Sisig (made in a healthier version)
Alyssa D.

This was such a diamond of a spot in the Reading terminal! Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of my chicken adobo that I ordered, but it was a massive helping, and there was no way I could finish it in one sitting (I'm a 5'1 female about 140lbs for reference). The portions here are fantastic! The sisig was pretty good! We spoke to the owner and she said that it's her healthy version of it. My boyfriend is Filipino, so he told me that it does not usually have bell peppers in it but he still enjoyed it. I tried it as well and also really liked it. Whenever I come back, Tita totally will get my business again!

Do you need Filipino Food in Philly?!?! Yea you do! This place has some of the best garlic rice I have ever had. And the customer service is great overall it wasn't the best Filipino food I have had but it was good! The owner and service is amazing and I will be back. That's enough said!!! Go check them out!!!

Longsilog

I heard about this Filipino place in Reading Terminal from my brother and I looked it up. From the reviews, this is one of the best Filipino food in Philadelphia. It was my first time in Reading Terminal so we searched and searched until we found it. They have countertop service and they placed Filipino placemats (made of abaca or raffia) in front of us for an authentic experience. We ordered a longsilog and ube fries. We weren't expecting the longsilog to be so big! I loved the garlic rice and the side salad. And it came with two eggs! The ube fries were good but I didn't like the Parmesan cheese on top. The employees were nice and had a nice conversation with Ilyana. The ambiance is inside a food hall so it was hard to get an authentic Filipino feel but I grew up in a Filipino household so I've had that experience already. I'm just here for the Filipino food since I rarely have it myself.

Más namit ang food! Nice to see Filipino food in Philadelphia. They had the breakfast, lunch, Filipino classics.

Tambayan is a Filipino spot tucked in the back of Reading Terminal Market near the restrooms. I only tried the halo-halo, so I can't speak for the full menu, but it was definitely on the overly sweet side -- even for a dessert that's supposed to be sweet. At $14, it felt a bit overpriced, definitely leaning into tourist trap territory. Service was moderately quick considering how many people were in line, and the steamed buns in the front display looked fresh and inviting. My partner, who's familiar with Filipino food, said the halo-halo was pretty authentic, just a little too sweet for his taste too. There's limited seating -- mostly standing spots up front -- and unfortunately, you do catch occasional whiffs from the nearby bathrooms, especially on warmer days. I'd come back to try the savory dishes, but I'd skip the dessert next time.

Shrimp pancit

This place caught my eye when I walked in. I love Filipino food so I was excited to pick it up for take out. I ordered lumpia which came with rice and wanted to order the ube fries but they were out :/ I got the pancit instead with shrimp. The lumpia is pretty good! Filled with meat and veggies. I like the sweet sauce that came with it. The pancit however was disappointing. It was soggy with too much sauce. I also got four shrimp (which were good btw) and a pound of noodles and veggies. The flavors really didn't hit for me either. Worth trying again but maybe just for he appetizers

This is you there storefront Tambayan, located in the back corner of Reading Market Terminal. I'm visiting Philadelphia for 2 days and this food was both ethnic and excellent. I ordered Embutido which is a pork meatloaf log with rice and a wonderful smokey sauce that has no spicy heat but lots of hot pepper flavor somehow. 10/10 would recommend to Filipinos and anyone who wants to try a yummy new ethnic niche.n #Embutido

first time to tambayan and the food didnt really look presentable my girlfriend wanted to buy a shirt for dad but the tees were overpriced the service was not bad and the ambiance was a stall inside the reading terminal market!

Ube Fries

Tambayan is located inside the reading terminal market and perhaps the only Filipino spot inside there. Offering both great breakfast and lunch options they offer a variety of meat and vegetarian options. For you to try authentic Filipino food. I had to try their ube fries which were popular. They looked different than normal fries but tasted more like sweet potato fries. They have about a dozen seats for you to sit at if you don't want to take it to go. Service was friendly and fast definitely a great place to eat lunch.

