Tamale Factory in Gresham, I wish I could say different but I have to be honest This is the worst place I have ever been too they screwed up everything and the health inspector needs to pay a visit there, I had 2 groupons for the 5 star ratings on this place, The first I used they were getting ready to close and the food was old and NASTY so I gave them a second chance on their stars and they blew it worse, the food was bad and half of what I ordered they were out of at noon, so needless to say I didn't get what I ordered, I gave them 2 hours for my order to be ready and no one called me to say hey buddy we don't have but half of the food you wanted so I at least could change my mind and cancel so I had to get something else so my groupon didn't go to waste. I have since then decided to not use there services again and I am telling all my friends of the nasty food they serve. Tamale factory or Groupon is a bad combo all the way round. read more

So excited when this restaurant came to Sandy, but I have experienced 3 times when I have dropped in or called in an order, and they have not been ready to serve or are out of a product. If you still have 1 1/2 hours before closing, you should still make sure you have rice available. Made me cancel my whole order and move on. Sorry~!! read more

These tamales are SO good. I buy a bunch at a time, so I can have leftovers. The dog starts smacking his lips the moment he smells them, and looks at me piteously hoping for scraps. One time, I bought a half dozen for lunch/dinner the next day, and put them in the fridge before I went to run some errands. When I came back, the dog had opened the fridge door, and cleaned me out of tamales. He was licking the last of the flavor from one of several corn husks scattered on the floor. I was really mad because it was after 7:00 and too late to get any more. My faves are the bean and cheese, spinach and mushroom, pork, chicken, beef and the zucchini corn. Actually, I guess that is all of them. They are moist, nice filling:masa ratio and delicious! My go-to when I don't want to cook. read more

Be sure to go on a sunny day or be prepared to take your food home. They have a few tables out front of the shop to eat at but nothing inside if the weather is not that good. The tamales were great. Very flavorful and they reheated tremendously well. Be sure to get some of their house made salsa to top of your tamales while you are there. read more

These are delicious, but be aware that the tamales that appear to be vegan or vegetarian are not. We thought they were, since they are not made with lard, but have recently discovered that the masa does contain chicken stock. So sad. We will very much miss these tamales and the very delicious salsa that accompanies them. We hope that these nice folks will consider changing to a vegetarian masa so that we can come back! read more

The tamales here were scrumptious. My favorite was the jalepeño and cheese one. The pork was also yummy. The rice was standard mexican fare, though I felt the refried beans did not have much flavor. I would definitely get some tamales again from here when in the area. read more

Definitely worth the stop. Found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. They only serve tamales but they are homemade and authentic. It's a small old service station on the corner which is the perfect place to eat. I tried the chicken and pork but they offer several varieties of vegetarian tamales as well. read more

My favorite restaurant in Gresham. Sometimes the rice can be a little hard, but everything else I've had has been spot on - the tamales are huge, and the chips and salsa and and beans are tops. I make chilequiles the next day! read more

First attempt they had us waiting in line for 20 minutes before they told us they were sold out. Second time they were sold out of rice and beans and chicken filled tamales. So we thought they must be really good if they keep selling out. WRONG.. they were mostly masa very little filling. We tried the jalapeno & cheese filled, and also the pork filled. I had driven by this place so many times on my way back to Portland from Mt. Hood, and never stopped. Today, my partner and I were on our way up to the mountain, and hadn't eaten anything yet. We decided today was the day! The place is in an old service station, and has some character. They had at least 3 meat choices, I had the pork in green sauce, and three vegetarian options as well. Pretty sure the staff is family, and the young woman helping us was really nice. Partner had the jalapeno and cheese, and devoured them. The masa was nice and fluffy, and very flavorful and the filling-to-masa ratio was good. I will definitely be back! Great food to take to go, too, as they would be an awesome mid-hike snack! Oh yeah, ask for the house made hot sauce; it's pretty tasty. read more

Gresham is a food desert for visitors like me so my mouth watered when I saw the sign "Tamale Factory." I am usually mixed on Tamales in general but these were fresh and moist! I had the spinach mushroom so I love that they had a no meat/no cheese option. The cilantro rice was a bonus! I will be back when I visit in a few months! Thank you Tamale Factory! I was going to wait to eat lunch after I left town. I am sure there are local gems that I haven't found but this was my first on town! Seems like a good idea for parties! read more

I had been meaning to get there for a very long time. Last week I actually drove by but unfortunately they had just closed. So it's a burning desire and tamale brain I actually made it yesterday. Ya hoo for me I was thrilled to meet the people in this family operation. Plus I simply did not have to cook dinner now that's worth 5 stars alone. I give their tamales thumbs up we loved all of them. I personally liked the jalapeno but my husband preferred the pork. Two tamales each we were more than full the rice was delicious and the very day that they packed to go was awesome. Was told I didn't pay for for few tamales when it was listed on the recipe and I had paid for it- showed the lady at which pt she was rude about it. Came in another time after placing a take out order at 12:00 was told it would be ready at 12:10 showed up in time- then order wasn't ready till 12:30. The tamales at the Tamale Factory are delicious! I love that they freeze well because they are quick to grab for an easy lunch at work. I made some tamales for a recent party and everyone loved them. Good fast food! $15 for 6 tamales , rice , beans and 4 drinks is a great deal! The just opened and just ram out of beef and pork tamales. A good value for a good tamale. Great flavor with quality ingredients, though a little on the dry side. We love the pork tamales with green sauce. The chicken tamales lacked flavor. Yummy spicy jalapeno and cheese tamales. Did not care for the spinach mushroom tamales which were in our order by mistake. The fresh salsa is super yummy with a fire roasted flavor! Yummy beans and cilantro rice, though portions are on the small side. Service gets 5 stars! read more

Love love LOVE this place and so glad it is in Gresham. I grew up in Arizona, lived in Texas next door to a Hispanic family that made tamales from scratch, so I know a good tamale when I taste one--and these are good. Best to start with one of each to get an idea of what is available and what suits your taste. At $1 each, how wrong can you go? Oddly, the veggie jalapeno tamale was my favorite. When they ask if you want salsa, say "YES, please!" since it is super delicious. The only thing lacking is a dessert tamale--hint hint! read more
