We've used Tails R' Wagon many times over the years for our senior Yorkie. She typically comes home well groomed and in a happy mood. On a few occasions we had to do a revision because a spot or two was missed or the hair on the hind quarters was lopsided. We do not request a specific groomer, so cannot recommend someone specifically or place any blame. We always go back because it is convenient and reasonably priced. read more

There pet grooming service is fine, if you can ever get them on the phone to make an appointment. The phone rings and rings, then you leave a message that no one ever gets back to you on. You physically have to go into the shop (when they are open) to make an appointment. read more

Finally a decent dog groomer has come to the area! Tails R' Wagon, in my experience, had been a top-notch place to bring my pups for all of their grooming needs. The pups really love these girls too! The shop itself is immaculately clean and festively decorated as a warm and inviting place for your pets to come and feel safe. This place is run by true professionals and animal lovers who really seem know this business inside and out. They do such an awesome job on my little ones each and every time. Prices have been pretty reasonable; my Shih-Tzu about 18 lbs runs me $50 bucks w/o tip (when he doesn't have fleas, lol)..dips are like $5 extra. This includes the bath, cut, and nails. Not sure about the gland cleaning. They also sell a bunch of fuzzy and squeaky toys that are very reasonably priced over most commercial pet shops. It's really cool to be able to support local business, especially one like this. Forget Petco, Pet Smart Plus, and big chains like these for your pet's grooming needs. Give Tails R' Wagon a visit and you will not be disappointed at all. A 5 STAR establishment all the way!! read more

i absolutely love Tails R' Wagon! I moved to Smithtown about 2 years ago, and was concerned about finding a groomer after the first one botched my dog and cut him. I absolutely love Paige. She does everything I ask with my golden doodle (which is not an easy breed to groom). He comes back so perfectly and never gets shaved, even with the uncontrollable matting. Nikki the owner is a great groomer for Yorkies. She is very gentle with our Teacup Yorkie Munchkin. Highly recommended.

So love this place. We are picky when it comes to our dog being groomed and they do a PERFECT job every time. He looks and smells great every time we take him there. Very upset with what took place there yesterday. Brought my Samoyed there to be groomed. He was there from 12:00-5:00. When we picked him up he collapsed on the floor. The temperature that day 90 degrees. I was later informed by the owner that the air conditioner broke down. Did they call the owners of the dogs there to come and pick up there pets immediately? No they continued working in the horrific heat, subjecting all of the animals health and welfare and compromising their lives. My dog suffered heat stoke as a result. He could not walk or stand up when I arrived. When I got him home he drank water for 20 minutes. They did not even hydrate him while he was there. I am livid. He could barely walk. He could have died or suffered organ damage as a result. I spoke with the owner and she seemed indifferent. The vet said he suffered severe heat stroke. I can not in good faith ever recommend this place due to their lack of concern for the welfare and health of the animals in their care. read more

It's so hard to find a good place where they take care of your dogs. Reasonable prices $70 for my golden retriever. I can't get over how great my dog looks! DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE!! You have options. I brought my very old dog here. He was promptly tied to the gate and left to mingle with other dogs. He promptly fell on his butt. I came in to get my dog back because I saw that this wasn't going to go well. The owner promptly insulted me and I left. Do you really want to deal with this when getting your dog groomed? I checked reviews before taking my dog there. Don't know how they get good reviews. My dog's hair cut was choppy. They didn't trim ears. We discussed anal glands, they said no problem. We had a veterinarian appointment the following week, both glands were full. Never again! read more

My wife brought my dog to this place during the week for a simple haircut. After our dog was there for a short period of time she was called saying that we needed to pick him up as he got a "cut" while he was being combed. The expressed that our dog needed to go to the vet. After arriving to pick up the dog, my wife discovered this was not simply a cut (pictured below). During our visit to the vet, the vet said that something like this does not happen from a comb. Do not trust these people with your furry family member. The only reason they got a 1 star review is because they offered to cover the vet bill. read more

I brought my dog here for the first time and I specifically told them how I wanted his haircut the groomer left his cut all choppy looking. She left a ton of hair everywhere on his body. Place was super small and cluttered too much going on. I tried to go back and make another appointment with someone else give them a second chance and no one would pick up the phone gave up on them. read more

While the shop IS adorable, the most important part for us is how gentle and loving both groomers were to our Carrie (poor girl has been so sad since my father-in-law died--I know she loved getting clean and LOVED the attention she got there). We were so pleased with the service we got at Tails R' Wagon! From the moment I walked in with my two boys, both schnauzers, I immediately felt welcomed! I know my boys felt comfortable too because weren't running for the door to make a great escape!! We were greeted with smiling faces and welcome barks from the other pups getting squeaky clean from the caring staff at Tails R' Wagon. The store was adorably decorated with a cottage like setting and the front window cleverly displayed to reflect the current season. When I picked up my boys from their "spa day".. I couldn't believe what I saw! They looked great! One of the best haircuts, if not the BEST hair cut they have ever gotten! Run don't walk to another groomer! Made an appointment with Nikki the owner for Thursday, 12/12/19 to groom my Yorkie. Was told she was 1st appt @ 11:30 and when we arrived Nikki was not there yet and running late. I left specific instructions with pictures of how Nikki herself has groomed my dog as this was our 4th visit. Usually I get a call within hour and half, but it was 3 hours later. I arrived within 10 minutes and was shocked to see my girl. Her top knot was hanging over her eyes, not trimmed. Her ears were never trimmed and someone took scissors to her entire neck and chopped her hair off. I asked Nikki the owner if she groomed her and she replied YES. I am hoping she was lying because otherwise she should find a new career! The place was a mess and I saw new faces of probably inexperienced groomers. Why I paid her and tipped her is beyond me, I should have walked out. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

For the record I have the sweetest and most vibrant dog. She is fourteen, and I take excellent care of her coat. I brush her weekly and have her bathed weekly as well. I was looking for a local groomer to groom her and stopped in. Without even meeting my dog or seeing a picture, they told me that my dog is too old and they can not help me. They told me that I need to go to vet to have her groomed; rude to say the least! I would not recommend a place that obviously does not like dogs, nor likes new customers. The shop is so cute and clean. The ladies are so friendly and they always love to see my boys. It took us about 4 different groomers until we found the perfect one when we moved on the island and I would never take them to anyone else. They cut my Yorkies hair perfect length everything and know how to keep my Staffordshire calm while bathing him. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great friendly place that doesn't overbook and over crowed. I have almost never seen my babies locked up in the dog cages. every time I go get them they are walking around or playing with the ladies.
