I booked a Dry Style for CURLY/LONG/THICK HAIR but left with what felt like a rushed blowout. * Salon was locked when I arrived on time. * Stylist showed up late and didn't know about my appointment. * Service lasted under 25 minutes and didn't match what I booked. * My hair looked the same within 24 hours. First, let me say the few times I patronized this salon, I LOVED my hair. Kristin is an EXCELLENT stylist who understands the importance of hair care, she is PROFESSIONAL, and super funny! I enjoyed my experience with her. Having said that, this business is under new ownership and the energy in there is AWEFUL. The new owner is disrespectful to the stylists. It's very disturbing to see a such a talented staff look miserable and upset. He's loud, he yells, and honestly I feel he does not want a diverse clientele. I live steps away from this place - and will NEVER make another appointment here or return under any circumstances. I will also actively discourage all friends I have in the neighborhood from ever coming here. One of the worst experiences I have had with a business in the city of Chicago, let alone a hair salon. I made an appointment for a blowout for today at 9 AM - almost 2 months ago. I made this appointment because I had scheduled, professional engagement pictures today at 12 PM and wanted to look at feel my best. When I arrived at 9 AM, not only was the business closed (it says on Google they are open at 9 AM - so this should probably be changed). I called & was told that the person I scheduled by appointment with was no longer working at the salon and so there was no way to access the schedule. The fact the this affected my appointment was annoying to say the least- someone else who DOES work at the salon should have been there, if not then what is the point of making an appointment at a business that does not honor appointments, even after employees leave. I called, and I suspect the owner is who answered (he called me honey & sweetheart -which as an adult woman & paying customer is very offensive, condescending, and sexist). Hopefully this person does not talk to female customers like this in the future. He explained that the person I originally scheduled with was no longer there- and an employee would be there at 10 AM. I told him that I would need to confirm that this worked. Since I was told an employee would be there at 10 AM - I assumed I would be able to be serviced an HOUR after my original appointment. I go back at 10 - no one was there- I called again and the owner scolded me for not confirming- to which I asked why he told me someone would be there at 10 am if that wasn't true, again being sexist and condescending, calling me honey and sweetheart. He says someone is on their way and will be there at 10:30 - I confirm I will be there. Mind you, I have engagement pictures to get ready for - so this is already leaving me very crunched for time. I go back for the THIRD time at 10:30 - to my surprise there is someone there, with a customer who is already being serviced. I asked if there was availability for a blowout and was told it would be 20 minutes- so I waited until 11:15. When I finally left after not being serviced when I had an appointment at 9 AM originally, I run home with 35 minutes to do my own hair, and still needed to get dressed an do makeup. An absolute disgrace in customer service - and a horribly ran business. read more

Been going to Tamed for years! This used to be THE place for a convenient, high-quality silk press from talented stylists who know how to work with textured hair. Convenient location, diverse staff, complementary drinks, good music, almost a spa feel. All of that great ambiance changed under the new ownership. My primary stylist and the primary stylists of all my friends have left this business for reasons unknown. I'm assuming there's a correlation to the salon's downfall in quality of I've observed as a client in recent months. I will not be returning as long as Tamed is under the current ownership. Not worth it, unfortunately. A loss to the community. read more

After all these reviews I was so excited to try Tamed. I booked hair and makeup for my bridal shower today and can't even begin to imagine that they allow someone to pay for this. The girl walked in at 11 (my appointment time) and started doing my makeup. She didn't ask me my skin type or anything that an MUA normally would, I showed her a photo of what I was going for and she just started putting mismatched foundation on me. The pictures will tell you the rest (note the lack of foundation on my upper lip) but I couldn't imagine staying to get my hair done at that point, I paid and left. I looked at my statement later only to realize that Eliza had tipped herself...GIRL I told you I wasn't happy, paid for the service and you had the audacity to give yourself a tip? I called and they refunded half the money but they wasted my time and I ended up doing my own face which looked one million times better. I don't know how they allow her to say she's a make up artist in their shop. read more

