They are the flagship chain of TJX Companies; strangely, they operate as sister stores with Marshalls, which I do frequent, & both chains generally stock similar items (men's, women's, & children's apparel, shoes, & accessories; bath & beauty products; jewelry & other accessories; housewares, kitchen & home products) of those found at major department store except theirs is generally discounted. I don't believe the Rolling Hills Estates location is a higher volume store; those store may have a high-end designer department called The Runway. And it's also unexpected to find a discount department store in the affluent hills. During this school year (2023 - 2024), my son's Cantonese class has doubled the students so I've been hanging out with other parents shootin' the breeze, takin' a coffee/tea break, walking (to get some exercise in), & window shopping (sometimes actually buying stuff). The store opens pretty early, at 9:30 AM, for a Saturday morning so we usually have it pretty much to ourselves when we're browsing here. Their inventory is comparable to Marshalls, & I've gotten some great deals. What's impressive about this location is their luxury inventory... some unexpected finds include: Mackage (I knew it was a thing but haven't heard of them & needed to look them up; they're a Canadian prestigious luxury outwear clothing brand), Fendi, TOTEME (Stockholm-based label exploring the appeal of the modern uniform with meticulous craftsmanship, methodic repetition, & distinct design cues). They even carry one of my fav brands: Life is Good; an American apparel & accessories lifestyle brand known for its optimistic t-shirts that often feature Jake, a smiling stick figure. I love their pjs... so comfy & cozy. The store is organized & well-stocked, probably because we're here first thing in the morning. Can't imagine what it would be like mid-day since there's only a skeleton crew in the mornings, I'm sure they'll increase the staff during the busier shopping hours. My friend found a couple pairs of designed shades in the locked display case, & it took awhile to find someone, then another staff member to open the case. While she was mulling over which to purchase, both were great deals, I/she felt rushed into making a decision. And for security purposes (understandably), she couldn't hold onto them & he brought her glasses to the cashier even though the registers are the next row over. The staff is friendly & welcoming on our Saturday mornings, & any purchases are processed quickly. Though lots of change, it was nice to see Regal Promenade still here. This movie theatre was my go- to movie theatre a few years back and I have found memories of this spacious (not crowded) theatre. Overall, I was happy to visit the new Promenade PV. It's nice to see this outdoor area gaining more popularity and it's so refreshing to see the new restaurants and events they have here.

It is no longer a shopping center (a lot of empty storefronts), but more a community space for Palos Verdes, with a large number of restaurants, a bunch of sporting and gaming facilities, and medical businesses, including a large UCLA health clinic. We came a week before Thanksgiving, and a beautiful Christmas tree was up, providing some good picture opportunities.

Parking can get pretty busy if you try to get close by at rush times but there is plenty of it and it's free. Between the mall directly across the street versus this center, Peninsula Shopping Center has done a good job of attracting businesses and it's much better than the mall. That said, the mall is improving and they can complement each other. I rarely have to go off the hill which I appreciate.

Bought a knife block from Target as a birthday gift. Opened it after a trip and realized it wasn't…read morethe brand on the box. It was a mishandled return with a rusty, used, and completely different knife set inside. We went to exchange it 17 days after purchase, which is well within Target's 90-day return policy. The San Pedro store denied the return because of a price discrepancy...a discrepancy that was their mistake when they placed the returned item they never zeroed out back on the floor in the wrong price slot. We were sold a tampered product for the wrong price, then blamed for trying to return it. Instead of fixing it immediately, like any company would do, we were passed between Guest Relations, Asset Protection, and store staff who all seemed confused and inconsistent. One employee told us to wait at Starbucks for a manager. Another insisted the decision was final. No one seemed to know what the actual policy was or how to handle it. We were made to feel like we were pulling some elaborate scam over a $99 exchange caused entirely by their own error. After more than an hour of waiting and escalating through multiple departments, including Twitter and BBB, a manager named Kenneth finally processed the return. He was calm and professional, the only person who seemed to have a grasp on the situation. That said, he appeared to be wearing glasses equipped with a small embedded camera. Some kind of discreet recording device, from the looks of it. There was no explanation, no disclosure, and the whole thing felt quietly unsettling. Even when someone finally did the right thing, there was still something off about how it all played out. Target didn't just mishandle a return. They failed at every level of customer care. If they pull out all the stops to make returning a $99 knife block this difficult, would you trust them with any major purchase? Probably not. Unlike other major retailers who handle simple returns with no questions asked, Target's response was a corporate shrug followed by "we'll pass it along," as if that counts for resolution.
