Combination dish suggested by the owner gentleman.

Excellent and flavorful! I have never had to eat Indian food at any restaurant because I can usually get home cooking from my friends. Plus I am like to have meat in my food. I was delightfully surprised that their food was satisfying and tasty.

I've always wanted to try this place out and experience the street food experience! First thing.....whenever I think of Indian food. I think of exotic decor. Well to my surprise it was nice clean modern decore. Pleasantly surprised! So when I think of street food I think of traditional Indian dishes made in various ways, and in smaller portions. I am a creature of habit and normally order my favs. I ordered the "Dosa-Mysore Masal & Saag Paneer" The Dosa -Mysore Masala was perfect! The crepe was perfectly cooked, and crispy. And the potato stuffed seasoning was so tasty. Just the right spices.! Well, for the Saag Paneer.. I can understand they made there version of the dish, but it just didn't have any flavor to it. I am used to slow cooked cream spinach with whole Paneer pieces rather than chopped up. Everything else was fine the rice and small salad. Well ...that's "Street Food" for you. In honesty I will definitely go back for the Masala Dosa..it's that good! But will definitely try other street food dishes!

This is a hidden gem on Military Circle! I really appreciate Tamarind for tasty and authentic food. You order at the register and pay, then it is brought to your table or taken to go. This is a great place to stop by for lunch. The ambiance is relaxed and homey. The pani puri is a great appetizer, and the sauces provide a blast of flavor. The meat thali was great to share. So much flavor packed in. We got medium spicy. I do wish it was a bit spicier for a medium, but it still tasted delicious. The dessert with the meat thali as not too sweet. Thank you for the delicious meal! Will be back! PS There is an awesome market right next door with many Indian groceries. Convenient!

Samosa chaat

I had a taste for Indian food. So off to Tamarind i went. When i entered i was greeted by the friendly staff. The restaurant was clean and had plenty of seating. They also have outdoor seating. They have a good amount of options on their menu. I got the samosa chaat which had samosas, chickpeas in a tasty tomato sauce, cilantro, onions, and yogurt. I asked for heavy yogurt but they forgot to put any on top. So i went back in and they fixed it. I am glad i did because it wouldn't have been the same without the yogurt. All the different flavors came together and tickled my taste buds in the best way. It was a very flavorful dish. I highly recommend it. I like hummus but am not a fan of whole chickpeas but these were delicious!! I also got mint chutney on the side and that was good also. I highly recommend this dish... Check them out!!!

I've been here twice with my family. Both times have been delightful and we've left completely satisfied. This time we tried the samosa chaat and the chole puri. We love chickpeas and both dishes were spot on what we were craving. The samosa chaat (chopped samosa covered in channa, yogurt dressing, and tamarind) was like two dishes in one. This will be a favorite from now on. The puri is a puffed soft bread that is airy and yummy with a side of channa. I love the sprinkle of onions and the robust flavor of the chickpeas and so did my little one. We also got a masala chai, which was my first time trying it. I felt the spices were underwhelming and probably won't get it again. But glad I finally tried it. Overall, I love the Indian fusion cuisine served here and the clean, fresh vibe from the interior. Will definitely be returning again and again!

Food Standouts: Puri Puri Puffs: Fun puffs that we stuffed with the potato/chickpea mixture. Had never had these before and they were good! Garlic Naan: So good! A little thicker than I'm used too but one of the best I have had. Samosas- Very good! They were freshly made and delicious. Okay: Butter Chicken- This wasn't my favorite. I am used to more of a tomato flavor. It was still good, and my husband liked it. The chaat (can't quite remember the name) but it had potatoes, chickpeas and then taramind sauce and yogurt over the "chips". My husband said it reminded him of an Indian Nachos. It was good and had a good flavor, just something I wouldn't order again. Service is you order at the counter and wait then for your food to be delivered. The girl taking the orders at the counter was extremely sweet. She also made sure we got to-go boxes and extra sauces when we couldn't finish all of our food. Also really nice is that they have a water filter system so you can get all the water you need!

Great food. Friendly Staff. I come here anytime I'm in the area. It's about a 25 min drive for me but is one of my go-to spots.

