I recently went to Palm Beach Tan to purchase a one-month membership and some lotion so I could get…read morea basic tan before our wedding in April. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and felt very misleading. The products were advertised as 50% off, but that discount only applied if you bundled and bought multiple items. When you actually do the math, it comes out to essentially the same price as buying a single product at regular cost. That should be clearly explained upfront and not advertised as 50% off all products. I was also told the monthly membership and products would be $89 total. After agreeing to the $89, I inserted my card. Before tanning, I checked my bank account and saw I was charged $109. When I asked why it jumped from $89 to $109, I was told it was "tax." That would be roughly a 22% tax, which is clearly inaccurate. There was no transparent breakdown shown before charging my card. Today is March 4, so I assumed (as anyone would) that a monthly membership would run until April 4. Instead, I was told it would only last until April 1, which makes no sense for a "monthly" membership. When I requested a refund, the two employees at the desk told me they couldn't process one because their manager was in a meeting. When I asked them to call her, suddenly she was available. One employee went into the back to speak to her, then came back out and tried to upsell me to an even higher premier membership with what I just paid instead of simply refunding my money. The lack of transparency, inconsistent information, and pushy sales tactics were extremely frustrating. I would highly recommend asking for a full price breakdown, confirming exact membership dates, and requesting a receipt before swiping your card. I truly hope I receive my refund.

However... Judging from the reviews on Google and my experience, it seems that some of the staff is not as well informed as others. This was my first time in a bed and it wasn't until I got home and started reading up on bed tanning tips that I realized how poor my guidance was from the girl working at that time. I wasn't shown anything about the bed, even though I told her a few times this was my first time tanning and I was clueless (which is partly true, it's just been a REALLY long time). Plus, I'm fair skinned and she put me in for 13 minutes starting out (I read later I should have started at 6 minutes to 10 minutes MAX). So, I got a bit of a burn. :( However, this staff IS NICE (just uninformative). She was patient with me and did answer any questions I had, but I guess I just didn't ask enough questions. Maybe I should have researched beforehand, but I was under the impression that the staff was supposed to be helpful - especially if the person is new. It is convenient for me, so I will likely return now with my own knowledge gathered via google search. If it seems to improve, I will update my review accordingly.

I have been the twiggy girl, the skinny chick, but I've never been a strong woman. I didn't want some trainer who was going to cause me to get hurt again or turn me into someone I wasn't. Rich coached me through challenges that I never would have thought of. His program has helped address issues that I didn't realize were holding me back like hip mobility, ankle instability and wrist weakness. My health has improved dramatically in unexpected ways. My job is highly stressful, which the lifting helped me find my zen place... I know it sounds weird to me too, but it's true! I've cut back on my heart medication. Most importantly I'm working out consistently. Lastly - I have learned to love my body. A lot of people might have the goal to lose weight... I wanted muscle and strength. I see muscle definition that has never shown up with other programs. My confidence has improved and the amount of self love that's growing in me is priceless!
