This would honestly be such a valuable experience for a new driver to better understand what is needed and why. I never felt pressured into extra services at all. I stopped by the location on Lake Creek Pkwy and 183 in Austin. I'm an Uber driver and needed an oil change before the start of SXSW. Besides my second marriage this was the biggest mistake of my life. I drive a 2023 KIA Soul and the tech put the wrong oil in my car. This wasn't discovered right away. Leaving Take 5 my car made a noise and died, just stopped running. My son helped me get it home and for 36 days it did not run. It would start, make a noise and die. After replacing parts, because I thought it was other things, a battery, a sensor. My neighbor who is a mechanic at UT made the wrong oil discovery. He changed my oil and it has ran perfectly. Take 5 took responsibility, they even have the tech on video putting the wrong oil in my car. Jaylen at the location told me the store would send a refund check for the oil change and claims would handle the rest. It is May 18. I have never received a check for the refund. I have sent receipts and proof of missed wages, everything they have asked for. Brandon in claims said he was assigned to help Dee in claims and it should be resolved in about a week. That was three weeks ago. Today Dee said she sent it to investigations and it will be at least five more days until they look at it. I missed 36 days of work. For 36 days I couldn't pay bills. I'm slowly catching up. I've been lied to and ignored and pushed to the next person on the ladder. I didn't want to make a post or a bad review but I feel like I have no other choice. When I got home, I found the coolant reservoir completely uncapped and fluid low -- a basic mistake that should never happen. I went back before they closed and they topped it off and put the cap back on, but leaving the cooling system open like that could've caused serious damage if I hadn't caught it. came in for a state emissions test at 2312 W Parmer on 3/21/26 and was told that I needed new coolant because it hasn't been changed in 12 years and that I probably wouldn't pass the inspection. (I noticed in the reviews that someone else had the same exact complaint as I did). I got the coolant in addition to the state inspection, but I didn't get a receipt. The printer "wasn't working" and the inspector assured me that it would be emailed to me. Nope. No timeline, no suggestion, just go away. 2. Phantom appointment system. I booked a 6PM emissions test through Take5's own website. (I had made this apppintment over 24 hours in advance) Drove through Austin rush‑hour traffic, checked in, and was informed the tech who performs inspections "only works 10AM-3PM." When I asked why the system accepted a 6PM slot--or why no one called to cancel--the employee literally shrugged. Between two wasted trips and queue time, Take5 burned three hours of our Monday for zero service rendered. A quick recap for management (and anyone considering this location): * If you are out of stock of something, tell people before they wait in line for an hour. * If your emissions tech clocks out at 3PM, that should be noted online, or even better, appointments shouldn't be available after 2PM. * If a booked appointment becomes impossible, pick up a phone. I am a very pissed individual. Went in to get my bmw serviced . Was in the area and wanted to try them out . When my car was done I drove off and my car hesitated and I couldn't figure out WHY?. Went here for the first time recently. An employee walked up to my car holding food and eating. He said nothing. I said I needed an oil change. He immediately told me they couldn't do it because they don't have an evac machine and that my car needs that. I'd never been told that before. I drove down the street to Firestone, who told me they absolutely don't need an evac machine to change oil, and they were much more friendly and professional. I actually started with a bad experience. I came on a Sunday and the service was a little slow but that's ok, it was busy and over 100 degrees out I can cut them a break on that. The issue was they had a problem with an aftermarket skid plate I have and with them running out of time they asked if I could come back. I did and they got it back on quickly the next day but it was not aligned properly. I was pissed and sent a comment on their contact us page. They called me back within an hour and when I came back a tech came right to my vehicle and started fixing it. He got it right quickly, we inspected it together and I am satisfied. I went a little later like maybe an hour or so before they closed so it was all young guys, which was probably my first mistake but anyway. They completely overcharged me which was fine I'll pay but like nothing was included a good oil change place that's charging you $100+ for a tiny ass economy car oil change should be offering something more than some rude little boys cussing and being unprofessional they don't offer to vacuum change windshield wiper fluid anythingggggg. I was asking questions before they even did it but I really needed my oil changed cause I was going out of town and it was already late. I was lucky enough to not go to Take 5 when it was super busy. I've driven by this location to see cars going way out, waiting for their turn. I waited outside the garage for around 5 minutes with a bottle of cold water the young attendant brought to me. They motioned me into a bay where I sat, for a long time, car off windows down in the 100+ degree heat. But I wasn't bored, the person in the truck next to me decided he needed to use his car phone to talk to whoever he was trying to talk to, and wanted air conditioning, so he rolled up his windows and turned on his truck... with no oil in it. Then because his windows were up, didn't hear everyone screaming for him to shut it off while they ran around with heavy absorbing towels to give to the poor guy under his truck. Finally, he angrily shut off his car. They lost stars because of my own eventual oil change. The guy helping me had to be new because he asked a lot of questions. But he was friendly. I'm parked next to the ginormous jugs of oil, most are not labeled anything but a few letters and a bunch of numbers. First, he showed me my dirty air filter and I agreed to have it changed. Then I heard him ask another tech about the type of oil. He whispered something to my tech and suddenly the only oils available to me were the super expensive ones for cars with over 100,000 miles on them. Now, instead of the $75 I was expecting to pay, I was paying $100 for the oil and $40ish for the filter. I needed to get back to work so I just took it. Then I watched my tech take a jug over to the giant containers and stand there looking at them lost. I heard someone call, 'Just choose one and go!' He choose one and poured it into my car. So now I'm not sure if my car even got the full synthetic it requires, let alone the $100 brand they made me choose. I'm honestly not sure I will ever be back. read more

First of all: we get there and it's a cold Saturday morning- and a cool young man approached us in the car bringing a bottle of cool refreshing water and tells us which line to go in and the approximate wait time- with a smile. There are 3 cars ahead of us so we settle for a 45 minute wait- and we slowly inch forward. We had asked about pricing and another young lady stops by to take a look at our engine, she shares some interesting information about our car, reccommends one type of oil change (yes we wanted sinthetic) and gives us the pricing ideas we had requested. She explains the process and how once we are at the front of the line more choices will be explained. Ok- we continue to inch forward and Joe it's our turn.,, Guess what! The ship is mostly run by women! These ladies keep the smile on, are efficient, they top off all fluids, check tire pressure while the oil is being changed, they explain clearly and answer questions, give us warranty information: they offer to top off fluids any time between services- nice touch, and then ... we are done! We pay and now with our new oil we are ready to go! WhAt a fun experience this was. Clearly detailed information, no nonsense pricing and no haggling. I was visiting my daughter in Austin last weekend and her car (2013 Mercedes Benz C250 Sport) was due for an oil change. I usually change the oil myself but didn't have the time or tools with me to do it this time. I did have the correct Mercedes cartridge oil filter and 6 quarts of Mobil1 0W-40 synthetic oil. I found this Take 5 Oil Change based on location and Yelp reviews. When I arrived on a Saturday morning around 8:45 AM there was another customer pulling in right in front of me. I initially thought I would have to wait but just then Connor (the store manager as I found out later) stepped out, greeted me, and offered me a bottled water. I asked Connor, if I have my own filter and oil would this store perform the oil change? He said yes and quoted a price I found reasonable. He directed me into the 1st garage bay (they have 2 bays) and performed the oil change even replacing the old oil pan plug (which had a torn rubber washer) with an identical oil pan plug. Connor was very nice, professional, and performed the oil change quickly but with care while I waited in the car (watching). When everything was complete, I asked if in the future my daughter could do the same thing and he said "sure, "have her ask for me" and gave me his business card (listing him as store manager).
