Food was delicious and fresh! First time and would definitely go back. Definitely err on the side of caution with your spice level.

This chic, dimly lit, BYOB spot is perfect for a nice dinner with family or friends--or a date night. We even got to meet the owner, Rahul, who personally checked in on every table to make sure everyone was having a great experience. Such a welcoming touch. I dined here over the holidays and absolutely loved both the food and the overall experience. Some standout dishes for me were the goat dum biryani, chicken tikka masala, hakka noodles, and navratan korma. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but these were definite favorites. Anytime I'm passing through this area, I'll be stopping by again. Seriously delicious Indian food.

Recently, we visited their sister restaurant Paheli after trying Praana earlier, where Uma (our…read moreserver) had recommended this place--it had been on our wish list ever since. It was Bengali and Maithili new year and just like we follow the tradition back in India (means eating outside), we decided to come here with our little family. The restaurant is bigger than Praana and feels more like a fine dining place. The ambience looks nice with an Indian theme. Since it was a weekday, it was not very crowded, which was good. And surprisingly, Uma was our server again--she even recognized us What we ordered: *Lamb Pepper Fry (4.5/5): Usually this dish is served dry in most places, but here it came with a little gravy. immediately I ordered garlic naan with it, and it tasted really good together. Even though I prefer it dry, this was the best dish we had. *Tawa Fish Fry (3.5/5): It was basically fried tilapia. Tasted okay, nothing special. * Chef's Special Masala Roast (Lamb): Many people seem to like this dish, but for me it was just average. The presentation was nice. It comes with a small portion of masala rice, which was actually tasty--I just wish there was more of it. Overall, the lamb gravy felt quite normal and not something special. While eating, I told Uma that in Praana there was at least one dish that really stood out, but here I didn't feel that. I would probably go back to Praana again, especially for the Meen Pollichath (Pompano fish), which I really liked. Overall 3.5/5

There's a huge assortment of appetizers and they tend to make me full before I dive into the entrees! My favorite appetizers are the Pani Puri shots - crunchy and a pop of saucey flavor! I also loved the Fish Amritsari- it was fried with a nice crust but still so juicy and flakey inside! I love the various dishes, sauces and curries for entrees and it's hard for me to choose my favorite - if I had to, I would choose the Vegetable Biryani because of the nice bread crust on the top and the hot flavorful rice inside! I will definitely recommend that you try the Atom Bomb - chocolate cake with strong rose flavored ice cream - such a great combo! Shout out to the staff - they're all so attentive and the food comes out fast as well! And they just newly renovated with a huge bright room - perfect for hosting parties!

I had the pleasure of dining in and ordered butter chicken with a side of garlic naan. Food came out quickly and the butter chicken was spot on. We stopped by Kebab & Kurries which I didn't realize was by the Dhaba group. There was no one dining in (but plenty of takeout orders) and we were seated immediately. We tried the Papri Chaat which is basically a Samosa Chaat but using papri (fried flour crackers) instead. The dish had so many bright & refreshing flavors and I loved the contrast of textures from the crispy papri to the creamy yogurt & chutneys. I enjoyed trying it but it definitely doesn't beat samosa chaat! We got the Mixed Grill Platter which was the least "worth it" dish. For ~$32, it had a nice assortment of chicken, beef, and shrimp but some pieces were more tender & juicy than others, and after a while, the flavor profiles all blended together. It's a good source of protein but not too memorable. The Dhaba Butter Chicken was delicious! The chicken didn't taste super fresh to me but the sauce was creamy, buttery, and aromatic. It paired well with the basmati rice and Butter Naan which they make so well. One of the better Naans I've had in North Jersey! Service was quick & friendly. Good try!

Currently the decor isn't great but the friendly owner Raj said he would be updating the place over the next few months. Our waiter was new but he was very friendly and provided helpful recommendations. The menu is already large and Raj mentioned that they're looking to add southern Indian dishes to their current northern Indian focus. We had boneless wings, mutton, samosas, and another chicken appetizer. All of the starters were excellent, perfect mild to medium spice level. Our entrees included lamb, mutton biryani, and a chickpea dish. The biryani was a ton of food and the chickpea texture was awesome. We also had butter naan and I added a tasty mango lassi. Apparently they do a solid bar crowd on weekend nights. I would certainly return to try more dishes. Definitely a solid restaurant.

Blessed to have a local place that makes food everyone can enjoy.

Oh man, what has happened to this place!! I have been here roughly 7 times since my initial,…read moreenthusiastic review and it has gotten progressively worse with each visit. The Service here is not just poor, it is NON-EXISTENT! Expect to sit a good solid 25 minutes before anyone steps up and at that point they are in a big rush to take your full order. How about opening our wine bottles first? Or asking if we have any questions. This is a BYOB and when it is this painful to get a bottle opened, you resort to bringing your own corkscrew as I did last night - problem solved ( with the exception of not being able to get wine glasses for another 15 minutes or so.) It seems the only person who hustles here, is the guy that works the front end and appears to be the owner. He should not have to do double and triple duty because the wait staff is awful. The once great food has changed as well. This was hands down the best Vindaloo I ever had, but this time there was NO spice at all! And the portion was reduced as well, I counted 3 pieces of Lamb and one measley sliced in half potato. And, it was a Saturday night and 3/4 empty, which speaks volumes. And the crack wait staff couldn't even keep up with this low volume. I won't be back.

The restaurant definitely delivers on that image -- great decor, linen-covered tables, table lighting, and a cozy, even romantic atmosphere. What didn't match the setting was the music. It was pumping the entire time like you were in a club, similar to the music during peak hours at the last Indian wedding I attended. It didn't fit the kind of quiet dining experience the space seems designed for. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the menu is extensive with plenty of options -- chicken, lamb, goat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. We started with the calamari cochin, which was excellent. It came out hot and crisp, coated in a flavorful sauce, and felt like a unique take compared to typical fried calamari. For entrées we ordered eggplant bharta and goat curry with tandoori naan. We clearly asked for the eggplant medium spicy and the goat spicy hot, and the server repeated it back correctly. Neither dish had any heat. Instead, we were given a small bowl of chopped peppers to add ourselves, which isn't the same thing. The eggplant initially tasted good but became overly smoky as the meal went on. The goat curry was tender and nicely cooked. Unfortunately, as we continued eating we both started feeling increasingly queasy, so something clearly wasn't sitting right. In the end it was a mixed experience for us and not a place we plan to return to. Lastly, it's BYOB and there's no credit card fee!
