I saw a guy waving a sign for Tamales Mireya outside a grocery store, and since tamales are one of my favorites, my wife and I decided to give it a try. We arrived around 7:15 and there was a good crowd, which is always a good sign. It's a medium size food truck. The guy taking our order (I didn't catch his name) had amazing customer service and was super helpful. My wife got two tamales de pollo with salsa verde preparados (loaded with cheese and sour cream), and I had the green chicken and red pork preparados. Our order came out quickly, and they even threw in a piña tamale for us, plus a small sample of their horchata oaxaqueña such a nice touch! For corn husk tamales, they were pretty good. I would prefer a little more protein. The masa wasn't dry tho and def had fluff and flavor Chicken with green sauce 3/5 adequate amount of chicken, not super moist but had a teensy bit of bite to it Cheese and jalepeno 4/5 this or mole is my fav. The cheese is quite chewy, jalepeno they used had a slight kick and this comes with a red sauce steamed inside. Not as gooey as others, but still enjoyable Chicken mole oaxaqueño 4/5 most unique of the bunch! The mole had a slight sweetness, but it kept things interesting. Horchata 4/5 It comes with walnuts, dragonfruit, drizzle of honey, and coconut as that's how they traditionally serve it. I really enjoyed the milkiness of this, but felt the honey wasn't necessary. Green salsa 3/5 It added to the tamale, but nothing out of the ordinary. Parking Street /neighborhood parking only. Had to circle around a bit even at 8pm on a weekday. Service 5/5 Incredibly warm. I've been craving tamales and haven't been able to find a good spot/go-to that's also affordable. I'm so happy I finally crossed paths with this truck! The tamales range from $3 (corn husk) to $3.75 (banana leaves), and you can get chicken, pork, cheese and peppers, or black mole. I got one of everything to try, and I was perfectly content with each one of them. I got green sauce with the chicken, and the pork came with red sauce. The red sauce had a decent kick to it that I felt more in my stomach than when I was eating it, but so worth it. The tamales were soft and very moist, perfect texture. The black mole was wrapped in banana leaves and it left an aromatic flavor, very similar to certain Vietnamese snacks. I think my favorite had to be the cheese and peppers though, had a great spice to it and was delicious. My partner really enjoyed the chicken ones as well. Service was great and fast. The guy taking my order was very nice and helpful; I sometimes feel out of place, but he was super welcoming. I also scored an extra dulce tamale with pineapple and it was tasty - not too sweet which I appreciated. Some seating available, and there's a counter. These tamales were incredible! I ordered the chicken and beef, and even though I had to wait a bit since they had sold out, it was totally worth it. While I waited, I tried a queso tamale, and it was absolutely amazing, full of flavor and perfectly moist (not dry at all!). They tasted like they came straight out of my Abuela's kitchen, so comforting and full of authentic homemade flavor. You can really taste the love and care in every bite. Very easy to find. There was a gentleman standing on the corner of Buaro and Harbor with a sign, so you can not miss it. Just follow the arrow and they are parked down the road a little. I found parking at the residential area. There was a line at 9ish am. Some people were purchasing bags of the tamales. I saw a lady bring her own pitcher for purchasing a drink. Smart. I was warmly greeted by another gentleman at the window. He was very friendly and informative in explaining the type of tamales. He also informed me that only tamales were available at the time. My goal for the morning was just tamales, so win win. He patiently explained the method of prolonging the quality and taste of the tamales such as freezer vs. fridge. I appreciated that very much. You don't get that kind of customer service often or at all. So thank you! I didn't want to go overboard and purchased 5 banana leaf chicken and 5 chicken tamales. You have a choice of mild (green) or spicy (red) salsa. I hope they'll always be at this location because the tamales (both types) are heavenly delicious. I was never a fan of tamales because for me it was dry and flavorless. Only until I found this place that I'd realize I've been eating bad tamales all my life . These are so moist and so flavorful. I was only looking for a tamales place because my husband need to bring some to work but I'm so glad to have found this place.