First, this is not our first time coming to Tamed Wicker Park, I have brought my daughter to this salon and I have always left happy and satisfied especially with Victoria McCarroll. But this is the first for this bad service from Key Anderson. I made an appointment for a blow out with xtra time(75min) for long hair at 11:15am with Key Anderson for my daughter. We came in 11:15am and she is working on another client (barely starting to section off her hair hair for silk press services) and she notifies me thats shes running late. I ask her how late, she responds 30minutes. We waited for her to finish for 43 minutes!!! I needed to be out of there @ 12:30pm to be at hotel for 1pm appointment makeup/hair team for my daughter's Quinceañera. This is unacceptable. We were late for my daughter's onsite makeup/hair stylist appointment at 1pm. I had to pay a for being late since the team had a wedding booking after my daughter. Key Anderson needs to be trained on how she cannot be running more than 10min late! And she needs to be more empathetic and understand there are timelines clients need to be at other appointments. She didn't notify me earlier so I can plan accordingly. When I voiced that was really unacceptable she got an attitude and refused service. My daughter even begged her on her special day. But nope. Please ask Jad what happened, he will tell you I did not raise my voice and even his client ask Jad to finish quickly so Jad could start service with my daughter. Jad's client was more understanding and professional to our predicament in regards to our issue with time. Key Anderson didnt know how to handle a previous client that arrived extremely late so I ended up paying for a lack of time management of other folks, one being a professional in this field. In any profession, constructive criticism is key in providing excellent service. She just didnt like that i voiced that I was not happy on situation she caused us, was she expecting me to be happy? But luckily Stylist Jad was a decent human being and stepped in as the professional he is and saved the day. Never again with Key Anderson. read more

I came here a few weeks ago before a wedding and had a misunderstanding about my appointment time. I felt terrible about it and was grateful they let me have a dry styling since I was late. Mind you, I was extremely apologetic and openly appreciative that they would still style my hair. However, if I had known it would have meant that the receptionist would be STARING at me the entire appointment with a dirty look and then looking back at the stylist and laughing at me, I would have just left. I felt like I was in middle school and two girls were talking behind my back. The stylist didn't say a word to me the entire appointment. I literally left in tears. They made me feel horrible. I absolutely hated how my hair came out but I didn't feel like I could speak up because they made me feel so bad about being late. I even gave a really big tip because of how guilty I felt. I can't stop thinking about they made me feel. If it was such a burden to still see me, they shouldn't have let me stay for a dry styling. read more

Came into town for my brother's wedding and was able to get an appointment same day for my mom and I get our makeup done. The girl that did our makeup was awesome! She explained each step and product she was using. She also would check with me if I liked how it was turning out and if I wanted to add or change anything. DO NOT BOOK A MORNING APPOINTMENT if your in a hurry or have other things to do with this stylist. I went here on Friday to get my hair done for my gender reveal which was on Saturday. I booked my appointment for 7am because I had a nail appt at 10am. I get to the shop at 7 and my hairstylist Victoria was not there, one of the other stylist advised me that she was running late and she'll be in shortly, I waited an hour and a half and she still wasn't there I left. Victoria calls me we schedule for Sat the day of my gender reveal at 7am, Knowing you messed up the first time you would think she would be on time nope I got there at 7am and Victoria was not there, waited 15 mins still wasn't there, WTF!! She calls me right before I get on the highway I needed my hair done so I went back she did do a good job on my hair. It was just the unprofessionalism and not even acknowledging the lateness that Is just bad for business and I definitely will not recommend this place. I didn't receive a discount and I tipped her still, I definitely REGRET going here I should've booked with my previous hairstylist even though she is an hour away. My first experience there was great I was so happy I booked an appointment for my next event there. The lady who took me greeted me by saying do you have an appointment ? I said yes. After that I waited 45/50 mins and she didn't even tell me how long it was going to be. I was running so late and I was so frustrated. I should have just left. My hair fell and it wasn't what I wanted I'm pretty sure I could of done a better job. Such a disappointment.
