For the most recent dress that I had to fix, it was a multi tiered dress, and just shortening it from the bottom would have made dress off balance and awkward as the layers would be different lengths. She was able to fix this problem and made the layers of the dress equal. I thought the price for the alterations was extremely reasonable.
