I came in asking for a basic brown balayage with lighter pieces and made it very clear that I do not like red tones in my hair. I even showed a reference photo. I ended up with noticeable HOT PINK highlights, which was completely unexpected and not what I asked for at all. There was no conversation or confirmation that any kind of pink tone would be added to my hair. I gave the salon a chance to fix it and came back, spending over 8 hours across 2 days trying to correct it. Unfortunately, the end result still has red undertones and now looks muddy, not like a balayage. What made the situation worse was the way it was handled. The owner was dismissive and blamed the result on a very slight color filter on my phone, saying I "should have known" I was getting pink. Even if a photo looked slightly warm, that does not justify adding hot pink tones without clearly communicating that to a client first. The owner honestly seemed annoyed that I was there and barely finished drying my hair. When I expressed that I was still unhappy after spending $300 on something that wasn't what I asked for, I was told I would have had to pay that amount regardless, and the conversation was essentially shut down. I also tried calling afterward to resolve things and never received a response. I understand that miscommunications can happen, which is why I gave them the opportunity to fix it. But the lack of accountability, poor communication, and unprofessional attitude made this a really frustrating experience. I literally cried for hours straight after coming home with pink hair, and then to be told it was my fault and to not be offered a discount/ partial refund is CRAZY. Plus she was pleasant and on the quiet side, which to me means she's paying attention to what she's doing! Lauren was honest with me from the get-go about what she did and didn't feel comfortable doing in terms of maintaining the integrity of my hair (we skipped bleaching the ends for that reason), which I really appreciated. From the moment she started painting to the toner and blowout/styling, it was clear that she *really* cares about her work, as well as the client's satisfaction. I utilized a few laser package specials and had AMAZING results, once with Renata and another time with Jessica. My skin had the normal several day sensitivity and rapid cell turnover with glowing skin coming through among other great results like scar reduction, reduction in fine lines and pore size. Unfortunately this was not my experience with the new laser machine that was used on me in February. Why have I waited so long to post a review? It takes time for laser to really show full results. I can say however that I initially had zero pain during treatment (like the laser wasn't effective) even though the practitioner stated that I was on the "highest setting". Do I like pain? No. Does it signify that Micro injuries are being created to initiate collagen production? Yes. Additionally I had zero skin turnover and no new laser glow like I'd had in the past. I tried to keep the faith and wait it out to see if I would have results but I unfortunately did not and I feel duped, kinda like they pulled a bate and switch by using a new laser on me without letting me know ahead of time. I want to also mention that I got the Triple Stack Laser, the strongest laser combo offered and as I said, the practitioner stated that I was on the highest setting. I'm glad I bought it at a promotional price rather than the full $500 dollar price. I do have experience with laser and Morpheus8 at other providers in addition to the treatments I've received at AE. The results in this case spoke for themselves. This new machine they use is ineffective and a very unfortunate waste of money as I chose AE over receiving Pico laser at a provider closer to my home because I had good experiences in the past. I'm happy to be closer to laser season so I can take advantage of a more reliable provider.
