I went for athletic gear with my best friend and her 2-year old daughter. We decided on entering Puma. They had great sales, a clean and well stocked store, so we were both hopeful for a great experience. That couldn't be further from what occurred. The associates did not greet us, were rude/not helpful/cheerful and didn't recommend any additional sales, styles or discounts etc. They acted as if we were a bother to them. How they treated us gave my friend anxiety because she felt judged having taken her daughter with her who was exhausted and crying at the time. Because of this experience she bought nothing. When I brought my selections/purchases to the register they barely spoke to me. As we left both my friend and I heard the associates say, "They were a bit much." I turned and said, "Well then don't work in sales/customer service." It's a shame because I have been in sales; I know how difficult customers can be sometimes. We didn't trash the store or be rude. I don't understand why we were treated as such. It's a shame too because I want to return but will most likely not because of how we were treated. Good variety of stores but could use some high end brands in the Deer Park Tanger, i.e. no Michael Kors, no Ralph Lauren. Lots of parking, BUT it can be difficult to find spaces, especially on weekends. AAA membership gets you coupon books when you visit. There's a reason this brand is doing bad. The clothes are so expensive and crap quality but above that their customer service experience is the worst at this store. I ordered online and didn't receive that order so they sent me a new one. THe jacket didn't end up fitting my husband so we thought we can return it and the employees at the store aren't even competent to make this simple transaction. I've been living in Deer Park for almost 3 years now, and Tanger outlets has definitely become one of my preferred shopping spots. The outlets have good prices and on select weekends you can get many of the stores offering 50-70% off everything in the store (and that's on already discounted outlet prices). Good variety among the stores, my favorites tend to be: Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Express, Nine West (for the wifey). But also: Coach, Nike, Adidas, BCBG, Guess, etc. Not quite as extensive as the outlets in Riverhead or Woodbury Commons, but it's a solid selection. Theres even a movie theater if you want to catch a flick. And during the winter season they decorate and have an ice skating rink. Always plenty of parking if you know where to look (back lot) and a variety of food choices for a snack or lunch/dinner. There's also a shuttle to the Deer Park LIRR station, which is great for those coming in from NYC. Overall a great place for good deals on brand name merchandise. read more

Not always a win but I find this outlet to be much more peaceful than the others, probably due to the Italian/Venetian wannabe decor. Also, coming from queens exit 53 is much more manageable than exit 72 for riverhead. Try not to come during the big holidays, I find that their regular sales are just as good minus the lines. Also, stop by the office and sign up for Tanger rewards! You get a free coupon book every time (instead of paying $5 for it) and other perks as well. Tanger Outlet at Deer Park wins, especially for parents. This is a quick little drive from BK (thank you Waze) and my mom and I frequent during the holiday season to troll for reasonably priced gifts that will make a huge impact. For context I had about 12 nieces/nephews/god children to shop for this year ranging in age between 4 months and 16 years old. Special thanks to Carters and Charlotte Ruse for your help there. After Christmas (when I could once again shop guilt-free for myself) I hit Last Call and scored a pair of Lamb pumps (that I'd been lusting over for 6 months) on clearance (that is good karma - 1 pair in my size, what are the chances???!). I've gotten some great deals here, but patience is the key. Also, they give thought to how the overall shopping experience for both parents and kids can be improved (there is a huge movie theater and even a small ice skating rink where pre-teens can occupy themselves while mom (or dad) go hunting). Food options aren't great, but there is a Starbucks and I believe a Johnny Rockets. Deer Park is by far the closest and cheapest to navigate to (no tolls). Riverhead is my top pick for Sunday shopping and they have many more stores. Jersey Shores (in the summer) is probably my favorite though because there are also nice malls in the area. And I rather all over the tourist trap known as Woodbury Commons. read more

