This is a really cute and clean family owned restaurant and they immediately make you feel welcome upon entering. I ordered a Michelada and chilaquiles with Tacos El Pastor and Tacos Campechanos. Great food and great service! There's no fancy atmosphere or gimmicks, just really good food. They had a $15 for $30 deal on Yelp, so we gave it a shot, and I'm really glad we did. Homemade chips were definitely a highlight for us. They have a decent selection of Mexican bottle beers, and different types of fresh made juices/drinks. However my girlfriend was not impressed with their menudo, but I suppose that could be hit or miss. This is a small, nondescript place. We actually had to search for it but OMG it was so worth the search. The waitress recommended a dish to share that has steak, chicken, and shrimp with onions, peppers, and cactus in an incredibly flavorful broth with fresh cheese. All of this is served in a large mortar, that was so hot the broth boiled continously, with house made tortillas. We stuffed ourselves, yet brought home enough for a couple of generous burritos tomorrow. This isn't your typical Tex-mex joint, that's for sure. I'm no expert, but I think the menu is authentic Mexican dishes. I highly recommend you try this place. Come hungry! read more

I have been here twice already in the last month. The restaurant is off Mississippi and Peoria in a shopping strip. I was greeted by nice gals. Both times I took my food to go. I would like to go there and sit down to eat. This place is pretty spacious. The décor is very colorful and they play great music. Everything from bachatas, cumbias, and salsa's. I have always ordered their carne asada tacos (onions and cilantro), their rice is flavorful along with their refried frijoles. If you like salsa.. get the guacamole and the tomatillo.. Yummm!! My friend ordered the chorizo tacos and she loved them.I actually got her hooked on them and she lives in the area. I ordered their flan.. and they aren't the best when it comes to that. But I wont hold them up for (1) dessert item. Aurora does have plenty of places to eat. I would much rather head out on this side of town instead of Federal. Came here craving street tacos since moving from San Diego. I had 2 carne asada, 1 barbacoa, and a bean and cheese papusa. The papusa was very good, the green sauce served with the tacos was amazing. The meat in the tacos lacked flavor which was disappointing. My husband had carnitas and lingua tacos, he said the lingua was super good and tender and the carnitas lacked flavor. Sadly, this is probably the biggest Yelp letdown yet. Sketchy at best with frantic service, terrrrrible margaritas, mediocre food and just nothing memorable. I give them a star for fresh made tortillas and another for turning them into hot and crispy yummy chips. The rest, meh. So, we get there and a gal pops out of the bar area and seats us. It finally arrives midway through wife's marg. Tasty chips kept us occupied until food is brought out. Have to get back up to ask for silverware and napkins. Wife's gordita was soggy and impossible to eat. Carne was chopped into teeny tiny nubs and bland, carnitas was in weird slices and I wasn't even sure if I had the right meat. Both came with a side of green salsa that was again, meh. No finesse. Sides of rice and beans were decent, but even adding them to my tacos couldn't elevate the meal. I thought about complaining, maybe getting something else, but I just wanted out of there thanks to a large group that had arrived and corralled all the kids into one booth where they were screaming and jumping up and down. I wanted to really support this local business, but customer service was terrible. I gave it a chance, but Norma was terrible twice. First time, even though there's a big sign for 99 cent tacos on Monday through Thursday, it's false dealing with Norma. She said asada, al pastor and pollo were the only choices. I ordered those however the price on my bill didn't reflect that. Norma said, you need to tell me, the 99 cent tacos. Really? It's posted on a big sign on the building. Today I went in at 3:35pm, ordered a beer at 3:38pm, a 2nd at 3:58pm. A big sign outside states 2 for 1, until 4pm. I finished my meal and I was overcharged. Norma said, I needed to pay for my before 4pm. I asked to talk to a manager. She says, there's no manager, just an owner. I ask when are they in. She says, I don't know, they're the owner. There's all these unwritten added rules to these huge posted signs when it comes to dealing with Norma. What she does seems against the law. Maybe I should have called the police. read more
