Lo and behold, the tire was fixed about 4 hours later and I went on my merry way without pain, anxiety, or hefty bill. It was an amazing experience. Yesterday, the same thing happened and in a panic, I called again at around 4:30 knowing that they were going to close at 5. I talked to Keith again (my hero) and he calmed me down and explained that he didn't have my tire in stock and it might take until Friday (note: the other places I called didn't even share the time it would take to ship from a warehouse). I wanted to drive home to Cleveland on Thursday, but I trusted them and said that it was okay. I towed my car there and couldn't find the key drop slot. Even though they were closed for an hour or so by that time, Keith (again, my hero) came out to get the key. I went to work Thursday morning annoyed with my $10 morning uber ride and my delayed-to-Friday departure home. However, Tuffy called around 3pm and said they had my car done. I'm excited to say that I will be driving home after class tonight and will be reunited with my family at my originally planned time! I'm so thankful to Keith and his team for really prioritizing the customer experience and getting me back on the road ahead of schedule! TL;DR: Tuffy is a wonderful auto center that really cares about their customers. Keith is a superhero. If you want quick, quality work, I recommend this place over every other!

The biggest issue throughout this entire process was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism. My 2019 Kia Forte needed an engine replacement. My warranty company approved the claim, the replacement engine was sent to Tuffy, and I waited while they completed the repair. After everything I had already gone through with my car being down, I was finally told my vehicle was ready and picked it up believing the problem had been properly repaired and that my vehicle was safe and ready to drive. Less than 24 hours later, my car was having problems AGAIN. It was making a clanking noise, and I ended up having to get the vehicle TOWED right back to Tuffy. Considering they had just replaced my engine, of course I was concerned that something was wrong with the engine or the work that had just been completed. Having to tow a vehicle back to a repair shop less than 24 hours after getting it back from an ENGINE REPLACEMENT is ridiculous in itself. Then came the battery situation, which made this experience even worse. Tuffy put a new battery in my vehicle without properly communicating with me beforehand about the price or making sure I understood and agreed to that additional expense. I should not be finding out AFTER work is done what something is going to cost me. Customers deserve the opportunity to know the price and make a decision before additional parts are installed in their vehicle. When I made it clear that I did not want to pay for a battery that I was not properly informed about beforehand, I was told they could simply remove their new battery, put MY original battery back in my car, and I would not have to pay for theirs. Okay, fine. Except when I came back, I was then told that MY ORIGINAL BATTERY WAS GONE. The employee explained that my old battery had already been given away/returned, meaning they could no longer put MY battery back in my vehicle like they originally told me they would. How do you tell a customer that you can put their original property back into their vehicle and then get rid of that property before the situation is even resolved? Then, to make the situation even more frustrating, the lady with the piercings was struggling to remove Tuffy's battery from my vehicle and acting as though she did not know how to take it out. At that point, I was beyond irritated. This is an AUTO REPAIR SHOP. After everything I had already dealt with, watching an employee struggle with removing a battery from my vehicle while acting like she did not know how to do it was the final straw for me. There was already poor communication surrounding a MAJOR engine replacement. I received my car back only to have to get it towed back less than 24 hours later. Then a battery was installed without the cost being properly communicated to me beforehand. I was told my old battery could be put back in, only to arrive and find out they had already gotten rid of it. Then I had to stand there while an employee struggled to remove the battery they installed. That is not how you handle someone's vehicle, especially after they have trusted your business with something as major as an engine replacement. What bothered me the most was the lack of communication throughout this entire experience. When someone leaves their vehicle with a repair shop, especially for a major repair, they should not have to constantly wonder what is going on with their car, what is being done to it, or what they are going to be charged for. Communication should be BASIC customer service. I gave Tuffy multiple opportunities throughout this process to simply communicate with me and handle things professionally. Instead, one issue seemed to turn into another. I would NOT recommend this location based on my experience. I expected professionalism, transparency, proper communication, and care for my vehicle. Instead, this entire situation left me frustrated, inconvenienced, and completely disappointed with how this business operates. If you decide to bring your vehicle here, I strongly recommend getting EVERYTHING explained to you beforehand, including every repair, every additional part, and every charge, and making sure you know exactly what is happening with any parts being removed from your vehicle.

Very Long Story: First Visit (Diagnostic Only): We booked an appointment for 8:30 AM, but the email confirmation showed 12 PM. After chatting with an agent to confirm, we were told 8:30 AM was correct--already a red flag for poor coordination. We understood that diagnostics can take time, but we received no updates the entire day. We had to call them ourselves at 3 PM just to learn that the diagnostic was finished and they were preparing a quote. After waiting another 2 hours, we received a text-only estimate of $3,000. It was unprofessional--no itemized breakdown, no explanation, and no email follow-up. Because of the delay, we couldn't proceed with the repair that weekend. We were charged around $100 for the diagnostic, which we were willing to pay--but it was disappointing because we had planned to get the car repaired with them. According to AAA's promotion, the diagnostic should've been free with a repair, so we didn't expect the charge. That left us a bit upset. Second Visit - Actual Repair: Still, we decided to give AAA another chance. We dropped off the car on Thursday and clearly told them we would pick it up Friday at 9 AM. Even though they said the work would only take "a couple of hours," we gave them the entire day just to be safe and rented a car at our own expense. However, when we arrived at 10 AM on Friday, we were shocked to learn they had just started working on our car--even though we had a confirmed appointment with them. Went for an oil change and probably won't go back. First they didn't honor the coupon I showed…read morethem. It said 80.99 for a full synthetic oil change. The guy ended up saying my total would be 124 or something in that area . But then he gives me 15 off, still having to paying over 100 when the coupon clearly said 80.99. Next, the tech tells me not to ever go to valvoline again because they are known to mess your car up, okay I guess. 20 minutes after leaving the shop I had to go back as my check engine light comes on. I drive back to the shop, they look at it, messes with the air filter and tells me it shouldn't come back on. I then go to work, as I work evenings/nights. On my way home which was about 11pm, my check engine light comes back on. Very frustrating I must say. So now I have to cancel things I had going on the following morning to go back and get it looked at. I'm Assuming the manager was able to actually go in and check what the issue was and got me together. I can't remember his name maybe Carl or Corey. For some reason, something was nagging me to just take it to another shop. Nevertheless, I contacted Boyd's and scheduled appointment. During the call, I advised of the coupon and provided my make/model of my vehicle. If this coupon would not be honored - due to the type of oil - then I should have been told during that call. Upon arriving, the man at the counter was not trying to hear me and kept mansplaining that the coupon I needed to use was the one on the bottom, which would require an up charge due to my car not using conventional. He was NOT hearing me about wanting the other coupon, stating my car didn't take conventional oil.......it didn't take it for the other coupon either which is why I needed to do upcharge. I was okay with paying additional fee for the $44.95 coup; however, they were not honoring THEIR coupon and I would have to start at $79 for services on the $44.95 coupon. PERHAPS A BAIT AND SWITCH? Another man on the phone interjected to "just give it to her" and started looking a for way to ring it up. However, another man immediately came from the back area and started the same mansplaining, saying no to the other man's trying to find solution. As it turns out, Boyd's had correctly identified a problem which a body shop and the dealer later missed. I am most grateful to them. The front subframe was indeed rusted out. When some rust scale was removed, you could see a hole in the subframe, and it was clear that it was compromised in other areas as well. Boyd's is once again my go-to shop. I was reassured that the quality and honesty I have expected from them for over 25 years now continues.
