Frozen, but good, fries in the "beef basket" combo benefit from Tally-Ho's dark, beefy gravy
    James K.

Still love this place - family run, greasy spoon burger-dive vibe, yummy sandwiches, solid-but-not-great fries really benefit from yummy beefy gravy, and is a nice change from typical fast food and preservative-laden processed garbage, like those "eat fresh" (hahahahaha!!) criminals. :) TIP: Ask them to add swiss cheese and horseradish to your roast beef sandwich (it's real, not a fake 'horsey sauce'). And 100% yes, get gravy on the fries. I see funny complaints below, that a $10 combo is too expensive (have you bought a combo at McDorks or Substandard-way lately??) Or that they prefer their beef more juicy and seasoned, "Would your highness like some yorkshire pudding and mulled wine with his 'special' prime rib, for $10?" lol Tally Ho deserves our support, especially when trashy fake-chicken chemical subs, and bland cardboard pizza with dipping sauce, is selling like hotcakes all over Ontario. And don't even get me started on day-old factory donuts that are frozen, shipped, and later reheated in-store with "double-doubles" and icy sugar-slushies, lol. We need more Tally-Ho joints, and fewer soul-less franchises slinging processed garbage. It's a better-than-fast-food, mom-and-pop joint, that is basic, and unpretentious, and they do what they do very well. Just go. Enjoy!

    Chicken souvlaki pita

I've been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember, my father has been a patron since he was around my age and it's the one place we always stop at if driving through Hamilton. The place itself is a decent size with some booths and some regular tables, large windows and pretty decent restrooms. The food, while not fast food does have some pre-cooked elements such as the roast beef which is made fresh daily. The beef baskets are great if it's something you like and the gravy is pretty good too although I'm not a big fan of it as I don't really like roast beef. The chicken souvlaki pita is one of my favourite dishes, the chicken is cooked over a charcoal flame and is amazing. My absolute favourite dish though is the Greek salad, the dressing is fantastic and they will add as much or as little of the salad items as you want. The staff are great as well, they know us well enough now that they don't even have to ask us our order. They're always happy and will talk to you as they work. At times they run slow but they do get really busy.

I'm not quiet into this beef sandwich. Beef seems a little bland for me. I prefer beef more juicy. But this restaurant closes very late, so it's still a good place to fill a hungry stomach at late night.

    Best fries you'll ever have!

My parents long time favourite restaurant where they came over thirty years ago. I started coming here with my McMaster alumni parents which helped me make my decision when it came time to pick my university. Great food, fast, friendly, high quality and good for if you want some fast food.

I thought my GPS was leading me astray - again! - when it took me through a downtown-y residential area with older, two-storey houses. However, when I saw the pack of cars parked on the side of the street, I knew something good MUST be around. :) As you enter, there's a counter with breads behind it and cash register. And on the other side, is where some magical stuff happens, i.e. the hot table. I hesitate even writing this here, but the prices are AH-MAZING. Chicken Parm sandwich sm for $5, lg for $6?? AND since they ran out of large buns, they gave me 2 smaller ones for $6?? WHA...I'm not good at math, but isn't that like B1G1! I really hope that the owners can't decode my shorthand. Anyway, I didn't even explore the back room and that's where, apparently have cold cut sandwiches...which are also supposed to be good. Sandwich comes on one of the buns they bake on-site, your choice of spicy or mild tomato-based sauces, fried onions, and like 2 pieces of nicely seasoned Chicken parmesan. So delicious that you don't care if you're outside, sitting on the curb, eating it with sauce and onions dripping all over your shirt. Looking like a complete schlameel. Check this place out! P.S. SHHH...and don't tell too many people about it.

As a family owned Portuguese bakery, they serve their signature sub-sandwiches: turkey, Black Forest ham, prosciutto, veggie, all but the kitchen sink. Not only are their buns freshly baked in house - they taste amazing and most sandwiches are only $3. What a deal! They also serve other lunchtime dishes like lasagna and soup but their sandwiches are to kill for - think Black Friday or Boxing Day frenzy. It's that good. They also have freshly baked goodies but it's first come first serve. Come with a few bucks and leave with a huge lunch. Pro tip: the Black Forest ham sandwich is superb.

Good price of $9.00 and they also had the Francesinha sandwich with fries and a fried soft partly runny egg on top but was $25.00 which had thin sliced ham, chorizo sausage and bifana , It was very good but a bit pricey and small in size compared to the European version. My biggest issue is reliability. I've placed orders ahead of time, only to arrive and be told they aren't ready until much later than promised. It makes it very difficult to plan your day when a "guaranteed" pickup time isn't honoured. To make matters worse, the customer service is disappointing. When I tried to politely voice my concerns on their Facebook page, I wasn't met with an apology or a solution--they simply blocked me. It's pretty unprofessional to silence feedback rather than address the underlying service issues. Pros: * Beautiful shop and great atmosphere. Cons: * Unreliable: Orders are rarely ready when promised. * Payment Restrictions: They don't accept debit or credit, which is a huge inconvenience in this day and age. * Poor Communication: Unwilling to handle customer feedback online. Overall, while the bakery looks the part, the lack of professionalism and the "cash only" hurdle make it hard to recommend. I'll likely be taking my business elsewhere

This small shop located in Leslieville serves up some great sandwiches in a space that is primarily take out only (although there are a few bar/counter spots if you'd like to eat there. You're also able to add on ingredients on top of the already selected ones in the sandwiches. Each of Lambo's Deli locations also have a special sandwich, where this time when I went, it was the crispy chicken club. They also have soft serve as well (rotating flavours!). I stopped by Lambo's Deli on a Monday morning before the lunch rush and opted to grab: - Italian trio sandwich (soppressata, mortadella, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, picked red onion, arugula, pesto, Calabrian chili spread) - $18 - Soft serve (flavour was hojicha) -$5 Service was friendly and I received my soft serve while waiting for my sandwich to be prepared. It took about 5 min and it was nicely packed. Staff were great and handed me a handful of napkins as well. I ate my sandwich an hour later and before opening the packaging, the sandwich was pretty heavy! Looking at a cross section of the sandwich, it was packed with ingredients! The Italian Trio sandwich was delicious. The roasted red peppers, pickled red onion, arugula, and Calabrian chili spread added freshness to the sandwich which didn't make it feel so heavy with all the deli meats inside as well as the mozzarella cheese. The sandwiches are big and I could only finish half for lunch. Overall, a delicious sandwich shop in Leslieville. Lambo's Deli definitely packs a lot of ingredients in their sandwiches which make for a tasty meal. Be warned, the sandwiches are huge! Also...don't miss out on their soft serve too!

I was excited to try their panuozzo since this is what I mostly ate when we went to Italy. Crudo's Mortadella Panuozzo rival those panuozzo we tried in Italy. We ordered the Mortadella panuozzo and A'Patata and Americana pizza to try. I really love and enjoyed the panuozzo! The combination of the crusty bread, savoury mortadella with the sweet, nutty creaminess of the pistachio paste and richness of the stracciatella translates beautifully into a perfect, gourmet and comforting sandwich. It will transport you straight to Rome. The potato pizza is one of the most surprisingly delicious pizzas you'll ever try. You can tell they're using top quality ingredients judging by how the pizza was fresh and flavourful. The crispy crust topped with creamy mozzarella (fior di latte) and chunks of soft roasted potatoes perfectly complements the salty and savoury ham (prosciutto cotto). And to cap off a great meal, we ordered the Cafe Cream using Kimbo coffee. This dessert is rich and velvety - the perfect sweet finish to a rich meal. I highly recommend this place to any food enthusiast.
