Mean on the outside but probably because they deal with a lot of annoying Chapel Hill kids, me included. Talked to them a bit more and they are actually pretty down to earth. They explained to me how they take good care of the cars they tow and make sure they don't mess them up. My car was towed by this company and when we picked it up, the front tires were damaged. We had to replace the tires the next day. When I called, they were very unprofessional and denied that there was a possibility that they did the damage during the towing process. When you call their number, there is not even a professional voicemail message and the owner is very rude and dismissive stating how long he's been in the business as if it is an excuse. I would never recommend this company. read more

87 year old grandmother was in a bad accident, the trooper would not let us use her AAA to call for the tow and called this company. The tow truck driver was rude and told us not to get anything out of the vehicle we would have to come tot he tow yard to do so. I see why now! The car was totaled, they wanted us to bring them the title and pay $300 for them to keep it the same day and would charge $300 each additional day it was there for storage fees! We to the yard to see the vehicle and speak with them, the were very rude and confrontational but one of us went to the vehicle to see they had already cleaned everything out of it. This place is a complete rip off and should not be in business. There is nothing professional about them. read more

My son was in his 1st auto accident last Friday, and chapel hill police contacted these people to tow his car. Now it's Monday and Gill Day said the fee to get his medication and tag off of the car is $833, and said that he would add an additional $850 per day. Yes, per day. He refused to give me a paper bill and was extremely combative, to the point I called 911. I'm almost 50 years old and I've never experienced anything like this. We went there with title in hand to sign it over, and what should have been a relatively easy transaction is now a nightmare. I also called chapel hill police to let them know what was going on and to prevent anyone else from having to go through this; get them removed from their officers list of towing options. The internet says they are permanently closed for business, but the police department said, "if they answer their phone" there is nothing that they can do. If you are in the chapel hill area and find yourself in a similar situation, tell the police officer to call anyone but these people. There isn't ANY regulations that by law need to be followed. They can do what they want. Now I have to figure out how to navigate getting the license plate returned properly to DMV. TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!!!! read more

Predatory towing at its best. Apparently it's "not their job" to know the law when towing a car with a handicapped placard from a handicapped spot. Said it would be $220 and then upped it to $260 once we got there. Repeatedly called my husband an mf'er over the phone. Beyond annoyed, but trying to remain the calm one, they proceeded to call me "sweety" when I got there. I'm 46 years old, handicapped, you tow me from a legal space and want to call me sweety?!? Beyond creepy employees with horrible attitudes. The private lot owner is reimbursing me, but this tow company should be shut down. 1. Illegal tow from a legal spot. 2. Illegally said they would only take cash. 3. Wrote my receipt with a ballpoint pen on the trunk of someone else's BMW. read more

Easily the worst customer service I have ever received. I called tonight in need of two cars being towed from my spaces and the man was abrupt and cold. When I had not received a call for an hour and my car still had nowhere to park, I went outside to discover that the strangers' cars had moved. Trying to be considerate to the tow truck drivers, I called again to cancel the tows and the same man hung up on me. I will be contacting my apartment complex and having this company removed from our parking lot. read more

I'm honestly appalled by the treatment I received from Talbert's. I am a college student whose car was towed out of my own parking spot in my own apartment with my permit in my car. When I called them to figure out what the issue was, they repeatedly told me that I would not be able to get my money back. Their reasoning was that because my permit was sitting on my dashboard (not hanging on my mirror because it kept falling) they had the right to tow me. They gave me a "deal," as they said, and only made me pay for half (still $100 to get my car that they wrongly towed). When I went to retrieve my car, they made me pay $100 in cash (NC towing ordinances require that towing companies accept debit cards). A man met me at the gate and would not let me even see my car until I gave him the money. After I gave him the cash, I went to my car--at which point it was too late to get my money back--and I saw that my permit was on the dashboard. This company is predicated on pandering college students, some of whom did nothing wrong, and their entire method of operation is corrupt. I wouldn't recommend this company to a stray dog. read more

I got my car towed and I was not a fan of their customer service. Very short over the phone, not offering helpful information. Got to the lot, after I introduced myself they just said "money." I got into the car by myself (college girl when it's dark outside) and he came over and waved down the window and told me why he towed me and started talking, I was clearly uncomfortable and the cigarette he was smoking was making my car stink. Irresponsible driver. This towing company tailgated my minivan for a mile through a construction zone laying on the horn waking up my sleeping infant at 1:25am. They endangered my family. This person has no business as a commercial driver. I wish I could have taken down his license number but he drove too fast around me to even take a picture. I got my car towed by Talbert's and their customer service was absolutely horrendous. They're ridiculously rude and their responses are clipped, to say the least. They only accept cash which I'm pretty sure isn't even legal so if you bring a debit/credit card you'll be out of luck. Upon calling this company they said it would be $145 cash to get my car today and when I showed up they bumped it up to $150 for no reason. I, not wanting to be murdered by these chainsaw massacre-esque men, did not protest. I would rather pay $500 to get teeth pulled than to come back to this tow yard. read more

Had them tow my non-starting car from work to the local garage. They were economical, friendly, and easy to work with.

Great tow. Reasonable price. Dropped it off at the dealer for me and gave him instructions. I didn't even have to go a long. After about 2 weeks, i forgot to get a receipt and they still wrote me one out. Honest tow company. read more