I have been coming here for years. I introduced this Tanger Outlet to my bf and he fell in love too. I mean who the heck wants to drive all the way out to Tanger Outlets at Riverhead? Not me! The drive was about 35 minutes to drive between Maspeth and Deer Park during a holiday weekend. The ride to Tanger Outlets at Riverhead is way over an hour. One time it took over two hours to get to Riverhead because of the traffic. That is too much driving to just go shopping! The layout at Riverhead doesn't make sense either because there are two separate sections at Riverhead where you have to drive to get to. Tanger Outlets At The Arches is clean and looks new. The lots now feel full of stores. I didn't remember seeing any empty lots this past weekend at The Arches Outlet. The layout at Deer Park lets me park the car one time during my whole shopping experience. I can shop at the entire outlet in one shot. All the stores are connected. The Deer Park layout makes more sense than their outlet in Riverhead. Not only can I hit all the major outlets at the Arches, I can also go to BJ's Wholesale, Kohl's and Stop & Shop all in one stop which is located right next door. That is a lot of shopping in one day! read more

This is very sad Outlet Mall. I had high hopes. Ritzy Dix Hills, label loving Commack are just stone's throw from here and yet, there is nothing really exciting going on here. The selection is wontonly low brow. GAP? I mean really? There is a GAP tucked into every other corner of Long Island, so was it wise to make it an anchor of this new outlet mall? I went tonight, a modestly cool temperatured Monday night and it was a ghost town. I went thinking they closed at 8, my bad they close at 930. Ok, the folks at Calvin Klein were super lovely and helpful and I nearly thought I had stumbled into my dream of winning a clothing shopping spree but then the time to leave came and they brought me to the counter. I say brought me because I basically had a personal shopper, I was the only one in the store for 20 of my 25 minutes there. I appreciated their letting me run around in my underwear to the full length mirror. So I guess Calvin's gets 5 stars but when I stepped out side, veritable Ghostown. It was like while I was inside all the people were whisked away by aliens and who wants to shop there. read more

I really love this location. This Tanger doesn't have certain stores Riverhead does but it is very similar. I feel like the circular design of the structure is really nice and of course since it's a newer construction it has more up to date seating areas. During the summer it's nice to walk and shop while baking a nice tan. The holidays are even better because they set up the ice rink and the decoration of trees and lighting through out is really pretty. The theater is probably the best in the area since Commack closed. I think the Christmas Tree Shop brings in a ton of people since it's the only mid island location besides Riverhead. I love Kate Spade they're always running great deals! read more

Outdoor outlet mall with confusing layout for first time visitors. Download the map of the mall before you go there and make sure that you remember the name of the closest alley to your parking space. Most of the alley ways are not shaded and since they are not enclosed, you need umbrella if it's raining. Decent selection of stores but the food options leave a lot to be desired. read more

For those that LOVE to shop, this is probably not the review to read. We came because we hate to shop but know that it has to be done. The mad Russian needed some new clothes for work and we figured we would get there early and then go for lunch somewhere. We arrived at 10am so parking was a breeze. Later in the day- say around two o'clock, good luck. While we were loading up our bags the next car was waiting to take our spot. They choices of stores was what you might expect for an outlet center- we visited Sak's, Banana Republic, Talbots, and a few others. The deals were good and according to the receipts, we saved so much money that we had enough money left over to buy a Lear jet. I don't know if the values stated are real or a gimmick but we felt better when my $220 dress shirt only cost $49.90 when all the discounts were taken. Once the crowds started showing up, our patience grew thin. Hordes of people came from every direction and at least for us, made shopping unbearable. That's when we decided to grab a bite to eat and wash it down with a beer. There are mostly fast food kind of places in the actual mall but in the parking lot there are other choices for a sit down meal. I'm told that there are always strong winds in the area and I wondered if the design of the mall could have helped or hurt. Everything is offset at 45 degrees that without the use of the directories located throughout, would make it hard to find what you were looking for. The main draw of the Outlets relative to Simon Malls are constant sales and discounts; however, the price differences are rarely that dramatic. If you intend to make a large number of purchases for events like 'Back to School,' then the savings can add up. Most people visit the Outlets for a full day of shopping, since there are always more stores to explore. I enjoy the open-air environment that the walkway uses, since it offers enough space during busier days. I've purchased sporadically here, with products ranging from athletic wear to driving gloves. The patrons tend to be middle-aged, middle-income parents with young children, with great ethnic diversity. In sum, visit the Outlets if you need to shop in bulk, and have time to spare. read more

