Honestly, I'm 78 years old, new to the area was just looking for a good old fashion men's haircut. The most I paid for a haircut like this in Newport News was $15. After getting my hair and beard done here for a coupe years, I will never return to this place. To put it simply, the barber don't maintain the basic standard of keeping thier equipment sanitized. The barber didn't clean the clippers, sissors, or combs between customers. She had a towel on her counter that she used to wipe her hands but never cleaned or changed the towel. A little too, the location is tucked back in a small shopping strip behind the black and white cleaners business at the corner. As a military family when we move from base to base, we are always having to start over. We always have to find new optometrist, dentists, hair salons, and barber shops. It's take a good year to get all you need. Then you move again hahaha. We tried a place close to where we live in Poquoson and after 3-4 times it just was not cutting it. She lacked attention to detail. My son always has side burn hair, neck hair ect. I'm sure is will be a hair beast. So I searched military spouse Facebook pages and Yelp for a barber shop. Wolves in Wool was mentioned a couple of times. So I headed to their Yelp page and checked out reviews. I went to their website and booked an appointment. I loved being able to make an appointment. I chose and appointment with Sharon. I saw a few times she pays attention to detail. I know my son is 8 but, he takes pride in his hair and bathing in general. Fingers crossed he keeps up with it. The smelly teen phase would be great if it skipped out house. So I sit here watching everything being done. Sharon is doing amazing! Every time my son is turned around in the chair she has the biggest grin under his mask. It's like he knows she is hitting all his check boxes. She trimmed him up so well on the sides and on the back of his neck. I prefer the same treatment for my 8 year old as if he was a paying adult. The interior decor and products were great. I loved the above and beyond decor and theme of old beard and barbershop. I think we found our place and our stylist!!! Beyond happy! read more

Wolves In Wool was an all around fabulous experience! Nora did a great job trimming and shaping my beard. She was cheerful, patient, understanding, and professional. Nora took her time and was gentle. Nora made sure I understood each step of her process. Wolves in wool barber shop (its way more than a shop) was well decorated with lots of cool tchotskes, hair products, beard products, and pictures. The shop is very clean and organized, with plenty of lighting, and good classic rock music playing. Wools in wolves is very affordable and easy to make an appointment on line. Highly recommend for men and children. They are well prepared for any COVID concerns. Overall a wonderful experience! read more

Complete 180. Very easily scheduled an appointment for my husband to get his hair cut. Previously when it was not a great experience the owner had reached out and honestly that means so much. It shows that someone takes pride in their business and cares. They suggested several workers who had been there a long time. I believe I booked my husbands appointment with Sharon. He had a good experience and it looks AWESOME! His hair is cut even all the way around. No extra hair left on his neck, and the top was styled over. Thank you! First time here and very impressed! Staff pays attention to the needs of the customers and insures that they are happy with their haircuts. Cleaned and sanitized between clients and staff is masked. Melody is very talented and offers great advice while listening to her clients at the same time to make sure they get the best results possible. I purchased a gift card for my husband. I wanted to do something different for Christmas. He made his appointment with Erica and it was not a good experience. He wanted a straight shave on his head and face. He had several nicks and cuts to his face and a decent sized cut to his head. Even missing patches of hair too. He said she seemed unsure of what she was doing. Maybe she is new and needs more experience, but he won't be coming back to her. He may try one of the other ladies because the other reviews are so high for this place. Please please have Erica practice her technique before she really hurts someone. read more

My son usually went to Great Clips and when they were busy I was lucky enough to find this place. My husband and I were in awe, it was an actual barber shop! This shop has a great atmosphere and beard oils, but all 3 times I've been the wait has been over an hour with only 1 barber working. The owner has been there but just working the front desk or offering you a drink( don't you cut hair as well?) . You have 3 barber Chairs! Get some more barbers working before you loose more customers. I managed to get my hair cut today and she did a good job but there were 7 people in line waiting on a haircut so I decided to not get my beard trimmed up and keep everyone else waiting. I trusted this place to give me a haircut and straight razor shave on my wedding day back in July and I'm so happy I did! The haircut was perfect. It was so nice to know that in all of our wedding pictures, my hair at least looked sharp and stylish. The guys took time to listen what I wanted (even if I didn't do a good job explaining), took their time, and gave me one of my best haircuts I've ever gotten. Kayla cut my hair and did a fantastic job! I haven't been so pleased with a haircut in a long time. She constantly asked my preference on length and style of cut and really ensured I was going to get what I wanted. While there, the owner arrived and offered myself and another gentlemen waiting a beer, soda, or a water. Where else can you get a cut and enjoy a beer while you wait? The atmosphere needs to be mentioned also. The decor was very interesting as it related to the Yorktown area and including many other interesting pieces everywhere you turned. Classic rock was playing in the background also. Wolves in Wool has won my business for the foreseeable future. Prices are reasonable and include discounted pricing for military and first responders.
