So I work approximately 10 mins from this Bengali restaurant. I ordered through the Yelp app. I had high hopes while ordering from here. A few Bengali co-workers had mentioned this place . I ordered the chicken Biryani, butter chicken, some naan, an Okra dish 4 wifey and finally some veggie loaded samosa's with huge pieces of potato and it was very greasy - cause the brown bag it was in the as soaked all over with oil! As I was walking back to the car, I at two samosas. I was particularly hungry and they tasted good. When. I arrived home I had shared the Biryani, one piece of buttered chicken & the naan with the life partner. Even while I was eating this food, I was thinking, something is not exactly right about the way this food is going down. It didn't taste fresh. The meat in particular. I found out why. Later that night I woke up at 5 am with very loose stool and I'm fouling up the bthroom! It's Not worth it. I wouldn't order again from here. I'd recommend TANDOOR PLACE just ONE half block near to this place on - 2146 STARLING AVE, if I were to get hungry for soma good Bengali dishes. TANDOORI PLACE IS a bit more expensive but the quality of the food was better and I had no gastrointestinal complaints later on. And one more thing. If you look at the picture I took this place has an A rating. Which rates restaurants based on how well they follow food safety regulations. This rating confounds me. It should be more like C rated. I don't like to write these kinds of reviews, but it's important for people to be aware when ordering from this restaurant. I hope the business takes this feedback constructively. I placed an online catering order and followed up with an email, but never received a response. Following initial contact with the restaurant via landline, I was assured that they had indeed verified and received the order. Furthermore, they confirmed both the date and the scheduled pick-up time. However, when I arrived on the pick up date, the staff didn't know anything about the order. They scrambled to make it last minute, and the food was terrible. I regret to inform that the rice was rather bland, dry, and overcooked. Furthermore, the kebabs seemed dry and stale, as if they had been reheated. I have to mention that the number of kebabs I received was less than what I had ordered, by three. It was quite disappointing to serve this to my guests. The owner/ management team seems more focused on money than customer satisfaction. Their customer service is horrible, and there's no accountability. I noticed that while the owner or management team may respond to reviews, there appears to be a lack of improvement in the customer experience or resolution of reported issues.They didn't offer any solutions or compensation, and the staff member was only polite to me because they knew it was their fault. They also wouldn't let me speak to the owner or management team. So, for anyone placing a catering order, be very careful and stay on top of them, constantly reminding them, because they don't take customers seriously. read more

The price for the appetizers is crazy good for the size of each plate, and the food quality is high. The service is also wonderful! Our waiter was very kind and came to our table often to check on us. Always gotta have Bengali food whenever I come back to NY. I usually go to Jackson heights but My friends live in the Bronx now and they found a small Bengali neighborhood that satisfies my cravings. You can't go wrong with any dish at this restaurant. If you want to be a little adventurous try the liver samosa; for everyone else they will have the potato and veggie samosas as well as fried chicken rolls. We usually get some sort of biryani, a curry dish and kebabs. The portions are huge and prices are cheap. You can be really full for only $10 a head. read more

Authentic Bangladesh food, you can get anything and it's taste great. The waiter was amazing, he explained all the dishes to us, suggested the amount to get and share for our 4 party person! A friend of mine just ordered some food for me. I typically get chicken biryani, samosas, and naan from here. When the food arrived home I noticed piece of chicken bone inside the rice. Yesterday I was in the area at it was almost iftar time ( 10 mins left for iftar) So I rushed to al aqsa restaurant to get iftar. As I tried to go inside the door was locked. There was many customers buying food. One employee came to the door and said they are closed for iftar. I requested him that I just need some food to buy to break my fasting and I don't need to come in. But he didn't listen and didn't open the door. I never had any experience where you close the door at iftar time and don't let people in. Google and their website says they are open everyday 9am-11pm. I ended up buying something from a supermarket nearby and break my fast. read more

