I hate to do this, but I am so sad. The last three times I ordered from here, I was unsatisfied with the food. Tonight I had Saag Paneer and it was swimming in oil, I had to skim it off the top, and even then I could not eat it. It did not taste good. All the items I had tasted strange, the spices were unpleasant. Even the Ras Malai tasted odd. I do not think I will order from here again. I do not know how this happened. This place has been disappointing for a while, but I have it another shot. I came in last night for a few reasons: I'd been wanting to order from here for over a week, but the online menu was incomplete -- missing core items I've ordered before. Sure, I could've called or used a food app, but I prefer to support businesses directly. The inconsistency across their menus (on their website, delivery apps, and in-store) already made things frustrating, so I ended up eating elsewhere last week. Last night, I came in to hopefully place an order, let them know about the incomplete menu, and ask about a discount I received via email -- which I couldn't use online because the menu is broken. I spoke to two employees. I've eaten here before but stopped going because the chicken tikka masala dish barely has any chicken (and what little there is, is dry despite being smothered in sauce), and it's overpriced for what you get, and they only give the green sauce no matter how many times you ask for tamarind or both, or just do whatever they want. Still, I was craving Indian food, so I gave this place another shot. Right away, the energy was off. I've been here before and been treated like an afterthought -- unless I was alone and being flirted with or given free tea. But because I came in this time with my partner, the vibe was entirely different: cold, dismissive, even smug. I explained and showed how the online menu is incomplete. I said: how can I order something if I don't know it exists? There's no full menu anywhere. The guy nodded and said, "I know what you mean." When we asked about the discount I got by email just that day (around 4:19 p.m.), he asked to see it and said it was only for one item (a veggie wrap). He called a second employee over (the one who usually takes orders and handles the register, has given me free tea in the past), who said he had to check his deals and it had already expired. That was false -- it said it was valid for 3 days. Then the story changed: discount applicable to items on my version of the limited menu. We made it very clear that the whole reason we were in person was because the online menu wasn't working -- we couldn't access or view the full selection. Every QR code in the store led to the same incomplete menu: appetizers, biryani, naan, desserts, beverages. No entrees, wings, tandoori options, curry specials. To prove this, I scanned every QR code in the restaurant -- all led to the same broken menu. The only physical menu I found was an old, dusty vegan menu from some other business taped to their drink machine. He pulled out his phone to smugly show his menu (with everything visible) and told me my phone must be broken. I pointed out that, of course, he could see the full menu -- he's logged in as a business owner or admin, with backend access. That's common sense. Still, no solution was offered. No attempt to fix it. Just a lot of condescension and gaslighting. I understand websites, archiving, and user accessibility. I was honestly trying to help them improve their customer experience -- and in return, I was dismissed and disrespected. Ultimately, it became clear: they didn't want me to order anything. The entire interaction felt intentionally unwelcoming. I understand language and cultural differences, but this was more than that. This was about how I was treated -- especially compared to past visits when I came in alone. Then, it was fake smiles, free stuff, borderline-flirting. But when I came in with my partner -- it was an entirely different, nasty energy. I left feeling disrespected and discriminated against -- for my gender, race, ethnicity, and sexuality. And to top it all off, the food I saw behind the counter looked old, dry, and discolored. So thank you, honestly, for saving me the money -- even if you couldn't save me the aggravation. I hope this business starts listening to customers instead of brushing them off. But I won't be back. And I don't care to hear a reply -- if it's anything like the way I was treated in-store, I already know you won't be listening to understand. read more

5/5/25, I ordered today for the first time in the Bronx, Indian food and was mediocre and taste ok. I have had better Indian food. It was delivered pretty fast. I ordered the Mongo Chicken Curry spicy added garlic Naan, Rice, and salad & Raita and also Chicken Takka Masala as well. I found it a little pricey, had to paid $4 extra if I wanted rice and a salad to go with it a very small portion while the dish was $14+.The Chicken Takka Masala had very few pieces of chicken total 4 pieces as well as the second order. I found the 2 orders to be over priced for the amount of food given. I got a discount with Uber eats and total price was $41+. Without uber eats would have been close to $60. So you tell me is it worth it? I would not be ordering again. read more

