How could you ever say anything bad about a bar in DC that has non-happy hour $6 tall boy prices??? Additionally, they have $2 snacks which include everything you'd ever want to find in a vending machine (pretzels, Pringle's, Oreos, Doritos, etc.). They also have a solid lineup of food, which really just consists of grilled cheeses and wings, but why would you want anything else while drinking a cold PBR? The grilled cheeses are the best, in my opinion, because they are innovative and not just bread and cheese. The one I had, had pastrami, Russian dressing, and sauerkraut, in addition to the cheese. I also got the wings with the Memphis rub and I have to say that there is plenty of room for improvement here. The wings were perfectly fried and super crunchy, but the rub seemed almost non existent, so it was like eating plain wings, but they were still actually pretty good. I will be sure to try one of the sauces, like buffalo or general tsos next time, and the many more times after that, that I end up here. read more

We walked over just in time to get the last available table for our party of 5. We ordered several drinks from the happy hour menu and wings to share. We tried 3 types of wings and each was delicious. Cooked perfectly and a nice portion size for the price. We had 3 or 4 rounds of drinks and never waited more than 2 minutes each time. I love pickles in any form and get fried pickles whenever they're available at any bar/restaurant. After trying TallBoy's pickle chips, I can confidently say they're the best fried pickles I've ever had. The dill in the breading of the pickle chips adds such a great dimension to them *chef's kiss*. Other than the pickle chips, the service has always been phenomenal. Lorraine is the manager/hostess/server/waitress and so incredibly hospitable. She deserves 10/5 stars for everything she does. Seating for this spring/summer is cute and functional. Expanded seating to the street means a fun time under a colorful rainbow tent series. The sheds were great for winter because they had built-in heat lamps but they also function as shaded seating for warmer weather. read more

I love this new addition. TallBoy is now our regular weekend day drinking spot when we want a low key bar to grab a beer, relax, and watch a soccer match or whatever game is on. They have a pretty good beer selection (tall boys, cans, and draft) and the can of the week is always excellent. This week it is Two Evil's Gose. All the wings are delicious but the lemon pepper wings are particularly killer. Love Tallboy - great bar to enjoy a tallboy and a grill cheese! Throughout COVID, it has also become my go-to spot for ordering chicken wings. I've tried a ton of different flavors - the dry rub lemon pepper wings are truly the standout for me, though the General Tso wings are great if you are looking for something saucy. Got an order of Lemon Pepper and Old Bay Wings. The wings were solid. I would give them a 7/10. Personally I think the size of the wings were just too tiny for me. The flavor and taste were good but if you only going to eat these wings you're going to need to double up on the order to become full. The taste was consistent but nothing special about these wings. I cannot RAVE enough about Tallboys!! This is the first bar/restaurant outing I've been to in DC since the shutdown March 2020 and it went beyond expectations!! The outdoor seating felt super safe, my partner and I were able to adequately distance from our friends while sheltered from other patrons in the frame and stayed warm under the heat lamp!! (See photo of the set up) not only was the arrangement perfect, but the service was incredible!!! Lorraine, the general manager, and Nick, a bartender in training, were SO incredibly friendly and welcoming. We ordered some grilled cheese sandwiches (which were delicious and a generous serving, not something half assed)!! Our group hit it off with the two of them and will absolutely be coming back as regular customers to see them again. If you're ever walking by, stop for a drink and snack. I've never had to pay for my food before receiving it. But more frustrating is that I had to tip my server before I even saw them. (We had to order using a QR code on the table). This place is a hell of a lot better than what used to be here. Tallboys is a small bar that specializes in grilled cheese and tallboy cans of beer. There are maybe ten four person tables and a bar with eh ten or so seats. In addition, there are a handful of seats outside. There are card games on some of the tables in case you're bored of your friends or on a crappy date. The grilled cheese was pretty bomb. Has a few options. Comes with chips and a side of tomato soup for dipping. If you're a picky eater then I doubt this is the watering hole for you. Also, killer happy hour. The grilled cheese options are so much fun and it comes with a little cup of tomato soup and chips which is a perfect combination. The beers come in a fun variety.