This place is the real thing. The only thing I don't live is their naan. Try the veggie thali. It's like a sampler.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the best Indian food I've ever had! I've eaten my fair…read moreshare of Indian food in several states and Canada and this was the best, most authentic food I've had. We arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't completely full but that soon changed with several families coming in right after us. The restaurant is on the smaller side, clean and decorated well. We went on a Saturday night and ordered off of their special weekend menu. We definitely over ordered. There were 3 of us and we had enough leftovers for a full meal the next day. We ordered the masala cheese dosai, butter chicken, nalli gosht biryani and malai lamb chops. The nalli gosht is the goat shank biryani, we got the order for 2 people, it comes with 2 goat shanks on a mountain of fluffy fragrant basmati rice. The goat was tender falling off the bone, seasoned to perfection in a spicy masala paste/sauce. We got it at level one spice but it tasted spicer. We didn't mind because the spice just added to the flavor. It was so good! We also got the usual butter chicken which turned out to be not so usual because like everything else we tried, the spice combo and depth of flavor just turned it up several notches. The masala cheese dosai was a great start to the meal and was fun to eat with our hands. The lamb chops were a last minute addition and so worth it. The chops were cooked perfectly in a flavorful sauce and served with a veggie slaw. Overall, we LOVED everything we tried and would definitely recommend Biryani Hub. The only suggestion we have would be to serve cold water or offer ice. Our waiter brought a bottle of water to the table with glasses but the water was more room temp. Other than that, it was a great experience.

Biryani Hub Delivers a Flavorful Introduction to Authentic Indian Cuisine…read more I finally made my way to Biryani Hub for lunch, conveniently located at 5745 Virginia Beach Boulevard, tucked just behind the Waffle House. For weekday diners, the restaurant offers a smart selection of combination platters--an ideal entry point for anyone looking to explore a range of traditional Indian dishes in a single sitting. I chose the Chicken Platter ($15), which features three distinct preparations, two generously sized pieces of naan, and a dessert to round out the meal. It's a well-structured offering that balances variety with portion size. The standout was the Chicken Dum (bone-in), prepared in the traditional dum style--slow-cooked and sealed to lock in flavor. The result is deeply aromatic, rich, and layered in a way that feels unmistakably royal. This is not rushed food; it's deliberate, composed, and worthy of the word "luxury." Equally impressive was the Special Chicken (boneless)--tender pieces marinated in a proprietary blend of spices, then cooked with fragrant basmati rice in layered fashion. Each bite carried trapped aromas that unfolded gradually, delivering both depth and balance without overwhelming the palate. One detail worth noting: the clearly defined spice scale (1-7). I selected level 4, labeled "Indian Mild." While approachable, it still carried a noticeable heat--enough to remind you that you're experiencing authentic seasoning rather than a toned-down version. Too often, restaurants rely on heat for its own sake--spice without structure. That's not the case here. At Biryani Hub, the heat is deliberate, built into layered flavor profiles that are difficult to fully describe and far better experienced firsthand. What stood out most was the depth of flavor across the board. Each dish brought its own identity, with spices working in harmony rather than competing for attention. For those already familiar with Indian cuisine--or anyone curious to step into it--Biryani Hub is a worthwhile stop. It's the kind of place that rewards exploration while supporting a local business doing things the right way.

Good food, good portion sizes!…read more The naan bread & butter chicken are very good. Highly recommend! The restaurant is very pretty and cozy!

My daughter has been telling me she wanted to go out for Indian food, so we decided to give Saffron…read morea try. She and I were immediately seated, but our server took a while to come over despite it not being very busy. After leaving us with menus, it was a while before he returned. By the time he came to ask us what we wanted to drink, we had already decided on our appetizers and meals. Our food came out in a timely manner. It was hot...both in temp and spice! For an appetizer, we ordered the Grand Sampler (nothing on it was spicy). It came with fried fish, chicken bites, and 2 jumbo shrimp with a small serving of tamarind sauce and mint chutney sauce. The fish with the tamarind was % on point! That sauce actually went well with everything. The mint chutney lacked flavor. For dinner, we ordered tikka masala and butter chicken, both which came with basmati rice. When ordering, we were asked about our preferred spice level, 1-5. We said 3, thinking it would be a safe choice...but we were mistaken. Our mouths were on fire ! Don't get me wrong, the flavor was poppin', especially the butter chicken, but both dishes were very spicy. The one thing our server did do well was keep our glasses filled with water. We definitely needed it! For dessert, we shared the Gulab Jamun, 2 donut holes soaked in a light syrup. It wasn't our favorite, but it was cool to try something new. My daughter and I will definitely be back to check out some other menu items...but we will not be ordering level 3 spice! Overall it was a good experience. Great vibe, soft lighting, window seating, and friendly staff...my only real complaint would be our server's attention (outside of refilling our water). We were done with our food and sitting for some time before we asked another server for to-go containers, which she brought over immediately. I had to ask for the check.
