I came to Candela shortly after moving out of the city to North Andover... and am SO grateful I did! it was hard to leave the colorist I'd been seeing years but I just couldn't justify the long commute into Boston and back anymore. Fortunately, Lauren put me right at ease straight away -- it was clear from the time of our consultation that she was dedicated to making sure I'm super happy with my hair. And she definitely delivered! We talked at length about all my different options for achieving the high-dimension, low-maintenance blonde I wanted... including balayage, foils, root tap/shadow/melt, money piece, etc. and finally settled on a plan that would match the ook I was going for without damaging my hair too much. Lauren was honest with me from the get-go about what she did and didn't feel comfortable doing in terms of maintaining the integrity of my hair (we skipped bleaching the ends for that reason), which I really appreciated. From the moment she started painting to the toner and blowout/styling, it was clear that she *really* cares about her work, as well as the client's satisfaction. And I truly don't think the tone of my blonde has ever looked better! Not to mention, Lauren's sweet, friendly, accommodating presence makes for a really pleasant experience all around. Especially if you're looking for a "lived in blonde" that grows out softly and beautifully, I highly recommend her! 10/10 read more

I don't think I could find a better salon even if I tried. I have been to Candela twice now and I'm in love. Yesterday I had a full balyage and cut by Tiffany and my hair is absolutely gorgeous. She did a fantastic job and I am looking forward to going back. I guarantee they will make your hair look perfect. I was in the salon for 4 hours (I have a lot of hair) and not one did I feel rushed (I have been to other salons who get annoyed at how long it takes to do my hair and I feel like they are just trying to get it over with). Tiffany was incredibly sweet and personable. She does amazing work and is fun to talk to. I seriously couldn't be happier with my hair. Leaving the salon I felt confident and pretty. The salon itself was very clean and cozy with a relaxing atmosphere. They offered me drinks multiple times and brought me water, which shows that they really care about their clients and want to give you a good experience. I am brand new to the area. I found this Saloon here on YELP. I had my first consultation today with Jenny. She asked me awesome questions and really listened! This was just a consultation. During the conversation she could see how badly I was in need of a color as my grey hair was coming through. So instead of sending me home and having me wait until my appointment she actually carved out time to do my roots so that I didn't leave the way I came in. During a discussion I mentioned how course my hair felt so she added a hydrating mask to my hair. OMG I feel amazing!!! I rebooked with her that day and can't wait to get the full treatment! I love coming to Candela hair studio to get my balayage done! When I initially wanted to change up my hair and pursue a blonde balayage I did loads of research to find the best person to help me achieve the look I was going for. Jenny's work instantly caught my eye and I knew that I wouldn't be able to find anyone else who was as skilled in this technique! I went to Jenny for the first time and I can't wait to be back! My hair was in desperate need of some TLC - I have been so embarrassed (brassy-orange ends) that I was putting it up in a ponytail or messy bun everyday. Prior to my appointment with Jenny, I met with her for a hair consultation so she could see what she was going to work with and I could show her my hair inspiration. It was difficult trying to make a hair appointment that worked for both me and her due to my work schedule, but she found a way to make it work... Thank God. The whole session took about five hours, but it honestly did not feel long at all. Jenny was very knowledgeable and you could tell that she is good at what she does. She was super nice and very easy to talk to, I felt like I was talking to a friend that I haven't seen in forever. I got balayage here (first time dying my hair) and it came out okay but was a little to warm/almost orange for my liking. I went back to get my balayage lightened a little because it was a too warm for my liking. Tiffany proceeded to give me what she thought I wanted even after I showed her a picture. My hair turned out with greyish/blue streaks as she was trying to attempted a more ashy look. I told her I didn't like the way it turned out at all so she brought me back to the sink and tried to counter act it. I was left with my head in the sink for 30 min while they attended to others. My hair is now multiple shades of orange/brassy, bleach blond, greyish blue, and my natural brown at the roots. I have never felt so heart broken leaving a hair appointment. read more

I was very disappointed after I got my hair colored here. I wanted to get a balayage to lighten the ends of my hair, but somehow left with highlights all the way to my root. I wish that was it, but it sadly wasn't. She kept the back of my hair in the foil too long, so now the back pieces of my hair are fully bleached and a totally different color from the rest of my hair. The owner wasn't very sympathetic which I talked with her. I definitely won't be going back. read more

A good friend recommended Jenny to me and it is easily the happiest I've ever been with my hair. I am a natural red head and want to be ashy blonde, and it's hard to get someone who actually works to correct and keep your hair healthy while giving you what you want, and who gives you the actual cut you want. If you go to her Instagram you will see the work she does and that's really how it comes out every time. My hair is very healthy which isn't always the case with a platinum blonde. This is the happiest I've ever been with my hair and she does an incredible job every single time. The first time I got highlights with her she personally felt my hair had dried out more than she wanted, gave me way too much of a discount and she insisted I come in again free of charge. Meanwhile it was the best my hair has ever looked. She really stands by her work so she'll make sure it's what you want every time. I was looking for a new hair salon near work and I found Candela on Yelp. I went for a consultation to discuss what I needed and then scheduled an appointment about a month later. It was hard to find an opening this time of year but Jenny was flexible and able to fit me in. Jenny is a master at what she does and I haven't been this happy with my highlights in a LONG time! The highlights are so finely done and blended that it looks completely natural. I also love the color - I'm used to either too yellow or too brightly bleached, but Jenny put a perfect icy blonde on that I love. She also trimmed my hair without reducing the overall length and gave me some great tips for growing it out. She did everything I wanted and more, I will definitely be going back to her! read more

I highly recommend Candela Hair Studio! Lauren did my color and it came out beautiful!! I've had many hair stylists in the past do my blond and mess it up- either too gold, brassy, or they don't match up the root. I had been going to a different salon in Andover that charges an extra $55 for a blow dry, after any color service and was sick of getting ripped off (aside:their $55 blowouts were seriously not even good)...so I decided to take a chance on this salon and so glad I did! The color is beautiful, blowout great and still lasting a day later. Oh and Lauren also did a bang trim for me as well as eyebrow wax- and they both are looking great. She took her time with everything (not rushed like some other stylists) - including making sure she matched up my color, before she began. I think you won't regret going here! read more

This review will seem a bit biased (because it is) but the short of it is: Jenny is awesome! She has been cutting my hair for several years and I have followed her wherever she has been (I met her when I first lived in North Andover and come up from Charlestown, MA whenever my flow needs attention). She is kind, listens to what you're looking for, offers suggestions and has a keen eye for detail. Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe it's just how she is, but I can text her and ask "Hey Jenny- do you by chance have any openings this weekend?" Often times she's booked (cause she's that good) but if she has any openings she'll let me know (actually she will even squeeze me in if she can. Maybe it's my good looks? My charm?) Anyways, if you're a guy and looking to get your haircut I would highly suggest seeing her. (Truth be told I actually referred my dad who had been going to the same barber, getting the same $12 haircut for ~25+ years. When he got home from seeing Jenny my mom said "he looks so handsome!"). I had an amazing experience getting my hair colored FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER with Jenny. Since I had never dyed my hair before I was pretty nervous but Jenny put me at ease very quickly. She was quick, professional and friendly throughout the whole process. I also was really happy I did my homework beforehand and emailed her about what I wanted and included a picture of my current hair and also an "inspiration picture" of what I was thinking of going for because we were able to start right away when I arrived for my appointment. I ended up getting a full bayalage and a trim and both turned out perfect. I got exactly the look I was going for and everyone so far (including me) is obsessed!
