Great local brewery offering a wide variety of brews, as well as cocktails and mocktails! The food is creative and unique and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming!

I enjoyed my long awaited visit to Talking Cursive! Super friendly and helpful staff from walking in to leaving. Went for a galentines event and enjoyed trying their specials as well as a beer flight. The food was tasty enough to warrant another trip back and they have many items that I would love to try. Their beers were okay, and their food was decent. Rating based on what we tried while there but I think i need to come back and assess a second time! Good spot with nice seating and not too loud even when full.

So a friend sent me an Instagram post with espresso martini and dessert pairings...Um yeah! I added a few more friends, made the reservation and we waited in excitement. A few of us went early to grab a light bite beforehand. Immediately greeted with pleasant people full of smiles and seated. Our reserved table for the event opened early and we took the option to move till finished with our meals. The naan pizzas looked great and one of us enjoyed every last bite of one. The rest of us went with the wedge salad. Not your average wedge at all the lettuce was formed in a layered bowl with just the right amount of small chopped bacon, tomato, red onion, creamy and chunky blue so big I took half for lunch the next day. On to the event wow! Each martini carefully crafted, smooth flavors, and beautifully matched to its dessert pairing. Carrot cake the best I ever had light fluffy creamy slight tang frosting with cake flavors of carrot and walnut smoothly blended into the tender moist cake. Following this was a Dubai flavored moist pistachio cake with chocolate edging that melted in your mouth. Last but certainly not least the decadent not too sweet deep chocolate cake. Just writing this I want more. All this in a comfortable atmosphere, relaxing decor. soft lighting and a large front window to let natural light in. I'm watching for the next event but I'm definitely going again for one of their martinis. Desserts are not a menu staple fyi.

Earl Grey Cocktail

I have been to Talking Cursive a few times since they originally opened, and I have to say I was really impressed at this past visit. I ordered an Earl Grey cocktail as just fantastic, had great flavor and they were not skimpy with the alcohol which to be honest is hard to find both flavor and quality in a mixed drink in syracuse. Service was kind, and the vibes were good. Although I didn't get food this time I am looking forward to trying something next time.

Cool little brewery with outdoor seating. My husband and I came and got a couple of flights. The beer was good. They have a limited food menu, but the naan pizza is quite good. When we were here there was a large party that was very loud and made it a bit hard to hear. If you're looking for someplace quiet and intimate, this is not the place. I would stop here again, it just wouldn't be my first choice.

Stopped in for a quick drink. The girls at the bar were super friendly. Definitely get the flight ($12).

My husband and I decided to go to talking cursive on a random Saturday. We haven't been in a while and they've really stepped up their food and drink options. My husband got a beer flight. I'm not a beer person so I got a cocktail with strawberries, basil and bourbon and it was delicious! We also ordered pretzels and a Korean BBQ mac and cheese bowl. Both were excellent!

Came here on a Friday evening around 8pm for some drinks and dinner and place was popping. We ordered bacon wrapped pickles, pretzel, Shepard's pie, burger with side of mac and cheese, a flight of beers and some full pours after. All the food was great and on point. The beer was pretty good too that we each had 2 full pours after. Bartenders were great, quick, and friendly even though there were quite a few groups. Too bad we were only visiting as the Club Cursive is pretty appealing and seems well worth the membership!

I was impressed with the food here. We came during the day to celebrate a birthday and the staff were very accommodating. They have a bunch of brews and cocktail options. We tried their jalapeño naan pizza and the special pickle pizza. Both were so good! I do wish the raspberry drizzle was a bit more pronounced on the jalapeño pizza to give it that contrast, but again I was pleasantly surprised. Perfect sharing size for 2 people. My friend's baked Brie and pretzel with beer cheese were also delicious.

