I am new to Texas and went to the one on 290 toward Manor for a state emission inspection. The technician squeezed my radiator hose and told me I needed a radiator flush and my radiator was "bone dry". If not, my emission would sense the low coolant and fail. What a poor attempt at bullshit !! I went down the street to Valvoline, no coolant or emission problem there. Stay away from this company. They train their techs to scam and cheat customers. --- --- --- --- Customer service describes scamming and cheating customers as they "fell short" of expectations. They invited me to call to learn more about what happened. Sounds like corporate double talk, means nothing to a wronged customer. Better idea is to read the customer's feedback and take action. read more

I don't like writing negative reviews but feel the need to for anyone looking around. I own 2 vehicles and have taken both to this location. Subaru - normal oil changes and top ups. Although, there are tool marks on my oil cap now and I cannot take it off anymore. Take 5 is the last place to have touched it several times. Jetta - coolant flush and oil change. 2 weeks later, radiator is cracked and it's burning oil quickly. Maybe the radiator was ready to give up, but the timing was unfortunate. I looked back, and they also put the wrong oil (0w20) in the Jetta (requires 5w30 or 5w40). I don't know if it was German quality spec either. I have low confidence in the quality of service here. For JUST oil changes you might be fine, especially with a simple car, but they charge a lot of money for service. I'll probably go to the automotive center across the street or jiffy lube from now on. read more

Came in for a simple oil change and ended up being talked into extra services I didn't plan on. When I got home, I found the coolant reservoir completely uncapped and fluid low -- a basic mistake that should never happen. I went back before they closed and they topped it off and put the cap back on, but leaving the cooling system open like that could've caused serious damage if I hadn't caught it. I am pretty upset about the service I received at this store on 09/07/2026. I felt cheated and underserved. Sam was supposed to be MOD who also happened to be the tech guy. He asked me if I am going to have the same service I did before which costed me around $170.00. I told him no and I stated that I will take the lower service charge and I saw his mood and demeanor change. Possibly commission work . One guy went down and another one poured the oil and that was it. 80% of the services mentioned were not done at all. When I asked about the services Sam the MANAGER ON DUTY told me that they no longer provide it as it is clearly posted on the service counter. His reply was that signs to cover or change the policy has been ordered and they have not received it yet. I KNOW THAT's A LIE. These little things that you all do is what separates you from the crowd. Even so, you should honor what you promised until you take the sign down. When I got home and saw the 15 service check list, 80% of it was not done. It was a Labor Day and no other customer was there to blame it on " Busy day". I will definitely dispute the charges with my Platinum AMX. I don't know if I will ever go back and for that you can thank Sam the MOD. read more

After paying 200$ for an oil and air filter change I noticed my truck sounding different, chocked it up to new air filters. Next day I look under the hood and 1out of 3 of my air box clasps are actually attached. I've been sucking in dirt and leaves in my engine for a day! 70$ for air filters is a stretch to say the least, one out of three clasps attached; that's about what I'd rate this place 1/3. I stopped by the location on Lake Creek Pkwy and 183 in Austin. I'm an Uber driver and needed an oil change before the start of SXSW. Besides my second marriage this was the biggest mistake of my life. I drive a 2023 KIA Soul and the tech put the wrong oil in my car. This wasn't discovered right away. Leaving Take 5 my car made a noise and died, just stopped running. My son helped me get it home and for 36 days it did not run. It would start, make a noise and die. After replacing parts, because I thought it was other things, a battery, a sensor. My neighbor who is a mechanic at UT made the wrong oil discovery. He changed my oil and it has ran perfectly. Take 5 took responsibility, they even have the tech on video putting the wrong oil in my car. Jaylen at the location told me the store would send a refund check for the oil change and claims would handle the rest. It is May 18. I have never received a check for the refund. I have sent receipts and proof of missed wages, everything they have asked for. Brandon in claims said he was assigned to help Dee in claims and it should be resolved in about a week. That was three weeks ago. Today Dee said she sent it to investigations and it will be at least five more days until they look at it. I missed 36 days of work. For 36 days I couldn't pay bills. I'm slowly catching up. I've been lied to and ignored and pushed to the next person on the ladder. I didn't want to make a post or a bad review but I feel like I have no other choice. Today my household lost three hours--and every shred of patience--because this shop can't keep the simplest promises: 1. No parts, no plan. My wife waited nearly an hour in line before anyone bothered to look at her car, they didn't even pop the hood, only to be told, "We don't have the parts for that oil change." No timeline, no suggestion, just go away. 2. Phantom appointment system. I booked a 6PM emissions test through Take5's own website. (I had made this apppintment over 24 hours in advance) Drove through Austin rush‑hour traffic, checked in, and was informed the tech who performs inspections "only works 10AM-3PM." When I asked why the system accepted a 6PM slot--or why no one called to cancel--the employee literally shrugged. Between two wasted trips and queue time, Take5 burned three hours of our Monday for zero service rendered. A quick recap for management (and anyone considering this location): * If you are out of stock of something, tell people before they wait in line for an hour. * If your emissions tech clocks out at 3PM, that should be noted online, or even better, appointments shouldn't be available after 2PM. * If a booked appointment becomes impossible, pick up a phone. It's 2025--automated texts exist. We came ready to give you money; you gave us nothing but lost time and attitude. Then told her vehicle would not pass the emissions test if she didn't get one - a flat out lie. I don't know what's happened to this place but my family is done with them. came in for a state emissions test at 2312 W Parmer on 3/21/26 and was told that I needed new coolant because it hasn't been changed in 12 years and that I probably wouldn't pass the inspection. (I noticed in the reviews that someone else had the same exact complaint as I did). I got the coolant in addition to the state inspection, but I didn't get a receipt. The printer "wasn't working" and the inspector assured me that it would be emailed to me. Nope. I already tried called the phone number 254-534-6933 several times; I'm switched over immediately to take a survey. Came here to get my car inspected and had Katherine as my inspector. A little bit of a wait but over all not bad. Katherine was very quick and thorough. You mainly stay in your car for most of it and I'm sure the price is pretty standard of $18 and some change. I thought they only did quick oil changes. Went here for the first time recently. An employee walked up to my car holding food and eating. He said nothing. I said I needed an oil change. He immediately told me they couldn't do it because they don't have an evac machine and that my car needs that. I'd never been told that before. I drove down the street to Firestone, who told me they absolutely don't need an evac machine to change oil, and they were much more friendly and professional. I actually started with a bad experience. I came on a Sunday and the service was a little slow but that's ok, it was busy and over 100 degrees out I can cut them a break on that. The issue was they had a problem with an aftermarket skid plate I have and with them running out of time they asked if I could come back. I did and they got it back on quickly the next day but it was not aligned properly. I was pissed and sent a comment on their contact us page. They called me back within an hour and when I came back a tech came right to my vehicle and started fixing it. He got it right quickly, we inspected it together and I am satisfied. I went a little later like maybe an hour or so before they closed so it was all young guys, which was probably my first mistake but anyway. They completely overcharged me which was fine I'll pay but like nothing was included a good oil change place that's charging you $100+ for a tiny ass economy car oil change should be offering something more than some rude little boys cussing and being unprofessional they don't offer to vacuum change windshield wiper fluid anythingggggg. I was asking questions before they even did it but I really needed my oil changed cause I was going out of town and it was already late.