When you're at Tanger you feel like you're in Disney World. Just the vibe feels like you aren't in your hometown. Anyways, there are plenty of stores here but nothing great. The parking stinks. If you plan on buying a lot of things you need to walk back to your car to store them and continue your shopping which can be a huge pain. The Christmas Tree Shop has a lot of cheap items, but the quality of most things there are also cheap and crappy. I only go to this outlet for the Gap, Banana Republic, Kate Spade and Saks off Fifth. I don't find any other stores to have that great of deals. It's always crowded and there's usually small kids running around aimlessly unsupervised. It's kind of a headache going here to be honest. It's pretty expensive to travel up to Woodbury Commons with all the tolls and price of gas. Tanger Outlets out in Riverhead is also quite a road trip out to Long Island, so I was pretty excited to hear that a new Tanger Outlets was opening in Deer Park, which is not too far away from Manhattan and Queens (and without the bridge tolls). So I made the trek out on opening weekend to check out the new Tanger Outlets and was amazed at how packed this outlet center was. The local traffic was a bit more than expected, since it already is in a busy area. I can only foresee it getting worst since some of the roads leading out of the center are only 1-2 lanes each way. The parking lot is pretty large to accommodate most if not all customers. Half of the lot was still a dirt field causing quite a bit of dust particles to blow in the air and getting in people's faces and clothes. I'm guessing they will pave the rest of parking lot in the near future. And now to the stores. This Tanger Outlet was well-thought out, with the majority of stores formed in a L-shaped loop. In the center is a large plaza where The Gin Blossoms were performing on-stage. It drew a nice crowd which was quite roomy for people to sit and stand. Thought was also put into the layout of the stores, such as the baby stores (Carter's, The Children's Place, Gymboree Outlet, etc.) which have been grouped together in a certain area of the loop. About a little more than half the stores were open while other storefronts were vacant or still being built. I noticed quite a bit of construction was occurring inside some of the stores, so I'm guessing the majority of stores won't open until Christmas, or Thanksgiving if lucky. A couple disappointments was that there were no plans for a Coach, Ralph Lauren, The North Face, DKNY, or Armani Exchange mentioned in the upcoming stores. The Christmas Tree Store definitely made up for it though, as this store seemed to be a very big hit for many of the customers as well as myself. If you haven't heard of it, don't let the name fool you as this place has many different items similar to a Bed Bath & Beyond but at rock-bottom prices. Another unexpected thing was a Regal Cinemas movie theater. If you're looking for something to eat, do not expect a central food court as the restaurants are dispersed along the Tanger loop. The food court is usually a nice place for people to relax and get out of bad weather, but to accommodate that, Tanger has implemented several glassed roofs in random areas to battle the elements above (see my photos attached). Definitely check out this outlet, and don't forget to sign up for the Tanger Club if you plan to shop here or any other Tanger Outlet. The Tanger Club is a $10 one-time fee for a lifetime membership. You will get a free gift which is a nylon tote (red or black) that is pretty durable, as well as a coupon book during each visit. The coupon books usually go for $5, so you make up for it after two visits. Not a horrible outlet, but if I had a choice I would probably drive the extra 20-25 minutes and go to the Tanger in Riverhead which has A LOT more stores. This is a good outlet to go to if you have a couple of hours to kill (you won't need to spend more time than that here) and don't want to make a whole day out of shopping. It has a few big flagship stores such as Neiman Marcus last call and Off Saks 5th Avenue, but other than that just the typical stores that you can find at any other outlet. None of the big high-end stores like Gucci, Fendi, Burberry etc as you would find in Woodbury premium outlets. Although not much of a shopper/bargain hunter's heaven, this place does have a IMAX & Regal Movie theater and a couple of sit-down eateries. Not a bad place for a casual date I guess-- the place is never crowded and is a good location to stroll around leisurely while window shopping. read more

