I would have never guessed that there would be great quality sushi in a hotel, but Tamon Sushi was such a nice surprise! Located on the 2nd floor of the Miyako Hotel in Little Tokyo, this spot id for sure a hidden gem. We made reservations for a Sunday night dinner and were promptly seated. It was fairly quiet with only a few other tables being served, but that could be because it was a rainy day. Our server was soft-spoken, nice, and polite. All of the sushi tasted so fresh and delicious, including the uni and magoro! Food presentation was great, too! Also, the hot green tea was really good! All in all, it was a wonderful dinner experience and I would definitely return.

Let's get the party started. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday dinner in omakase style. We started with blue fin tuna and scallops. Then we were served Japanese vegetables with taro,, beans, lotus roots and carrots. Then came Shalit, bluefin tuna, and yellowtail sushi. The grilled fish was sea bass and it was super flavorful and juicy. Stopped jack, ackarel and horse mackerel came next. The highlight for me was the sea urchin and salmon roe. Always my favorite go to sushi. The fish were overall fresh. Overall dining experience is good. I highly recommend this restaurant located inside the hotel. Corkage fee is $25.

Really delicious omakaze, amazing service and an unbeatably quiet dining experience if you're able to book the private room!

Okay don't judge me. I know it's illegal to get steak and fries at a sushi place but we stumbled upon their happy hour after previously staying at the Miyako, and have been getting their steak and fries ever since. Their fries are truly the best fries I've ever had in my entire life. They're chunky and crinkle cut, so they remind me of crinkle cut potato wedges. The sides are perfectly crispy, and the potato inside is SO SOFT!! Their sake and eel and sashimi are also pretty good too, but it's just a tradition to get their fries. I hope to try more of their menu sometime soon!!

We found this gem of a restaurant hidden on the second floor of the Miyako hotel. It's one of the best kept secrets in LA! Delicious and authentic Japanese food. Fresh and tasty seafood! Try the Chirashi!

Even though the JapanUp! Magazine advertised the breakfast buffet at this location from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, few (except for the hotel patrons) are aware of its food offerings at this time of day. It appears I am the first to review it for the breakfast buffet. The buffet is your typical Japanese curry and miso soup + continental style breakfast. It costs $28 plus tax and tip, but if you are a hotel guest, you get a coupon for a cost of $21 plus tax and tip. So, not exactly a steal. If I were to price it at a good value cost, I would say that $18 per person is closer to what I would have liked to pay. Food: decently tasty. Curry rice, miso, natto, scrambled eggs, pickled items, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes, grilled salmon, sausage, bacon, and your offering of bakery items, such as waffles, danishes, muffins, and the like. Only fruit offered was honeydew melon, which was quite fresh. There was yoplait French vanilla yogurt. Drinks included milk, orange juice, and water. Coffee is offered, but you have to ask for it. There are hardly any customers in this place at this time , and we arrived here at 8:30 am. Piano music in the background. Servers don't hover over you too much. Ambiance is quiet, clean, classic leaning more towards old school look. Service is attentive and responsive. Would I return? Only if I couldn't find any other cheaper breakfast options. Overall good food, but the price is a little high.

Ambiance was wonderful. On the second floor on the nicest hotel in lil Tokyo. Super authentic and the servers were all very nice and they spoke Japanese too so you love to see it. Sat at the window and the views were just amazing. Check my video I got the tamon chiriashi for 50 dollars and thats such a good deal considering it's their premium one and the amount of fish you get. I just know some restaurants in other places would charge a lot more for this. All the fish were super fresh and delightful. I had so much fun eating this and it looks great for pictures Takowasa is wasabi octopus. It's kind of A slimey texture with a crunch. Sounds and looks gross but I really like this dish lol. It's hard to find places that have this. WILL BE COMING BACK AGAIN

Delicious sushi, super fresh! Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 5/5** The restaurant was super quiet when we went and my group of 3 were the only ones there the entire evening. The waitress helping us was really nice and answered all our questions. **Decor & cleanliness, 3.5/5** The decor was a bit plain but did have a big window wall overlooking the street if you wanted a view. It's toned down and quite dark inside, but the restaurant wasn't as nice as the hotel area downstairs. **Price & portion, 5/5** For about $35, I got 8 pieces of nigiri and 6 small pieces of a sushi roll. It was the perfect amount for a meal and the cuts of fish were fresh and generous. **Presentation of the food, 5/5** Sushi will always be beautifully presented and this was no exception. Only the biggest platter will come on a wooden board though, the rest comes on regular white plates. **Taste of the food, 5/5** I really didn't know what to expect when I arrived since the restaurant was so low key, but wow the freshness of the fish blew me away. Each one is carefully cut and shaped, and the fact that each bite was different made the entire meal very exciting. The complimentary miso soup was also really good! **Other notes** They do NOT validate parking for the Little Tokyo plaza, they only validate parking for the hotel. Keep this in mind if you're driving here. There are also no appetizers on the menu if you're coming with a group and are thinking of sharing.