Salad and Blueberry Sour

I've just come home from another wonderful meal at Talking Cursive Brewing company. Our group had a special beer pairing menu with 3 courses. We got to choose our first drink as we socialized, I love sours so I had their Blueberry Coffee cake sour, delicious, light but fruity and not too sweet. We started with an amazing mixed greens salad, topped with strawberries, avocado, red onion, pistachios and goat cheese balls rolled in crushed pistachios with a sweet balsamic dressing. I could have eaten this full size. We had 3 sliders, rodeo burger, mushroom swiss burger and the pub pretzel burger. All delicious, each paired with tastings of beer. Our dessert was a delicious blueberry ice cream with fresh blueberries, blueberry syrup, crumble topping and whipped cream paired with a sweet coffee liqueur. Service was great and the food was excellent.

Nice spot for beer and a meal in downtown Syracuse. Staff is friendly and service is very fast. The beer flights are nice and there's a good variety of beers. My favorite was the rhubarb pie one, it was tart but still really pleasant. I ate the seasonal Mac and cheese, which was a nice portion. I liked the bacon and crispy onion. Not the sauciest Mac and cheese, but it's still a nice option to pair with the beer. They have a nice variety of food options, including the naan pizzas, and the seasonal food options are fun. Seems like a family friendly spot as there were several groups with young kids. I just wish there were TVs with some sports games on, but this may be because I was really wanting to watch college game day at the time I was there haha.

Muffins with cinnamon butter

Finally got a chance to attend one of their Pop-Up brunches that they try to do on a Sunday once a month. Normally they are closed on Sundays. I'm sort of a beer snob, but they have great beer! I opted for a mimosa flight since it was brunch. They had some different flavors that I haven't seen elsewhere, but they were average mimosas. I thought it was nice that they brought complimentary mini muffins with cinnamon butter to the table. Reminded me of a bread basket at dinner. My only complaint was I would've loved more. I easily could have eaten all of them! The sweet potato and sausage hash was definitely drool-worthy and the cheesy potatoes brought me back to my childhood (even for this lactose intolerant girl ). Definitely check their Facebook page to see when their next pop up brunch is and make a reservation early!

Great food, excellent drinks, top notch staff. They host brunches pretty frequently now and knock it out of the park. I love that they not only make great beers (so I am told by my beer drinking friends) but they consistently make some of my favorite cocktails in town. The cocktail list changes seasonally, is always pretty extensive, and always a hit. The owners/management here really know what they're doing!

Beer Flight: "Bobby Fans Are People Too" (2) and "Sweet Potato Brown" (3) were excellent!

TL;DR: Highly recommended. Will definitely repeat…read more **Ambiance** Charming and spacious microbrewery with a great selection of beers. Now they also have a food truck on premise. Clean and uncluttered floor space with square wooden picnic tables, which are custom-built to gather around good beer with good company. **Staff & Service** I have been to this place multiple times, and every time, the bar staff has been super friendly and helpful. **Beer** They have a rotation selection of draft beers. Additional beers are also available in cans. The thing that sets them apart is that they offer a choice of up to 6 beer flights (pic attached). So you can really explore what you like. We were a party of four and each got a flight of 6 and we pretty much sampled the entire menu! It was a lot of fun! My all-time favorite at their location is the DDH IPA (called DDH Lies) **Food** I have been coming here before the food truck was coming here, and I am really enjoying the convenience of the food truck at this location. The sliders were my favorite. But the mac & cheese was the surprise for me. It was unexpectedly delicious. **Overall** It was a wonderful experience. There is something unique about drinking beer right from its source, and Willow Rock hits the spot. Highly recommended.

Beer: there were a lot of sour beers and hazy IPAs but only 3 other beers (including 1 cider)…read morebesides those. However, the lager had great flavor! Food: mediocre. The "Burger of the Three Rings" was perfectly cooked temp wise (ordered medium) but the onion rings on top were the standard variety that were greasy and made the whole thing subpar. I opted for a $2 upgrade for sweet potato fries and they had cinnamon/sugar on top (unnecessary in my opinion as a side for a burger). They had standard pub fare that focused on either wraps, 3 burgers, 3 flatbreads, or fried food...not bad; just lacking options with any sort of complexity. I went around noon on a sat, and the server (Erin) was very friendly and attentive. I will go again next time I am in this area to hopefully up my opinion.

