Unfortunately, we discovered that they have not been performing their duties for many years. And one of their assistant even told us that they have not made any property visits for years even though their management contract calls for yearly visits. We have suspected that they have some type of "relationship" with the current tenant. They did not report to us that the tenant was running an auto repair facility, a dune buggy track and a marijuana grow farm on the property. We only found out when we received a citation from the county! Sutherland does not communicate at all. Everything is done through text or email and they sometimes do not reply for days. They never pick up the phone. Do not under any circumstances hire them. You will regret it.

I reached out to them minutes after they listed a rental on Chief Kelly Drive, and followed their application policies. Showing agent Leslie Robbins called me the following morning to let me know I was first in line and would have the first opportunity to see the rental and apply. She also stated that Sunday would be the first opportunity to see it. When I arrived for the appointment on Sunday, Leslie informed me that someone else had already submitted an application. I questioned her multiple times about how it was possible that someone else had already applied when she told me I was first in line and she responded that they just got a new application system and that somehow someone was able to submit an application and they can only process one application at a time, so if that person is approved then the rental is theirs. I called the office and spoke with owner Craig Adachi. I explained the situation and he said he would speak with Leslie to get her take on the situation. He called me back two days later after I'd left another voicemail message. He said Leslie told him that I was second in line and that she showed the property to this other individual on Friday because they were first in line. I again explained to Craig that Leslie told me I was first in line for this property and he said that it was my word against hers and that he believes her. I suppose it is her word against mine. Leslie lied to me and lied to the company's owner. She cheated the system (I'm sure for a friend). How can anyone trust a company like this? I can almost guarantee that I am a more qualified renter than this other individual, so their client (the homeowner) also loses out. What a terrible way to do business. I'm disheartened by the way this was handled, and a bit disappointed in humanity.

Before we started working with Drew, we had already been trying to sell our home, and had experienced a lot of difficulty, despite the generally hot market and a reasonable asking pricing. Drew really nailed all of the basics, like great communication and always doing exactly what he would do, when he said he would do it. Where he really went over the top was through being extremely well organized, diligent, and up-to-date with current market trends and marketing strategies. Right from the beginning, Drew put skin in the game by investing his own money in marketing the property. I took that as a huge vote of confidence in our house and his own confidence in getting it sold (remember, we had been trying to sell it previously without results). One thing I particularly appreciated was that Drew always followed up diligently with every agent who showed the house, and recorded detailed notes of all feedback. Even before we put the house on the market, he had an idea of how many showings we should expect, and a plan for how we would respond to the feedback as it came in and adjust course if necessary. I found this approach very helpful while waiting for the right buyer, because it became clear from his notes that the potential buyers who turned it down, did so because of some fundamental quality of the neighborhood or home that we couldn't change, and not because of the price. I know it was a lot of work for Drew to collect all of this feedback from agents who have no obligation to provide it, but his efforts prevented us from making unnecessary price reductions. Just as importantly, the constant flow of information put us at ease. I really can't stress how important it is to know what is going on in the minds of the people seeing your house. It makes the difference between stressing out, constantly wondering why it hasn't sold yet, and knowing with confidence that you have done all you can, and that it's just a matter of time before the right buyer comes along. I also appreciated that he took the time to really understand some unique aspects of our house, such as a solar power lease. This is a contract that is somewhat scary to buyers, because they are required to take it over, and it isn't the easiest thing to understand. He created a graph showing the savings over time, and helped coach buyers and their agents through understanding the system and the contract.