Big fan of the arches. There is much less traffic here than say at the Tanger in Riverhead. Yes, they may have less stores, but in my opinion that calms my inhibition to make decisions on which stores to visit. Less options, less worry. This location is very clean and well maintained. There is plenty of parking to go around so no worries (unless let's say it's Black Friday). They don't have a food court, but I don't mind that. However, they do have a pretty nice movie theater. From time to time they have amazing deals. Like any outlets you're going to have a sale here and there. But last weekend I hit the jackpot. There was a big promotion going on with their Pink Style booklets. If you buy a booklet for $5 it comes with 5 coupons for 25% off an items of choice at participating stores. Luckily, those included all the stores I was shopping at! It was well worth the money. I believe I got a pair of Talbot work pants for $35. Win. There isn't a lot of selections, but it is great if you know what you're looking for and what store you need to go to. There is also a lot of good deals during the holidays. It's definitely better than a strip mall, but these outlet malls seem to be a dime a dozen lately. And in my opinion this mall is alright but nothing really special. It has all of the basic stores that you would find and yet there is nothing remarkable about these stores. From what i've heard these outlet stores don't carry the same quality that you would find in the normal stores, the stitching is generally not as carefully crafted as is the quality of the fabric. Of course you probably can find the regular store rejects but they always seem to only have 3x large. OK i know that i'm overweight but if i ever get to the point where 3x fits me, please just send me to fat camp. either that or start fundraising so that i can get liposuction. read more

I am an outlet mall shopper. I absolutely dislike malls. I hate the muzak, hard floors, bright flurorescent lights, long lines and confusing multi-level floors. Give me an open floor plan, sunshine, cool breeze, nearby parking and spaced out stores anytime. I like that I can go to a few stores and quickly drop everything off at the car and return quickly without having to wait for elevators, hike for half a mile, and the best part is that you don't feel overwhelmed by the multitude of stores or malls. This location pretty much has all the stores that I like to shop in and the food options are much, much better and a little more healthier than Tanger Riverhead...Come on, who doesn't like Chipotle, Johnny Rockets, Nathans, Red Mango and Starbucks? In the summer they have a green market where you can buy fresh veggies and fruits and in the winter they have the skating rink. How cool is that? read more

Still fairly new, the place looks great, though I found the layout to be awkward to navigate. If you visit, be prepared for a long walk. This is such a PRETTY outlet... it has a very Venetian feel to it and you just feel relaxed and happy here (but then again, I am relaxed and happy everytime I shop). I'm not a huge fan of big names. I mean, not at outlets at least. The Gucci and Ferragamo at Woodbury always has the ugliest, most out of season things. I'd rather pay full price for something I wouldn't be embarassed carrying. Anyways, I am a big Banana Republic fan since I mostly shop for work now, and I will browse the Ann Taylor and GAP here as well. My husband likes the shoe stores -- Nike, Reebok, Rockport, etc. We've eaten at the Nathan's and Johnny Rocket's here and there are no complaints from us! Especially the JR, they dance and sing at specific songs -- it's actually uplifting :) This is my go-to place when I want to do some retail therapy, since it's only 25 minutes from home, instead of the torturous 1hr drive to Riverhead, Woodbury or crazy Jersey Gardens. BTW, someone mentioned that the "one center" sucked and that Riverhead was better. Are you kidding me? This Outlet is super clean, bright and not too much of a walk (a day at the Outlets at Riverhead make me feel like I ran a marathon). The set up can be very confusing, more similar to a traditional malls set up rather than an outlets. I came here on a Tuesday afternoon, and I think there may have been 20 other shoppers in the place, seriously. It was kind of depressing, and the outlets are placed in such a weird way that it's really far from one end to another, and we were so tired by the time we made a circle that we didn't even bother to go to the other side of the mall. Overall, there were no particular crazy deals, and it's really really far, passed the Hampton's. It's similar to Woodbury Commons, except they don't have Gucci, Chanel, Prada, etc,. Jersey Gardens is better, plus they don't charge tax on clothing and it's easier to get to. read more