In this place your discriminated against if your not a MALE MUSLIM. I have tried to order 3 different times in the restaurant. Slowly venturing to explore the menu with each order, but typically the lamb and chickpea dishes are my favorites We've only ever ordered delivery, however, and there have been struggles with that process. Though we order directly on the website to better support the business, the order routes to Grubhub it seems anyway. We've had a few delivery snafus lately that colored the experience and we wish it were just straightforward delivery method - like clearly Grubhub or in-house delivery staff. This is definitely a place that one would miss, unless you lived in the neighborhood. Situated in a heavily populated area with beautiful people from Lebanon, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. When the locals are eating here, you know you've found a good place. This is no frills dining. You will not be served, have chinaware or glassware (I'm not complaining, merely just a note) They provide paper plates and plastic cutlery if you want to dine in. Service was pleasant and with a smile. Tikka masala was flavorful and chicken was super tender. The meal is served with a side salad and white rice. We're repeat online customers and while the food is good the customer service is poor. All stars are fod the food. It's sad because we thought showing up in person and showing them some love was the best move. It resulted in no greeting or acknowledgement of our existence just a nod to look at the menu online. The purposeful misunderstanding of our order, even though it was repeated 3x, then the refusal to refund. Ultimately they did let us exchange an item so 2 stars for the service. The night I ordered from here, there was nothing in the house for dinner--I decided to give a new place a shot. I found Tandoori Place, an Indian restaurant with a solid 4.2 on Yelp and an even better 4.9 on GrubHub. I was disappointed to not see Lamb Saag (my usual) on the menu, but I figured I'd get Saag Paneer instead, as well as a couple of sides and a raspberry lemonade to drink. On arrival, I found that the portion size was somewhat small, but figured the flavor would make up for it--I was wrong. I ordered the hottest spice level they had (they call it "Bomb!"), only to find that not only did it have no heat, but barely any flavor at all. From the whole wheat roti, to the rice, to the main dish, even the included tamarind sauce lacked flavor and substance. At the very least, the raspberry lemonade was pretty good and tasted house-made, and what saves them from a one-star is the simple fact that the order was correct and the food uncontaminated--of course, not a very high bar. With all due respect, I am genuinely surprised at the restaurant's relatively high ratings, and I'm not entirely sure I'll be back to see why. read more

Tandoori Place is a solid place for Desi food in the Bronx (which is unfortunately rare unless you're in Parkchester). Everything here is good ranging from the kati rolls to the biryani. My co-workers and I also ordered the chicken korma and it was not only very tasty but also came in a huge portion as well. This is my favorite Indian restaurant in all of NYC. The food is so delicious I sometimes feel emotional eating it. No exaggeration. The spot is small with a limited seating area. An unassuming hole in the wall with out of this world flavor. I walked in expecting basics but the menu covers almost all authentic Indian dishes and they're done RIGHT. The food tasted fresh, large portions, at a very good price. I'm shocked they offer Dining in and Open until 3am . I mean this is just unbeatable. I was really excited to try this spot. I found that delivery is free if you order on their website and that they had a promo code for $5 off (enter word "welcome" at website checkout) so I thought: why not! I ordered the lamb wrap that comes with home made chips. The wrap itself was delicious, full of flavor BUT small (don't expect it to be burrito sized). The sauce that came with the chips or to add to the wrap was too watery but good flavor. I'm trying to decide if it's worth $9... flavor wise, I guess so (plus it's lamb meat which is normally more expensive) but size... not really. Just be prepared for a small size if you order. I also ordered the lunch combination of chicken tikka masala. Let's start by the pros: -rice was great and HUGE portion. -veggies had amazing flavor and was good size. Now for the cons: -three small bite pieces of chicken in watery tikka masala sauce (I was expecting it to be a thicker sauce). It did taste ok, but watery. Small portion for lunch with plenty of watery sauce to pour over all that rice. -the box came all messy, it's ok because there are sauces so you can expect that. -overall I think it was needing some salt (I normally cook with very little to no salt) which makes me think that, in fact, the sauces were watered down. -the naan that came with the lunch combo was huge but too fluffy for naan. I didn't really enjoy it. Delivery was faster than expected, the lady was very professional and nice. Bottom line: it's an ok place to order from if you get a discount and you're not expecting amazing Indian food. Ended up paying less than $12 and I have some leftovers for dinner! read more

I'be back for sure. Update as of 12/14/19: I've been back several time since my initial review. I'm happy to report that if anything has changed about this place, it's only gotten better. My son now is also a big fan. The chicken karai, (not sure I'm spelling that right) is to DIE FOR!!! Also I've read some complaints about the lamb rogan josh curry, that it was expensive and not enough meat. I'm not sure who is complaining but I've had it, and it was superb! For the price they charge for their meals they should be giving customers more food. The portions are absolutely ridiculous - i recently ordered a large lamb vindaloo which came with 4 small pieces of lamb and a tub of curry. The flavors are delicious but they need to do better. Tandoori Place you would have more long standing customers if you consistently offer proper portion sizes for your meals. read more

I think it replaced Spice & Rice, don't remember if S&R was in the same storefront or maybe it was a few stores down, but anyway that used to be my go to spot for Indian food in the east Bronx. Tandoori Place just about fills S&R's shoes as my go to place in the east BX for Indian food. I recommend their Kahari chicken, and the kati rolls, and the samosas are great too. I usually get the chicken tikki masala kati rolls. I asked for no onions in the tikka masala kati rolls and I didn't think they'd even be able to accommodate because it would be part of the dish already but was surprised to see when I picked up that they indeed did not have any onions. So they're good with following requests, in my experiences. I asked for the chicken Kahari without onions but they weren't able to because they said it was part of the dish (so I guess slightly inconsistent with what I first said this time), but they did try and call me to notify me. The chicken Kahari sauce was really good and tasty. Kati rolls are great too. The dough wrap used is nice and flaky and chewy, and the chicken tikka masala is great tasting. Overall the price is reasonable. For less than $7 you get a kati roll (halved) with some homemade potato chips. Some of the standalone dishes, in my opinion, are a bit on the higher side, but not outrageous. When I get Indian food it's usually in Queens or Manhattan, and if I had to go someplace that had great Indian food and wanted to venture out it would more be in Manhattan or Queens, but this place is a solid choice for the area. read more