Very disappointing experience tonight at Bullfinch Brewpub in Destiny USA…read more Let's start with the food. It took approximately 45 minutes for our meals to arrive, despite the restaurant being maybe 20% full. To make matters worse, we watched our food sit in the open kitchen window for roughly 10 minutes before anyone bothered to bring it to our table. When my burger finally arrived, the bacon was practically raw, and the burger itself was dry as hell. After waiting that long, you would at least expect a decent meal. The service wasn't much better. Throughout our wait, we went extended periods with empty drinks and little attention. We were drinking water and soda, not alcohol, and it certainly felt like keeping those drinks filled wasn't much of a priority. Now, let's talk about Dave, the owner, who was actually on-site tonight. Watching him struggle with something as basic as seating customers was almost comical. Dave, your restaurant was approximately 20% full. You shouldn't have to stand there looking around the dining room trying to figure out where to seat the next party based on which server is up in the rotation. This is Restaurant Management 101. I will give credit where it's due. Our server recognized how painfully slow the kitchen was and, without us even asking, requested a credit on our bill. That saved us $12, and I genuinely appreciate her taking the initiative to acknowledge the poor experience. But here's what really bothers me. When a server has to request a credit because the kitchen can't get food out in a reasonable amount of time, shouldn't that raise a red flag for the owner? Especially when he's physically in the restaurant? You would think Dave would take 30 seconds to walk over, acknowledge the issue, apologize, and make some effort to improve a customer's impression of his business. Instead, nothing. A $12 credit doesn't fix poor food, painfully slow kitchen operations, or a lack of management involvement. I understand restaurants have bad nights, but when your dining room is mostly empty, your food takes 45 minutes, drinks sit empty, and the owner is standing right there, it's hard to make excuses.

Stopped in to Red Hawk Brewing the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. We called first to see if…read morethey had any outdoor seating (they do) because it was such a beautiful night. But when we arrived, we were the only people in the place, and the interior space was so great (gorgeous tables and wood working with game boards on all the tables and cool posters and antiques decorating the walls), we decided to stay inside and do flights instead of take individual glasses outside. We were really glad we did. This brewery is 100% focused on Belgian style beers. There were three of us in our party, we opted for 2 full flights, which allow you to taste all of the beers on tap - close to 4 oz pours of each - for $19. They lay out the order for tasting so you can build up from the less robust to the more robust flavor-wise, and there are snacks including cheeses, crackers and nuts on the counter to go along with them. We found the owners to be friendly, knowledgeable and really interesting; they walked us through the brewing process for each beer, along with how to sip/taste (take five sips to fully taste the flavors) and what to expect "over time". For example, one of the beers was described as "pre-natal" and we were told it would develop richer flavor as it ages. They were very receptive to our questions and we felt like we had a good conversation. Something we probably would not have been able to experience if the place was packed; and something we really appreciated because we did not feel rushed, even though we ended up closing the place down and in fact over-stayed (they close at 9 pm - we left at 9:25 pm) because we decided at the last minute to take home two 64-oz growlers of our faves (which they patiently filled for us....) We all agreed this would be a great place to go back to throughout a season to see how the beers mature. Speaking of seasons and brewing processes, we also loved that their menu of on-tap beers will slightly change with the seasons, and how almost 100% of their ingredients (from hops to barley to fruits and spices) are sourced locally - as in from the Onondaga hill area! This is a great place for a stop on your brewery tour of central NY, or even as a destination to hang out for a while and try new things. Would highly recommend and look forward to going back!

The couple who run the place are delightful. The negative reviews are hilariously wrong. The house style seems to be sour based on the brews my son ordered. I hope to come here again and again. Like a neighborhood bar without the screens and with much better products.
