I recently visited the salon for a holiday event with Santa Claus. I mentioned to the front desk that I was interested in scheduling an appointment. I was greeted by the friendly owner and she handed me a business card. I recently came in for a haircut and style. Kara was the first friendly staff member to greet me and offered me a beverage. I enjoyed a cup of chamomile tea with honey. I then met for my appointment with Emilee. From the start, she listened to my concerns and offered advice and recommendations. She was very attentive and gave outstanding customer service. She gave me the best haircut I've had in a long time. I even left with a few products. Thanks to everyone at Split Enz! There where three hairdressers on duty and was told my hairdresser was on lunch break but would be back any minute. So I waited. About 15 min later a young woman came in of about high school age and was introduced to me as my hairdresser. It wasn't long before I realized she was in the beginning of her training. She was very unsure of herself but I wanted to help. About two hours later the head dresser jumped in and finished me off. I was definitely tired of this ordeal. My hair was still wet so I asked to be dried. She told me they usually charge $$ for drying but as a guinea pig they wouldn't charge me. The bill was still about $45 but I must admit I asked for a wax as well. They had 3 idle hairdressers in house but had this novice work on me. In my opinion they should have ASKED me to do this. I started looking into BAS because I saw a poor review on Facebook where a gal was chastizing them for the way they cut their sons hair and I was like there is more to this story, so I contacted them via email to find out what services they offer and pricing, within a few hours I had an appointment booked for everything I needed that afternoon. When I arrivied at the salon it was a cute little place that was clean and everyone seemed to be happy. They even have a little boutique in the front that has apparel, beauty supplies and more! BAS was very welcoming and extremely inclusive regardless as to who you are they welcome you with open arms. So back to my initial visit, I met with Michelle and we discussed what I was looking for and a little history about my past hair cuts. She proceeded to give me a fantastic hair cut, trimmed my unruly beard then went on to get some waxing done and I must say it was one of the best salon experiences I have has since moving to Virginia 3 years ago. (Prior to moving to the east coast I had been going to the same salon for over 10 years - im sure you know how hard it is to find a place that will take care of you like you are used too) The pricing for standard services seemed the norm to me from past salons visits in Virginia, the pricing for waxing is a bit high, however, Im a firm beleiver that you pay for what you get and am willing to spend a bit more for quality services. On a side note, if your modest about waxing certain areas, they make you feel extremely comfortable and at times you end up forgetting that you are getting waxed - until they pull the wax strip off then your like oh yea, its not all dandilions and rainbows, but its quick and well worth it for the end result. From the first time I went into BAS, to the most recent time (yesterday) I feel like I am part of the BAS family and always feel so welcomed - even on days that I dont really feel like "peopling" they always seem to get me out of that feeling and end up chatting the the appointment away. My wife has had multiple hair appointments for K-tip extensions. At first they started out great,…read morebut as time went on and after a few appointments they became worse and worse, making her lose more of her natural hair each time. It first started with the extensions being placed to high above the ear constantly pulling her hair. Then leading to the keratin placement and amount used. They're supposed to blend in not stick out like a sore thumb. She used almost a full inch for each extension placed, with this and the amount of hair used for each extension it looked tacky and rushed. With this last round of extensions they were placed too heavily and used too much keratin to hold them. As they began falling out they were taking a LOT of her natural hair with them. This hair used to go down to under her bra line and now it barely reaches her shoulders. She took the rest of them out today and couldn't believe her eyes. I come home to her crying and hating what has happened to her hair due to the amount lost and terrible inserts of the extensions. This type of service should stay the same throughout the appointments, and customers who continuously come back should not have to deal with their hair being ruined as a result of a lack of care and hurriedness to get the appointment done. We will not be returning as this has been a downhill ride from the start. Ruining someone's hair as a result of sloppy and lazy work is terrible when hair is one of the key features that people identify themselves with. And when you tarnish that it's time to go somewhere else. As far as service goes there are no immediate complaints. The workers were pleasant and friendly.

I came 5 minutes earlier and both girls were busy with other customers. They greeted me without any other questions and I decided to wait. I was waiting for 15 more minutes and it was clear that they would not finish with their customers soon. It really looked like they even did not know that people made appointment on line and like they did not care as well. I also realized that it would not be so fast (20 min) as it was stated. There were two men waiting without any appointments ( I asked them). Next time will try another place.
