We continue to absolutely love this place and Sam who always makes our cocker spaniel look like a show dog! He's an older dog and she is always so careful and loving with him. Gretchen is the best dog groomer! She has been grooming my wheaten terrier since she was a puppy. She is extremely patient and so talented. I discovered her bc I saw her grooming a wheaten terrier while I was shopping at Petco where she used to work. She just opened this salon and I'm so happy for her. Wheaten terriers are one of the hardest dogs to groom not only because of their silky coat but also because of their anxious temperament but Gretchen is so great with my dog. Her salon is beautiful and relaxing. She has early hours and is always prompt so your dog is not there all day. Her prices are a bit more than you might pay elsewhere but for her services and expertise it is worth it! read more

I had an awful experience bringing my dog to this establishment. When my fiancé picked her up from her most recent grooming appointment, staff claimed she was so nervous that she bit her tongue. They continued on to inform him that they brought her to the vet and provided medical intervention- all WITHOUT calling us to let us know what was going on! First and foremost, I have a hard time believing she bit her tongue. My dog can display anxiety from time to time but that has NEVER happened. That being said, I understand that mistakes can be made but it's simply unacceptable that I was not made aware of this situation until she was being picked up. The cherry on top of all of this was that the receptionist informed my fiancé that they would be charging us a discounted rate due to the circumstances. When I compared what they changed to our previous receipt, I saw that they were dishonest about this as well. No discount was provided. I will NEVER be bringing my dog back to the Pet Salon. read more

Samantha is the groomer we use for our dog Bailey. She is always so nice and friendly. Our dog came back happy and clean. She does good work and pretty fast too, only takes about 2-3 hours. Price is reasonable and the shop is clean. If you are looking for a groomer in the Commack area, I recommend The pet salon. Gretchen is now grooming my 2nd dog. I followed her from her prior employer and have never, ever been anything but thrilled with her. My first dog was timid and lashed out and he absolutely loved her. She must give out some calming vibe because he always loved seeing her. Called to make appointments for our 3 dogs and the receptionist who answered was unfriendly and confused. She told me they do not take new customers? That was a first. the worst groomers ever ...... they completely shaved my dog down. i have a mini schnauzer and asked for a a schnauzer cut and she completely cut off his eyebrows and beard. my dog came home super aggressive so i can only imagine how he was treated and not to mention never called us when he was done. dont ever take your dog to this place. for 95 dollars i have a super aggravated dog with a botched cut. save yourself the time money and aggregation would not recommend to anyone read more

Brought my 5 month old Potcake, Bella, after taking her to Petco where they told me that they couldn't take her because she seemed aggressive without even giving her the chance to relax. She is a nervous puppy who is a bit unsocialized and is scared of car rides. As soon as we entered The Pet Shop we were greeted by Samantha who just told us to wait 10 min until she finished with the dog she was grooming. She came out to greet Bella and although Bella was scared she gave her the opportunity to gain her trust. She took her without us even having an appt. I attempted to get an appointment for my dog to be groomed and was told they are not accepting new dogs. Interesting how you can sustain a business when you don't take new clients. Best of luck to this establishment as I do know they do a great job grooming dogs, but sadly they have no customer service skills and can't be bothered expanding their client base. read more

So the two reviews here have been about Gretchen. The reviews made me feel good about taking my dogs to get groomed. I expected them to be done by Gretchen but my dogs were taken care of by Sue. Since no one has raved about her yet, let me take the floor. Sue is amazing. I tried The Pet Salon because my old groomer just wasn't up to par as she used to be and was a 15-20 minutes drive. The Pet Salon is literally 5 minutes from my house so after reading the reviews I tried it. I'm really happy I did. I'm also kind of happy I didn't get the owner Gretchen because I could really vouch that Sue is awesome. As I'm new to the salon, I'm pretty sure they're the two groomers of the salon.