This was our first time at Tamon where we took advantage of their New Year's Buffet. The Buffet included AYCE sushi and hand rolls, appetizers and Osechi for New Years. We were fortunate to line up a reservation and were placed in a private room. The room made our dining experience very cozy and intimate. In fact, the whole restaurant felt small and intimate. Tamon is located on the second floor of the Miyako hotel where you get a birds eye view of the block. In terms of the sushi I'd say it was very good especially if you consider it being AYCE. Generally, I tend to shy away from AYCE establishments but in this case it was well worth it. The appetizers were also very good which were represented by beef teriyaki, salmon and chicken karaage. All in all, our experience was very good and we highly recommend Tamon.

We had lunch at Tamon Sushi, located on the 2nd floor of the Miyako Hotel, in the heart of Los Angeles' Little Tokyo. The restaurant is very unassuming; we barely saw any advertisement for it in the hotel, I only knew about the restaurant from researching our trip to Little Tokyo. When we entered the restaurant, it was still empty, having just opened. The young lady who would be our server, warmly greeted our party and led us to a nearby table. The adults in our party all opted for the ribeye steak while my niece chose the kids' bento; additionally, we order a couple of pieces of sushi (sea urchin and a toro hand-roll) and an order of their grilled pork belly appetizer. The food was good, the steaks were cooked to perfection and the potato wedges served with the steaks; crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, they were basically a whole baked potato cut into wedges and deep fried-- yummy but very filling. The steaks were well seasoned and fork-tender. My niece loved her kids bento which was comprised of a sliced up SPAM matsubi, Japanese fried chicken wings, some tamago (sweet Japanese omelette) and a sliced orange. We all enjoyed our meals, I was especially surprised by the butabara dakon complimentary appetizer (stewed pirk belly and daikon radish garnished with a pea pod). I didn't think I would instantly fall in love with a piece of stewed radish but it was so melt-in-your-mouth scrumptious, I became an instant fan and will be dreaming and craving about that radish. We still had enough room to be tempted by some dessert; we ordered their matcha tiramisu and the chocolate mousse. The desserts were equally as delicious as our savory meal, we ate every bit of it. The staff was also so nice, the two young ladies were kind and professional, they served our party with upmost efficiency. Overall, our entire meal was a completely positive dining experience.

Tamon Sushi is a somewhat hidden gem on the 2nd floor of the Miyako Hotel. We first discovered Tamon many years ago when the wait time was unbearable at practically all of the other sushi spots in Little Tokyo. The fish is very fresh and delicious. The service is amazing. The sushi chefs and executive chef are very friendly and prepare everything to perfection. The fried food is amazing too. I almost always order the hand-made wedge french fries because they are so perfectly seasoned and fried. We just had their wagyu sukiyaki special this visit and it was the best we have ever had. Everything on the menu is amazing and the sushi sets are a great value.

If there's one thing I hate, it's spending money on terrible food. I've heard decent reviews about this place from friends so I decided to give it a try. I really wanted to like this spot but there was just a lot to dislike: The fish is NOT fresh. In fact, it had a weird gray color going on that made it skeptical to eat- when we told the waiters that the fish wasn't fresh, he simply told us "it is fresh" then offered to switch it to a different cut (still not fresh). Granted it's not an expensive spot, I didn't expect top notch quality but come on. It didn't even come close to decent quality. My fresh water eel had a pungent freezer taste that I could not get past. I took a bite and left the rest. What a waste of money. Also, misleading happy hour signs. The signs at the restaurant clearly say HH until 8pm but when we sat down and asked our waitress (around 7:30pm), she told us HH had already ended? If you have signs all over the restaurant that say HH til 8pm, grant it or take down the signs. It's extremely misleading and it's also false advertising. There are so many good spots in little Tokyo, I would highly recommend checking those spots out-- even if you pay a bit more.

beyond expectations. The place was super quiet and at first didn't think it was going to be so great. But the sushi, cheesecake, and the vibe was great. The waitresses there are super friendly too! The matsu set came with the sushi, wine, and cheesecake when I went. Definitely worth $35!

Marugame Monzo's sauce, however, is the opposite of Menchirashi's. The sauce is SUPER flavorful with a rich, creamy mouthfeel and a strong umami flavor from the bacon and miso. I added mentaiko since I did the same at Menchirashi and honestly, everything was fantastic. The udon itself is pretty much exactly like fresh udon in Japan. Perfectly bouncy, chewy, and satisfying. Staff were also wonderful and service was insanely fast. We probably waited less than 10 minutes for both our udon and tempura, and they consistently checked in to make sure everything was good. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu, especially the uni cream udon. The only thing I didn't like was the shrimp tempura since it had a lot of batter and not a ton of shrimp, so it was on the greasy side. I did enjoy the soft boiled egg tempura though. The yolk exploded into the udon and somehow made the whole bowl even better hehe. There are plenty of tables inside with limited bar seating. If you're a 2 top you might be sharing a table real close with some neighbors (they put a divider). If there's a wait, write your name down on the clipboard outside!

I have tried different cream udon dishes here - the famous sea urchin cream udon, the carbonara udon, the mentai cream udon, the butter squid udon, etc... My fav would definitely be the mentai cream udon, as you get lots of yummy seafood (shrimps and scallops) in the sauce. The butter squid cream udon is also really good as well!! I like to pair my cream udon with a side of chicken karage!! I really like the batter that they use for the chicken! It's crunchy and airy and very well seasoned!! Service has always been amazing!