When we got to town, we headed over to Reading Market and were so excited to find a Filipino restaurant stall! We were lucky enough to meet the owner, who was there that morning, and she was super nice and friendly. We ordered LongSilog and TapSilog, and the mango drink we had was super fresh. The seating was great -- you could either sit at the high-top or grab a table with chairs just behind it. Having Filipino food while we're on vacation is always a must for us, and this spot did not disappoint!

I've eaten food from Tambayan before but this was the first fine sitting down and eating here. It was easy to find seats at their bar. Everyone there was very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious and came out quickly. We ordered the lumpia and chicken adobe. The lumpia was crispy and filled with pork and veggies. One order came with 3 pieces. The chicken adobe was something new for me to try. The chicken was very tender and flavorful and came with a side of rice. The ice tea drink was fun, with a green jelly at the bottom. I would have wanted it with less ice next time. Next time you're in Reading Terminal, definitely stop by for Filipino food.

Pretty legit fresh lumpia and pan de sal. Worth going to for a Filipino meal, even though you have to navigate getting to Reading terminal.

Everything was delicious and flavorful. The only thing I didn't love was the noodles, which were a bit mushy, but still tasty overall. The place itself is small and cozy, with a nice relaxed vibe. We went on a weekday, so it wasn't too busy, which made it even more enjoyable. Service was great too! Even though there was only one person handling everything, they were friendly and attentive. They also have some Filipino treats you can grab to go, which is a fun bonus. Overall, a really nice experience and I'd definitely come back again to try more dishes!

But if you arrive around noon, you'll most likely need to wait for a table. The menu is quite vast but we wanted to try the signature Filipino dishes, lechon, sisig, lumpiang, and their sausages. Everything was amazing! The lechon was super crispy and it came with 2 dipping sauces that helped cut through the grease. The sisig was my favorite, especially the raw egg mixed in. It went so well with the garlic rice! You definitely have to eat it with rice as it was quite greasy. The lumpiang shanghai was also excellent with bits of pork, onions and carrots. Wish it came with more than 6! Service was great, friendly staff. Bathroom is clean. I did notice the tables were a bit on the sticky side though. Overall, great experience with great tasting food.

Went for one of their Kamayan nights…read more Interesting concept and certainly fun to try with friends - as long as you don't mind family style sharing and getting a little messy. A little pricy for what it was ~$70 per person after tax and tip All of the proteins were very well cooked - fish was flaky and moist, the chicken was extreme tender. And the lumpia and pork belly were both crispy and well seasoned. All the sauces were extremely delicious Only downside was the balance - far too much rice in relation to the amount of vegetable curry and protein and neither of these were particularly flavorful The interior was also pretty small although service was attentive If they improved a little on the flavor of their carbs and curry base and provided a little more value for the cost I think this would have been a knockout meal

It's not a bad thing. Just very nondescript. It's a small place but I love what they did with this concept. It's unique and I wish them much success!! This is a set Kayamanan menu. No substitutions or accommodations. The food is plentiful and delicious. The garlic rice has a nice rich flavor. The vegetables are in a coconut milk sauce. It's flavorful but a little too heavy for my liking. The chicken was probably my favorite then the pompano fish. The chicken skin was crispy and the meat was moist. The fish was cooked perfectly. Crispy skin and flaky fish. The pork belly!! Not really my thing but it was on the meatier side than expected. Loved it!!! The highlight for me was the lumpia. I never had it before but now I need this in my life! Is this the best out there? I have no idea but they are now on my list of favorite things!!!! Due to my allergies I couldn't have the dessert, which is a chocolate and nut thing. The server was so gracious and brought me one of the pre-dinner sweet rolls. Then a coconut gelatin dessert. It was totally unnecessary but greatly appreciated!!

Went with a group of about 7 or 8 and it was very difficult to get seating. The time you walk through the door, order your food, and to receive it will take quite a while. By 11:30 on Saturday, they have to stop people from walking in and wait outside until the line inside shortened. For anyone looking for the most authentic Filipino food, this is not the place. With that said, the food is still good. It has a Filipino flare, with a modern, for the masses, feel. Would try the place, but not frequently.
