of teas to choose from! Cute space and best part is that you can order a pot of tea to drink with some food for a legitimate afternoon tea session! I'd make a reservation ahead of time just because it can be busy at times. I ordered the Celebration Afternoon Tea and it comes with a good amount of food: soup/salad, scones, sandwiches, and sweets! This place is all about the tea and the tea selection is phenomenal. And who knew there was a tea called St. Marc and that it was super delicious?! I shall be getting some of that soon. We wound up doing the afternoon tea service and it was delightful. Comfy atmosphere, great service and some of the best teas we've all had. The food is good, but I did have some issues with the sandwiches. We all really loved the scones and jams and the other sweets, and while the sandwiches all tasted fine, it was way too much white bread and not enough filling. I usually don't eat white bread anyway, but if I am going to, I need a lot more in between the sheets, as it were. That's really my only gripe. The food was surprisingly filling, and the Mauritius tea with the warm scones ended up being our favorite part of the whole set. It was our first visit, and Sam was the one who helped us. Beautiful interior highlighting their vast tea selections and tea pot collections. We opted for the chado afternoon tea service with lavender earl grey and lychee green tea - both delicious and the green tea served in a glass pot garnish with beautiful florals. We added the tomato basil soups because of the high remarks and it was tasty but the side of untoasted thin white bread left me wanting more. As for the sandwiches I think a better thicker bread could give them more substance. The sandwiches are the same thin white bread making for a very thin sandwich. My favorite as for flavor was the punjab egg salad. The scones were good but very dense, I started getting full on those and decided to move onto eating the sandwiches before I completely maxed out. This was my second time visiting a Chado Tea Room, but my first time at the Hollywood location! I booked a reservation weeks in advance, and luckily, it wasn't too busy because it was just our luck that our reservation landed on a rainy day. The customer service was great; just like how my first visit was at the Pasadena location. The staff were so attentive and accommodated to our dietary needs. My friend and I enjoyed a good tea time. We got the Chado Afternoon Tea Service, and to be honest, the food wasn't like the most special thing in the world, but it paired well with the teas that we chose - Butterscotch and Earl Grey Imperial. The Butterscotch was deep and sweet while the Earl Grey Imperial was light and floral. My favorite food items in the Chado Afternoon Tea Service were the scones with strawberries & cream and the Punjab sandwich. Also, the ambiance, china, cutlery, and decor of the place really elevated the whole experience. In my opinion, Chado Tea Rooms are on the more affordable end for tea rooms around LA, so I'll definitely return for another special occasion! read more

Wife and I are self-proclaimed tea snobs, and this place offered an opportunity to take a break from a weekend at Universal. It's located in a mall right on Hollywood BLVD, so it's definitely an interesting area to walk around and take in some sights. The location itself is okay. It was unfortunately too cold to sit outside on an early February day, so we settled for the inside seating. Both inside and outside are slightly limited. Even if you have a reservation, you might want to budget the possibility that your seating preference might be unavailable. The teaware is pretty and fun, see the elephant tea pots with fun charms that help keep your tea warm. As for the service, it definitely felt just little busy for the two employees to keep up - although they did their best. We ended up just doing a couple pots of tea. The Gyokoru Green Tea and Milk Oolong. It's not uncommon to find places that incorrectly steep green teas in particular, but this place gets high marks there. For those of you thinking "what's this crazy person on about" - If you steep teas for too long or at in incorrect temp, they taste bitter. I got the vibe that she was a bit offended when I asked, but I've been hurt before and it it took a while for the pot to come out after we ordered. That was definitely a recurring theme (things taking a while to come out) but it was pretty jumping and they acknowledged it so no worries. Tea's not really something you need to chug if ya'll doing it right. Milk oolong was nice as well but I was really impressed with the green. Of course, this is a tea room, so the next question dear readers may be, "what about the foods"? "Where's your pics of the requisite multi-level tray with various sandwiches, scones, etc., Mr. Tea Snob". To that I would say "Mr. Tea Snob was my father - just call me TS. J/K, my dad is in no way a "Tea Snob". Anyway, we didn't want to do the whole production but just opted to try a scone with their Chado cream. Unfortunately, this part didn't work out very well. The first problem was that the menu suggests they have an "Orange Apricot" scone. Turns out the menu is just not formatted well, and they instead offer a Cranberry Orange scone (that didn't end up tasting very orange-y. The cream tasted more like whipped cream than clotted cream - which she suggested it would taste like. We ended up asking her if we could send it back and take it off the bill, which she did. So bottom line, if you're looking for well steeped and high quality tea, as well as fun tea pots and china, this is your place. If you're looking for amazing foods and super-quick service, maybe not so much. read more

