The service was great, and the restaurant itself was really pretty and had such a nice atmosphere. We all got the mango frozen cocktails, and they were AMAZING; so refreshing, and honestly the perfect pairing with the food. Everyone in our group ordered something different, and everything we tried was so good. I got the Thai vermicelli, and it was absolutely delicious! I also got to try some of my friends' dishes, and everything was flavorful and really well done. I'm usually pretty nitpicky when it comes to coconut curry sauces, but it was so perfectly balanced and flavorful. It was easily some of the best Thai food I've had in the DMV (honestly!). No complaints whatsoever. I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in the area! :)

The khao soi had good flavor, and it came with rice. The chicken wings were for my son, he said they were the best wings he's ever had. The beef curry had good flavor, but the beef was a bit overcooked. Service was a little bit of a miss. When the waiter first came, he asked us for our food order. However, we wanted to order drinks first. I was able to order my cocktail, however, the waiter left before anyone else at my table could speak to order a beverage. Food came out very quickly. This is not the type of place where you would want to enjoy drinks and food over a period of time. However, if you are super hungry, your food will definitely get to you quickly. Restaurant was crowded, but not super loud. Overall, I would come back for the food, I just wish that I could have more time to enjoy my restaurant experience.

We came in for lunch, and the Panang curry and mango sticky rice were both fantastic and packed with flavor. Our server, I believe Server S (what was on the receipt), was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and very charming. The overall ambience was just fun and lively. Later in the day, we looked at other restaurants for dinner, but nothing else on the street looked appetizing or had good reviews. We easily decided to head right back for round two! For our second meal, we tried the curry puffs, another curry, and the Larb salad. The Larb salad was an absolute standout-- it perfectly matched a nostalgic flavor from a favorite old restaurant of mine that no other place has ever been able to replicate until now!The entire staff was hilarious, engaging, and some even spoke Spanish. This is an amazing spot with incredible food and great energy. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!

The chicken satay was fried chicken with peanut sauce, definitely not authentic (chicken satay is usually grilled). Decent for what it was though. The khao soi's flavor was great, there were pieces of chicken which is also not authentic (usually has a chicken leg). The mango sticky rice was tasty though, rice was warm and chewy, mango was very little though. I originally asked for tom yum noodles with thick rice noodles (it usually comes with super thin noodles), and the kitchen "couldn't" do it. Yes you can, all you have to do is cook a different type of noodle and put it in, it's not that hard. I'm not sure what you "can't" do about it. Price was okay, decent for DC. Service kept reminded us probably at least 3 times throughout the meal that they're almost closing (at 9:30PM).

There's a dozen small tables inside with 4 tables outside. The food was prepared very fast within 10 minutes, fresh and pipping hot! Sadly, there are no lunch specials (the dishes are a little pricey at $18). The Pad Thai is hands-down the best with saucy rice noodles, topped with fresh scrambled egg, crunchy crushed peanuts, and airy fried tofu. The dish was very fresh and flavorful. Tofu is typically dense at most Thai restaurants, but surprisingly the tofu here seemed freshly fried and soft and tender. It was odd that I was given a large fork and spoon, but no chopsticks! I received a disposable pair upon request. The Panang Curry tasted authentic with a mid spicy kick (I requested for mild), which wasn't overpowering and served with a side of white sticky rice. There was a heap of cubed airy tofu. It would have been nice to have a bit more curry to balance out all of the tofu. I enjoyed the dish and made for great leftovers! Agree with fellow Yelpers, the Thai Iced Tea is the perfect dessert and not to be missed! It's sweet and helped to offset the spiciness of the curry. The touristy poster of authentic Thai favorite dishes actually delivers and not a tourist trap, quite the contrary! Great Thai restaurant by the Capital. Looking forward to coming back!

Delicious Curry...Just Wish There Was More of It!…read more After a weekend away, I wanted something good, warm, and comforting for dinner, so Thai food immediately came to mind. I've tried quite a few Thai spots around DC, but this was my first time ordering from TipThai. I went with the red curry with chicken, and it was REALLY delicious! The curry was flavorful, rich, and exactly the comfort meal I was looking for. I also love that they let you choose your spice level -- mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. I ordered mine hot, and it was perfect! Definitely had some heat, but not so much that it overpowered the flavor of the curry. My only real complaint was the portion size. The price was comparable to other Thai restaurants in the area, but the amount of food definitely wasn't. The portion was noticeably smaller than pretty much every other red curry I've ordered locally, which was disappointing considering the price. That said, the curry itself tasted so good that I'm definitely interested in trying some of their other menu items. I just worry that the smaller portions may be consistent across the menu. Overall, TipThai nailed the flavor and spice level -- I just need them to be a little more generous with the portions!

I stopped by during lunch time to take advantage of their lunch deal and ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien (eye round steak and meatball) bowl and the Lemongrass Beef Plate. Only the Pho Noodles will come with the spring roll for the lunch special, other specials only come with a drink. The spring roll it comes with is veggie with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. They have plenty of drinks to choose from I think it is nice they offer sparkling waters as well. Overall, service is very fast for both dine-in and take out. There is plenty of seating. I would come again to try their banh mi sandwiches.

I got takeout from 54 Noodles Bar and got the shrimp Pho with a few orders of veggie Spring rolls. The spring rolls are pretty standard and did not disappoint. The pho was neatly packaged - the noodles and the broth were in separate containers, ensuring that the noodles didn't get soggy. In separate containers there were also fresh herbs and veggies, as well as some chili sauce. The broth was extremely flavorful and everything tasted super fresh. I would highly recommend this place for anyone craving Vietnamese food on a cold (or hot) day!

The polenta could not be better, fluffy and light and sauced. The seasoning on the short rib is perfect in every bite. I had Famous Last Words for my drink, it was delicious. We were a little hungry The ONLY semi moderate gripe I can possibly think of is that the portions are a bit small. Love their spicy tray to add more sour or spice, for those looking for MORE flavor (already very tasty as is!) and that the path to the bathrooms is a bit narrow, but it was clean. Service was attentive but not overly so. I really liked this place, just wish it was more food . But I love to eat!! It's right off the Eastern Market metro so it could be quite convenient.
