I would not recommend getting your hair cut here. I didnt get what I asked for instead I was shocked, upset, and dumbfounded. I asked for a cut and how much I wanted off the stylist took my ponytail and cut it off. Then continued to talk about how she couldn't wait to get off work and she wanted sushi. 300$ was spent on my hair for it to be not what I asked and for the experience in general to suck. Never will I go back. I wont even buy make up & hair products there. If they think its okay to hire someone like that to do peoples hair I dont want to support a business that thinks thats okay. I dont recommend it to anyone who has asked me. I would give zero stars. read more

I have been going to this place for 3 plus years. It is excellent. The stylists are great and they do not overcharge. They know their job they take their time and not in a hurry to go for out for anything not even to eat and I know for a fact that my stylist does not go out and eat sushi. Usually I am able to find what I'm looking for when needed. My dissatisfaction lies with the checkout personnel. I recently made an online/store pickup order. After I picked up and opened my purchase I felt that one of the items was not something that I was going to be able to use. I went to the Newport News Ulta to return the item. (the item was an Anastasia Brow Pencil) When I made it to the cashier she told me she needed the M# for my order to be able tonpriceed. I did not have the requested M# nor did I have access to my email via my cell phone. She looked at my "history",and it was not showing but it did not appear on my account. She told me she could not refund me or put the money back onto my credit card account. She told me that it might not have been enough time to post ti my card account. She suggested I give it a day or two and come back to try again. I went back four days later to try once more. The lady that was summoned to the checkout area was initially rude, never looking at me to acknowledge my presence only continuing her conversation with her co-worker. When I started to tell her why I always there she still never looked at me and very unkindly asked fir my phone#. I gave her the info and, in the same unkind demeanor said my history did not show that I purchased the item, almost "accusing" me of shoplifting the item and telling me she could NOT refund me. I then, not so nicely, talk the item from her and stormed out of the store. I did make a small scene which is not my usual demeanor and I'm not proud that I did it then. I am quite offended to have been treated this way and to feel that someone was insinuating that I was trying to get money/credit for something I had not paid for. This incident has made me choose not to return to your store. I have been a very loyal customer for over 20 years and have made probably thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. I am not a thief and will NOT be treated in this manner! read more

I am honestly never one to complain and feel awful writing this post... but here it goes. The salon is terrible. Long story short, my husband and I planned a last minute elopement/micro wedding. We could not have a makeup artist or hair at the venue. We decided to come to ulta because of the availability and the ease in having both done at one place, on top of the fact that we only scheduled this wedding 2 weeks in advance. We were scheduled for 2 formal makeup applications and 2 hair styling appointments. I have hardly any complaints with my makeup aside from the fact that I asked for a gold Smokey eye and instead got gold and pink. However, my sister (orange pjs) had her eyebrows filled entirely too dark and too thick. We sent pictures to friends and everyone thought it was a silly Snapchat filter. Her eyeshadow was also entirely too dark and an unflattering shade of orange (she did not request this). She wiped her entire face of makeup off before the ceremony. We both had hair styling appointments also scheduled. I was informed when scheduling that only straightening and curling could be done. I came in only expecting this. I feel like my sister's (orange pjs) styling" looks like she just rolled out of bed. My hair is a completely different story. I understand I have curly hair but my roots were not even properly straightened and essentially teased to a horrendous height. The waves were falling before I even left the store. My friends also commented on this and said it look like I went through a wind tunnel after having my hair done. I had to go home straighten and recurl hair, as well as complete a half updo. This put us behind schedule for pictures and vows I regret not mentioning all of this when I was there. However, with multiple requests for the stylist to fix my hair. We were running out of time and quickly left the store. I honestly regret paying for it and it was the most stressful part about my big day. I am hoping with this review to save anybody in the future, for any type of formal event, to avoid this catastrophe. read more

Scheduled a last minute hair appointment with Cathy on a Friday morning and I was extremely pleased! My hair is long (down to the middle of my back) and I'm finicky about the way it's layered, but it turned out exactly how I wanted. She went above and beyond my expectations and I even left the store getting compliments from other patrons about how pretty my hair looked. Although I was nervous about making an impromptu appointment - I couldn't be more satisfied with how it turned out. read more

Shelah has done my hair half a dozen times and I have always been extremely pleased! My 10 year old son has also had his hair cut by Shelah and she was great with him as well. I highly recommend that you request her personally when booking your next appointment! read more

I went here for a haircut and was very impressed. I have always been a Clipper cut kind of person, but I figured I'd give the salon a shot. The prices were reasonable, but the quality was top notch. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Erika runs a tight ship in the salon. They have official converted me from the basic clipper cut. I will be returning once a month for sure. read more

Downgrading this to a ONE after I sent an email to the gethelp@ulta.com (see their response) email giving more details of the experience. Ulta's response? Canned auto-response emails asking me to wait first, then give them even more contact info so they can get "more details" when they did not respond at all to the email I sent that had quite a lot of detail. Wow, just wow. I now feel like they wasted my time AGAIN. read more

I was most excited to see a brow bar in Ulta. Ruthanne does a great job. My problem is I have walked in three times and no one is in the store but they say they are completely booked with brow appointments. Ruthann has taken me as long as she is not working on someone else (which I have never seen) Could there be that many people in Gloucester that book 30 minute brow appt? read more

Went in for lavender highlight on my gray and came out with red and orange streaks. Inexperienced colorist. So disappointed that I would not dream of sitting in that chair for her to attempt to correct it. Clearly she missed that training class read more
