They have friendly workers and some have been helpful in helping me choose a dog food when taking care of a friend's dog who left no instructions. They prices are decent and there are sales and coupons. The friendly patient check out staff is a plus. No one wants an attitude when shopping and for the most part have had friendly helpful people who were a pleasure to talk with. We drive the extra mile or two because the pet supply store (pet smart?) near Costco and the mall has not only a very weird vibe, and gloomy cashiers, but they don't have all the things that PSPSmithtown has. So, this is a chain pet store, but I don't feel that they are created equal. There is a different feeling about this one in particular, as I have been to these stores upstate as well as through Suffolk County (particularly in Central Islip and Ronkonkoma). Firstly, the staff are awesome here - insanely helpful even when you don't ask, friendly if you bring a furry friend in, and lovely when they check you out. I am also constantly impressed by their stock - I believe the only time in recent memory that they were out of stock in something that I needed was walnut cat litter, but I chose a reasonable alternative. The store is always incredibly clean as well, and doesn't smell off like other Pet Supplies Plus do in the area. Tanks and cages for small animals never have debris or are in need of care. I enjoy shopping here and haven't been to Petsmart or Petco in years because of how much I love this store! read more

Dog wash blower still not working properly. Reviewed this in March but still not fixed. You charge $45 for the dog wash card so the expectation is a clean, working set up to wash and dry our dogs. Had to use my electric lawn blower to dry my dog when I got home. read more

This store was very organized. It had a lot to choose from. I was looking for bakery style dog treats and they had a case full of them.

I took my dog Clark for a grooming appointment and could not be more pleased. Anastasia did an amazing job and was professional, communicated everything to me and made Clark look so handsome! We will return for regular grooms with her. I do wish the store had a tip option for the grooming professionals, as I went to pay and was told they do not have the option to tip on the card. read more

Today I used for the first time their self service pet wash. What a great experience. I brought my 5 year old golden in for her birthday bath and she enjoyed it. They have a great washing bin with heated water for large or small dogs. You are a water proof apron to stay dry (that's a must! ) and all the shampoos and cobra you need. Once they ate washed, than you use their blow dryer that is also in the bin as well. Great convenience! Today 8/29 I am bringing my 3 dogs for the pet clinic. Renew their heartworm check. Paid $10 for my dogs bath. Asked how many towels would I like? I replied three as they are old towels and small. She said I can only give you two from her giant stack. What's the point of asking then? I kindly said can I have one more. Her response was "No we might run out!" Needless to say with her attitude and horrible customer service I will bring my purchase down the road to the tune of thousands per year and all because of this! We went into Pet Supplies plus today in Smithtown and the help from Allison and store workers was awesome!! She answered all out questions and made our experience at the store so pleasant!! It nice when someone truly wants to help you and answer any questions you may have without you feeling you bothered them. They even offered to take the dog food bags to our car!! VERY accommodating groomers! My dogs were a mess; I'd waited far too long between appointments. Called last minute, hoping to get in the same day. The groomer was so nice to squeeze me in even though she was pretty packed. I'm pretty positive that she ended up staying late specifically because of us. As far as grooming goes, I'm pretty picky; there were small details that I'd like to have been done better but that doesn't take away one iota for how much I appreciated the job that was done. The bottom line is they are clean, trimmed, don't stink, and were able to be done ASAP! ( and I didn't have to try to do it myself!) The most important message here is that the groomer was so accommodating and so kind to not only squeeze me in, but to understand how time got away from me and my dogs were a mess because of that. She didn't judge, she didn't lecture...I think she really does understand how life just gets in the way sometimes and she didn't hold that against me! 2 thumbs up! read more

Excellent delivery service and overall my favorite pet supply store. There was an issue with my online order and they contacted me so it could be addressed before delivery. On top of that, they called me to let me know they had a product in stock (I had asked them to notify me when it came in weeks prior). The staff handled this situation with the utmost grace and professionalism, showing all the humanity this person completely lacks. I walked in to look around while my husband was food shopping. I saw the groomer screaming at the dog today on Saturday July 13th at 4:00pm. So, if you Dog was there today, do not bring them back for their safety. You can also tell the dog was not happy and did not feel safe. The girl groomer was saying dog chill out and then the manager told the dog shut up and stop crying like a baby. Very disappointed in the grooming apartment. read more

This has been my go to store for all my pet supplies. However, this has changed since I left there broken hearted recently. I went to purchase a parakeet to pair with the one I have at home. They happened to be out of stock at the time. This was not the problem. Several pet stores were out at that time too. The birds that they did have were kept in sort of a cubby hole low to the ground with nothing in their space to stimulate them. They looked so sad. I felt their sadness. If you go into some of the other stores like Petco or Petsmart, the birds are kept in open habitats high off the ground (where birds should naturally be placed) and in sight of the customers. There they have toys and swings and bop around chirping. Happy. Only silence and melancholy from the ones at this store. Hopefully, this can be brought to the attention of someone in management and something can be done to improve their lives. Other than that, the staff has always been helpful and friendly and I more than often find everything I need. read more

I have now been to the self service 3 times now. The idea is fantastic however, this particular location the staff was unkept. Hair all over the aprons, no hooks for patron coats and worse of all, the hose had a hole in it back in November 2017 when I first used it and I got drenched with no one around to even notify. Then, I went back end of December and the hose was taped... no better, wasn't able to angle it or I got soaked again... I just went back February and the same hose, tapped more and still water coming out and unable to use it as it should be. This time I went early, around 9am and they to look for towels and the place was disgusting. I have 2 more that I have paid for and honestly, I"m not sure I want to go back. There are workers around in the aisles chatting but no one there to even look in knowing that they have rigged the hoses. read more
