After traveling into the city for years to get my hair cut, I realized I just didn't want to do it anymore. With a little one my weekend time is precious and my prior stylist only works Sundays. Some friends/family of mine had been going to Hair Cuts Etc, and while it's not that close to my house, it is very convenient to my work. I've now seen Charity for my past three cuts and have been very happy with all of them. She knows what she's doing and she's always educating herself on new things. Prices are more than reasonable, she's always been on time/schedule and I walk out with my hair looking perfect. While I'm in a "boring" hair stage in my life I do know that the salon does a lot of fun coloring and styles. It's a place you could walk into asking for pink highlights and come out with really good ones. Maybe someday that's what I'll do. :) read more

Hair Cuts Etc. is a tremendous salon filled with talented people who are A LOT of fun and care about delivering a quality haircut, coloring, or whatever you're there for. Charity (owner & Master Stylist) has been cutting my (now thinning unfortunately) hair for over 20 years. I lived in Minnesota for a year and was totally LOST without her meticulous attention to detail and hilarious demeanor for my bi-monthly haircut. I do have some "suggestions" for improvement, despite my 5 Star rating: 1) is a Sports Illustrated subscription really too tough a putt? A bridge too far? C'mon I can't read a 1997 edition of Vogue magazine ever again. CAN NOT. 2) Thankfully for us guys, Hair Cuts Etc. goes the extra mile and uses talc at the end of your haircut to deal with the hair sticking to your neck, etc. But NEVER enough talc. NEVER. On behalf of guys everywhere, at least a pint glass of talc should be used to wrap our haircut up. Just sayin... 3) If #1/#2 aren't addressed, we'll get into the rest, but those are the "big" issues. But in summary, if you want a fabulous, symmetrical, consistent, haircut EVERY-TIME, go see Tammy & Charity at Hair Cuts Etc. The place is great, I guar. My hair is very thin and fine so getting a satisfactory cut is not easy. I have been going to Charity since moving back to South Lawrence four years ago and my friend Lana referred me to this place! Best ever! The salon is clean and open and fun. Charity's mom makes seasonal decorations brightening up the place, there are large basket gifts to buy chances on periodically, just a happening place. BUT the best part is my hair always looks gorgeous when I walk out. I feel like a new person. Last week we changed my hairstyle from old to short and sassy and I LOVE it. To start off, once you get your hair styled here, every other hairstyle you have had in the past will look mediocre in comparison. I am by no means exaggerating. I was not only surprised by the outcome of my haircut, but by how friendly the environment is. In hair styling establishments it is far too common to have catty workers, but the staff is kind and knowledgeable. I've never had full trust in people with my hair until coming here. I drive an hour each way up to Lawrence to get my hair done at Haircuts Etc - if that doesn't tell you how good these ladies are, I don't know what will. Getting your hair done can be such a nerve wracking experience if you don't trust the stylist. For me though, it's a blast, because I know my hair is going to look great when Tammy is finished. The cut and color look great and Tammy makes sure I'm completely happy before I leave her hair. The other stylists are great too. I love how they give each other suggestions and share their different areas of expertise so every client walks out looking their best! read more

I've been to three higher-end salons in the North Andover area to get a one-length straight-cut bob for my very thick hair, and, believe me, it is VERY DIFFICULT to find stylist who can do this haircut right. The stylists at the "other salons" would either cut my hair unevenly, take two hours because they can't figure out how to cut my mass of hair, or throw in the towel and give me a totally different hair cut, which I did not want. So, when I went to Hair Cuts, Etc., to have Charity, the shop owner (who, BTW, is not the woman pictured), cut my hair, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly, professionally, and PERFECTLY she cut my hair into a one-length straight-cut bob! She took the time to condition my hair, put in nice hair product, and straighten my hair with a flat iron. My hair cut was very straight. My bangs, which can be challenging to cut because they are thick and wavy, was cut into a beautiful shape and at just the right length. Plus, Charity was FAST. I was in and out of the salon at a very reasonable time. (Feel confident that you can get your hair cut during lunch hour.) It's really funny that one of the best hair stylists that I've tried in the area is in such a nondescript location (at a strip mall between the Lawrence commuter rail station and Salvatore's Restaurant), and more reasonably priced than the expensive salons. (I paid $35 for services that would have cost me $40 to $55 at other salons.) But I'm glad I found this place. This salon (and Charity, especially) is a gem. I'll be back. :-) read more

I have been coming to Haircuts Etc. for several years now. I have always had Charity (the owner)as my stylist. Loved her since my first haircut! When I take her pictures to follow she absolutely does what I ask. But she will also tell me if my hair "won't do" what I am asking for. When I had my hair cut, colored and highlighted this week I told Charity to do what she wanted and what she thought would look best. Well I must say it is fabulous! I have had no less than 20 compliments in 2 days! :). She's the best whether you tell how you would like it or if you give her free choice. (I guess I will be letting her chose for me from now on. LOL) The shop prices are so reasonable that I have no hesitation in getting a short cut that will need frequent trims to keep it looking awesome. read more

I will tell everyone something. I lived in Lawrence for 46 years. I never ever found a place that would do my hair the way I wanted. For some reason hairdressers are full of advice to what you would look good in. I found this place and asked the Lady can you please just do it the way I want. She said sure no problem. I almost cried as my hair came out so wonderful and EXACTLY what I wanted. I was there in December 2015. I had to move to Las Vegas and since I haven't found a place that would style it the way I want. I recommend anyone still in the area to go to these ladies. The are so great. Right off 495. I am not sure if you ladies remember me. I was the one that went in looking one way and came out looking incredible. I had the short cut with blonde highlights. I just want to say thank you.