Such a great place! We were visiting a relative in Bronx from Montreal and having grown up in Bangladesh, got instantly mesmerized by the number of Bangladeshis in the neighborhood. We decided to stop by Al Aqsa to have breakfast in Bangladeshi style. They didn't disappoint us! The food was just like what I used to have back in Bangladesh! The omelet, paratha, sabji was so good and the kind waitress who was serving us stopped by couple of times to ensure everything is fine and if we need anything else. After reading about their malai chai on a paper clip hanged on their wall I wanted to try that out after breakfast but unfortunately they serve that only in the afternoon and evening. After trying their "normal" chai my wife and me literally became speechless and stared at each other! No kidding! It was the BEST chai I've had outside of Bangladesh. What a treat! The liquor was thick and the tea aroma was "intoxicating". We wondered if their "normal" chai is this good, what would be their "malai" chai. Since we were supposed to be leaving NY that night we decided to stop by again in the late afternoon/evening for their malai chai. Unfortunately they ran out of it when we went there in the evening and it usually takes around 2-3 hours of milk boiling to make a new batch of malai chai. We ended up having their normal chai again along with samosa and moglai paratha. They were all equally good! One last thing I want to mention is it's not only the food that made us fall in love with place. It was also the atmosphere. There were so many Bangladeshi people both in the morning and evening and their gossip (adda in Bangla) made us feel at home! Unbelievable experience!!! I grew up in Singapore with some of the best food in the world and this was my first place in New York to find authentic flavors of my childhood. Truly incredible spices, diversity, and genuine service. They cleared a booth for me and my friends to have a place to eat together and delivered everything right to our table. Me and my friend had a road trip few days ago Imdianapolis to Bronx NY and back. It was short trip, and spent only few hours in the neighbourhood. Friends and FNF were talking about the new thing "Biden Biryani". So we went there and saw people are on line, it felt good. So we got 2 of those so called Biden Biryani and 4 Kachchi Biryani. Spent about $100. One of the most awful Biryani I ever had in my life. The cook do not know how to cook food, Biryani is out of the question. I do not know where to begin and where to end. The whole thing was a mass. Thing I should tell you though " I would have shave the Biryani in his ass" if I was there in the restaurant when I was eating it. Total garbage, complete waste of money. I ordered from here today. I usually order from Tandoori Place, but they're so pricy. I ordered chicken biryani and 3 vegetable samosas. It is much cheaper and more authentic than Tandoori Place. You can actually see the spices in the biryani. They're not cheap with the meat and they give you an egg with it (the way it's supposed to be). The food is sooooo good! You honestly can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The place can be a little intimidating at first because there are so many items to choose from. If you get confused the super sweet staff will gladly explain the ingredients and will offer you a small sample. I like to order small containers of 5-6 items, (don't worry, it's very reasonably priced) and take everything to go so I can savor each bite with my eyes blissfully closed... the food is really that good. If you're not ready to go 'all in' with a full meal walk towards the register and get a snack. Start with a chicken samosa, (ground seasoned chicken in thin crispy philo dough) or veggie samosa (curry potatoes with carrots and peas in a (thicker than philo dough but not too thick, crispy fried dough), meat or chicken patty or a shish kabob. They also have a fried mashed potato ball with a hard boiled egg inside (one of my favorites) and crispy fried mashed cauliflower (also a fav but a little greasy). Ask for the green dipping sauce. It's beyond delicious and very spicy!. Wash it down with honey tea (black tea with honey, mint, sliced fresh ginger and cardamom pods). One last thing, while most of the snacks are not spicy the main dishes can be very very spicy. Ask the staff which dishes are spicy and they will accommodate you accordingly. This place is the bomb.com. Pricing is good, portions are huge and the food is so flavorful. I couldn't finish all the food so I microwaved it a few days later and it still tasted great. This used to be Neerob but is renamed and they downsized a bit. The menu is pretty much the same foods, but they add some dishes on the weekends. The curries are nice and spicy and biryani is like home cooking. Prices are very reasonable too. It gets crowded on weekend evenings but there is seating available. Be sure to finish your meal with the nice strong tea. Its delicious. They also serve take out and snacks like samosas which are a good size. read more

I came here for lunch with someone who comes here frequently. The place is not big, when you walk in there's a counter of hot food. You tell them what you want and they bring it to your table on the side The chicken curry was nice and spicey. I had a samosa it's a pastry filled with potatoes and carrots and it had some kick to it! really opened up my stuffy sinuses. The Naan bread was warm and tasty sopped it up with the chicken curry. My boyfriend was in the mood to try something different that was close to home, so he decided to come here. He ordered rice and chicken for me and rice and goat for himself. (Takeout) I literally live across the street, yet by the time he got home with the food it was cold. Which means, it was served cold. We ended up having to microwave our food. On top of that, the side salad that was supposed to come with the meal was wrapped in an aluminum foil ball. I have never, Ever been served cold food before or a ball of salad. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the rice was pretty good. But I will not be going back again. Rule number 1 in the restaurant biz, serve your food heated. The food quality and staff service was so much better when Kukoon owned this restaurant. Unfortunately he relocated neerobs and this is just a low quality version of the food that was once served. And just to mention, everytime I order biryani, I practically have to beg for the side salad (even though it's supposed to come with the order). I'd advise you to head over to Khalils or the new neerobs if you don't want stomach aches the following morning. All in all, horrible food quality and shitty service. Whoever operates this joint should invest in customer service courses for their employees. read more

They will still charge you the full amount along with the delivery fee even if your order was placed in error and you canceled it through Uber app less than 5 seconds after. I called Uber eats about the charge and was told the restaurant told them they already started preparing the order which I highly doubt and I would still be charged the $28. read more