The scones were really dry and hard, I only ate half of it. The sandwiches and desserts all tasted like they were bought from a grocery store, dry and tasteless. We didn't even finished the food we ordered and nobody took the food to go, so you can tell how bad they tasted. The food here is ready disappointing. There are several of these around Los Ángeles. I've been to this one and a location near Little Tokyo in Los Ángeles. This location has about 10-15 tables so reservations are recommended especially for peak times. The hostess certainly was friendly somewhat accommodating once we had a reservation in their system. The food is geared to relaxed snacking on some sandwiches and deserts with great teas of many possible varieties. My only suggestions is avoid decaffeinated teas as they just don't seem as special as the others. I wouldn't expect a full formal tea but the ingredients are good. This location is at the Ovation Mall near The Japan House and is a nice stop after a visit there. As mentioned before, the seating is a bit limited so we sat outside which on a cool winter day was nice and not much mall related foot traffic. CHADO TEA ROOM is probably one of the places that still offers full service afternoon tea at an affordable rate ($35/person) ... and still have fantastic teas! The eats aren't out of this world but it was super fun to eat here with the kids, their grandma, and other family. I was full afterwards, but I think I was the only one who finished my portion. Nobody else finished theirs and they still got full. Parking is very convenient at the Hollywood and Highland underground parking complex. I was very shocked because the person in charge would not honor our $40 discount from OpenTable even though the $40 discount that I had earned from dining at a multitude of OpenTable restaurants listed online that I could use the $40 discount there! This person refused to honor the $40 OpenTable discount!!! I ended up having to pay a lot of money for a birthday afternoon tea! Even worse is that, since I didn't use the $40 discount there, OpenTable has not let me use the $40 discount at another restaurant! I cannot seem to talk to a live person only AI ChatBots! I am getting really frustrated! This is horrible customer service on their part! Also, there was a very large group of women that were what they call "Educated Nannies" near us that were all talking extremely loudly! This was both disrespectful and very annoying! I thought afternoon tea was supposed to be relaxing and quiet. Honestly, this group should have had a private event especially because of how very loud and rude they were! The person in charge of this large group of women and two girls was amazingly extremely loud!!! The server apologized for them afterwards and seemed very stressed out by this group. My sister even commented that the bread on the tea sandwiches was very dry. I think that if my OpenTable $40 discount which was very legitimate on my cellphone was not honored then I don't recommend this Hollywood Chado Tea Room at all! I was extremely disappointed! Also, if OpenTable refuses to reimburse my $40 discount for another OpenTable restaurant, then I definitely will not use OpenTable anymore! I also will never go to the Hollywood Chado Tea Room again! Not honoring a $40 OpenTable credit that is very obvious on their website on my laptop and then transferred to my cellphone with the actual OpenTable $40 discount that they could have easily honored is baffling to me!!! This place never disappoints. Perfect place for my Grandmother and I. We hadn't been around each other since COVID and this was the perfect place. It was nice and quiet and wasn't crowded. The scones were soft fresh and so good. I chose the apricot and my Grandmother had the cranberry. I had the spinach cranberry salad without the chicken. The lychee green tea was beautiful and it literally bloomed it the Teapot! It was so beautiful. The tea didn't need any sugar and honey it was perfectly sweetned. I am very disappointed with this Hollywood location that we were so excited to visit for Mother's Day. Short staffed, and I felt bad for the 1 and only server the location had on a very busy Mother's Day. We waited 30 minutes before we were asked if we wanted anything to drink. We had three guests: myself, my mother, and my 8 year old daughter. We got 3 different teas and 1- 3 tiere between the three of us a senior citizen, adult and and 8 year old and 1 soup and 1 salad, my daughter passed on either soup or salad, and not to mention we did not even receive our refreshers. My daughter asked for orange juice and when we asked the server she rolled her eyes at us. The orange juice was horrible and tasyed old it made my daughter's stomach upset, so paying $180 dollars the first items we didn't receive as everyone else did on the standard mother's day menu the whole service took 2 hours not once did the server come and check on us and ending with me having to go and wait at the counter asking to pay. Then, I'm waiting another 10 minutes for a to go box. I am very very disappointed with the amount I paid for with the service and food we received. So sad such a big disappointment.