Tanger!!! I love this place, even in the winter time it's fun to be out here freezing. Parking is usually good but there are some days that there's crazy good sales or a live performances so everyone rushes down here. I find it funny that even on a rainy day a lot of people come here but I've done it a few times. They have 90% of my favorite stores like Banana Republic, A&E, J. Crew, Journeys, UGG, Adidas, Kate Spade(great prices) and Vineyard vines(the sales are ok but of course the prices are still high). There's also a Cinema here so you can still come after the stores close. I dislike that they don't have a Victoria Secrets, Tory burch and True Religion store. read more

I came here when it just opened up and I came here again for labor day weekend sale, and I wouldn't come back again. 1/3 of the stores weren't open yet the first time I came here, probably because this outlet was still fairly new, but 1/2 of the stores were closed by labor day weekend of 2009. I came here on a beautiful, windy but not too windy overcast day. The car ride up here wasn't too bad either. I was conked out for most of it so my perception of time was probably skewed. The outlet I usually go to is the Woodbury Commons but unfortunately, that's a little farther so we decided to give Tanger a visit. The Tanger at Deer Park is a lot smaller than the one in Riverhead, I think. I didn't mind too much because I got some pretty good deals at the usual stores (Ann Taylor, American Eagle, BCBG). This outlet is super clean and not too crowded. I don't think a lot of people go here, which I love. I also love that there are so many benches and chairs. Every time I felt a shopping cramp coming on, I just plopped down and took a nap. read more

they offer some great stores that are not around here: Saks 5th Ave-Off 5th and Neiman Marcus Last Call. Most of the stores are marketed as an outlet store, but I had a hard time actually finding outlet prices. Most offered a lot of regular store items with regular store prices. It is beautiful to look at though. The Christmas tree store makes the trip worth it! Don't miss this one. they have great items at great prices. And its not all Christmas related. parking is a PIA, and the layout is terrible!! I'd rather make the drive out to Riverhead then deal with this place, and at least they are TRUE OUTLETS. Wow, alot of hate for this outlet! Very similar to woodbury commons(and this tangers was built to compete with woodbury) if you get lost there, then u must have gotten lost at woodbury. It is a very elegant outlet, yes modeled like a quaint little 'european' village, unlike woodbury. The only CON: is the amount of stores. Both woodbury and tanger riverhead has nearly double the amount of stores. I don't see room for expansion as the available spaces are taken up by BJ's, Home Depot, etc. etc. PROS: Much more different kinds of food unlike Tanger Riverhead: has Chipotle, Red Mango, and more. Much more bathrooms, and scattered everywhere throughout the complex. Jersey Gardens have the worst bathroom system. There's a 10-15 min drive from the LIE before actually reaching the outlet. Both Tanger Riverhead, Jersey Gardens and Woodbury are right next to the highways. They say no dogs in the complex, but I see people bringing their dogs anyway. Beautiful center plaza, with a very nice theatre. Overall, a very pleasant experience. This is my favorite outlet to go to. It's much closer than Woodberry and you don't have to pay tolls to get here. Very new and clean here with all the usual stores (Nike, Banana Republic, J Crew). The only thing I wish this place had was more food options. Chipotle and Johnny Rockets are fine but a little more would be better. The first time I went to Tanger, I was very amazed, I didn't believe there was so many stores to shop from. like Nike factory, old navy, gap, banana republic and many others. the scenery is beautiful. The way that they built it, seems like you are in Spain or Mexico. as soon as you get to the center, there is an amazing fountain where there are more name stores like Tommy Hilfiger, timberland, Izod, Kevin Cole and also regal movies, lets not forget the restaurants like johnny rockets, blimpie, chipotle and many others. Then the savings, are great, don't forget to stop by at the office to pick up your membership and get your coupon books for your savings. but try to hang with a budget, why you may ask, because with the clearance , sales, and savings you will break the bank, LOL read more
